Abstract

This paper aims to examine the effectiveness of bamboo and bricks, by conducting a comparative literature study of the two materials. The method used in the writing of this paper is to conduct a literature review related to bamboo and bricks as wall construction. There are 7 indicators were used as a comparative aspect to measure the level of effectiveness, include of: sustainability, nature of physical and mechanical properties, safety against earthquakes, thermal comfort, cost of construction, and durability. The result indicates the effectiveness comparison of bamboo and bricks.Keywords: sustainable building materials, wall consrtruction, bamboo, bricks

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe aim of this research is to know spatial adaptation of dome house of Ngelepen, Prambanan, Sleman, Yogyakarta which originally lived in Java traditional house, then moved to dome house which has different building characteristic in Java. The addition of outdoor space that occurred in Ngelepen dome provides an indication of the existence of the spatial adaptation of the living environment and human life. This research uses qualitative-rationalistic method approach. The results of this study led to the formation of spatial adaptation that occurred in the dome house Ngelepen is a functional adaptation to the needs of existing space. The adoption of functional adaptation by residents is the addition of outdoor space which includes the addition of new functions, the direction of adding new space, and the extent of the addition of function space. The social and economic aspects are the factors that influence the increase of space outside the dome house because of the change of status from the agrarian environment into the dome tourist village causing the increasing economic and social needs of the inhabitants. Keywords: Functional, Ngelepen dome, Spatial adaptation, Space addition. ABSTRAKTujuan Kajian ini adalah untuk mengetahui adaptasi spasial rumah dome Ngelepen, Prambanan, Sleman, Yogyakarta yang semula tinggal di rumah adat Jawa, kemudian pindah ke rumah kubah yang memiliki karakteristik bangunan berbeda di pulau Jawa. Penambahan ruang luar yang terjadi di Ngelepen dome memberikan indikasi adaptasi spasial lingkungan dan kehidupan manusia. Kajian ini menggunakan pendekatan metode kualitatif-rasionalistik. Hasil Kajian ini menunjukkan bahwa bentuk adaptasi spasial yang terjadi di rumah dome Ngelepen merupakan adaptasi fungsional terhadap kebutuhan ruang yang ada. Penerapan adaptasi fungsional oleh penghuni adalah penambahan ruang di luar rumah yang meliputi penambahan fungsi baru, arah penambahan ruang baru, dan luasan penambahan fungsi ruang. Aspek sosial dan ekonomi adalah faktor-faktor yang mempengaruhi pertambahan ruang di luar rumah dome karena perubahan status dari lingkungan agraris ke desa wisata dome yang menyebabkan meningkatnya kebutuhan ekonomi dan sosial penghuni.Kata kunci: Fungsional, Dome Ngelepen, Adaptasi spasial, Penambahan ruang.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe sediment suspension phenomena have a close something to do withthe watering field, the complexity of the existence of silt particles and clay in afluida which are continuously interact and the turbulence which was happenedhas a specific characteristic.The problems on the sediment suspension flow on the open channel wereapproached with experimental method, i.e. by conducting a direct measurementof the sediment recirculating flume in Hydrology and Hydraulics Laboratory inPAU UGM. To measure the concentration profile of sediment suspension carriage,it is used optical silt measuring instruments type Foslim-probe tools, while tomeasure the flow speed profile, it is used electromagnetic flowmeter probe settype VM-201 H tools and vector calculate equipment type DV-101 tools.From the measurement of 10 series of uniform flow suspensed sediment, itshows that the integration constant value, Br, from logaritmic rule tends to besmaller compared with the integration constant value, Br for pure water, i.e. Br=9. 110 +- 0.734. the integration constant value is affected by the sedimentsuspension concentration level which is showed by the fact that the raisingconcentration will cause the reduction of Br value. From the result of thecomputation, it shows that the coles wake parameterP for the suspensed uniformflow is P =0.085 with the constant value of Von Karman k =0.40 constant. Itshows that te sediment suspension effect will cause the value of P will be moreoppened, it is aggree with the result gained by Coleman (1986) which was saidthat the sediment suspension will cause the greater P value.Keywords: sediment suspension, uniform flow, open channel

Abstract

ABSTRACTThe aim of this study was to determine the level of resilience/ feasibility of simple houses on Rum Village against earhquakes. Simple house is restricted to building area of ≤ 70 m2. In this study, the simple houses that will be observe are grouped into four levels of feasibility consisting of: (1) very suitable; (2) quite suitable; (3) less suitable; and (4) unsuitable. The research was carried out on 28 July – 04 August 2019. The research was carried out through a survey of 35 simple houses in Rum Village, Tidore Kepulauan City, North Maluku Province. The sample of houses was chosen randomly and evenly based on the level of density of RT 1 – RT 13, with the exception of RT 10. From the results, it was found that 6 houses (17%) were categorized as very suitable for earthquake. Furthermore, 5 houses (12%) were classified as suitable, 21 houses (60%) were classified as less suitable, and 3 houses (8%) were classified as unsuitable. After the interview with the foreman, the number of houses that are less suitable for earthquakes is caused by there is no reinforcement concrete beam sloof as a lower structure. Lack of budget is a major factor that make sloof is not build on the simple houses. Therefore, recommendations were made to the relevant government in the Tidore Kepulauan City to provide housing construction subsidies in the form of budget/ building materials. In addition, the government can innovate alternative building materials as a substitute for reinforcement concrete which is cheaper but still strong enough.Keywords: earthquakres, houses, concrete ABSTRAKTujuan penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui tingkat ketahanan/ kelayakan rumah tipe sederhana di Kelurahan Rum terhadap gempa bumi. Rumah sederhana dibatasi untuk tempat inggal dengan luas bangunan ≤ 70 m2. Dalam penelitian ini, rumah sederhana yang akan ditinjau dikelompokkan menjadi empat tingkatan kelayakan yang terdiri atas: 1) sangat cocok; 2) cukup cocok; 3) kurang cocok; dan 4) tidak cocok. Kegiatan dilaksanakan pada tanggal 28 juli – 04 agustus 2019. Penelitian dilakukan melalui survey terhadap 35 rumah sederhana di Kelurahan Rum, Kota Tidore Kepulauan, Provinsi Maluku Utara. Sampel rumah dipilih secara acak dan merata berdasarkan tingkat kepadatan dari RT 1 –RT 13, terkecuali RT 10. Dari hasil analisis survey, diketahui bahwa 6 rumah (17 %) masuk kategori sangat cocok ketahanannya terhadap gempa bumi. Selanjutnya, 5 rumah (12 %) tergolong cukup cocok, 21 rumah (60%) tergolong kurang cocok, dan 3 rumah (8 %) tergolong tidak cocok. Setelah dilakukan wawancara dengan mandor setempat, banyaknya rumah yang kurang cocok terhadap gempa bumi disebabkan oleh tidak terbangunnya beton sloof sebagai struktur bangunan bagian bawah. Kurangnya anggaran menjadi faktor penyebab utama tidak terbangunnya sloof bagi rumah tinggal sederhana. Oleh karena itu, disusun rekomendasi kepada pemerintah terkait di Kota Tidore Kepulauan untuk memberkan subsidi pembangunan rumah berupa anggaran/ bahan bangunan. Selain itu, pemerintah dapat melakukan inovasi bahan bangunan alternatif sebagai pengganti beton bertulang yang lebih murah namun cukup kuat.Kata kunci: gempa bumi, rumah, beton

Abstract

AbstractThis research aims to gather information of computer application ofstructural mechanics to determine the distribution of stress and strain ofthe cross section. The research focuses on the actors of computer users,the data analyzing, and stress-strain behavior.This research applies experimental approach. The chosensubject is the ramp construction of The Maguwoharjo Soccer Stadium,Sleman. The construction is being chosen with the reason of a uniqueconstruction.The ramp then being analyzed mathematically usingVisualFEA to determined the stress-strain behavior.The research result show that the use of specific computerprograms, and for the specific case given, the distribution of stress andstrain still linear. The analysis show that the distribution of stress stillfollow the linearity, even the analysis method using the different way.Keywords: computer user, structural mechanics, stress-strain.

Abstract

ABSTRACTThis research aims to know the capacity of split tensile strength of the mortar andlightweight mortar composition effective for wall with using pumice breccia. Pumice breccia is anaggregate that has a good thermal insulation and easy to obtain. In addition, pumice breccia islightweight aggregate that resistant to earthquakes. However, pumice stone has not been usedoptimally for structural elements. This research was conducted with the experimental method. Inthis study, there were 27 specimens that used for testing the split tensile strength of mortar.Each type of mortar mixture comprised of 3 compositions used were normal mortar 1PC: 4PS,1PC: 6PS, 1PC: 8PS ; normal mortar pumice 1PC: 2PS: 2PM, 1PC: 3PS: 3PM, 1PC: 4PS: 4PM; pumice mortar 1PC: 4PM, 1PC: 6PM, 1PC: 8PM. The proportion of the mixture obtained fromthe calculation of the volume of the test object is used. Each composition of the mixture wasmade 3 specimens with cylinders 150 mm x 300 mm. The results showed that the split tensilestrength avarage of normal mortar, normal mortar pumice, and pumice mortar were 0,16 MPa,0,10 MPa and 0,12 MPa. The analysis results show that the optimum split tensile strengthoccurs in normal mortar pumice. Therefore, the effective proportion mix of mortar with usingpumice breccia is 1PC: 3PS: 3PM.Keywords: Mortar, Pumice, Split Tensile Strength

Abstract

This study aims to evaluate street furniture street lamp in the Malioboro area throughan aesthetic stand point, placement and lighting quality. Factors that make Malioboro be valuedand made a deep impression in the hearts of the people, the street furniture street lamp functionadds to the beauty of Malioboro at night. The existence of street lights should be in accordancewith the purpose of planning, so as to provide safety, comfort and strengthen the character ofan area. This study used survey method. Data collected through the measurement results, anddirect observation in the Malioboro area. The results showed that: (1) the design of lamppostshave a design detail, aesthetic, and gives the impression and feel of high-value works of art; (2)the color of white light is less to show the impression of beauty and reduce the region's identity;(3) Placement of signage looks crowded, disturbing viewpoint and identity elements of streetlights; (4) the placement of the distance between the lights are still very far apart, yet give astrong character to the aesthetics; (5) lighting quality meets the standard of lighting levels, butshould consider the main purpose of planning.Keywords: Aesthetics, identity, light path.

Abstract

ABSTRACTIn the cases of repairing and rehabilitation work of existing concrete structures,interface bond strength between old (substrate layer), and new concrete (overlay) willbe one of the main factors that will significantly affect the quality of the strengthenedstructures. Considering its unique fresh characteristics, self-compacting concrete offersmore advantages in repairing and rehabilitation works. Effects of polypropylene fiberaddition on interface shear bond strength, and the flexural strength of bi-layer concrete(substrate and overlay) were investigated in this experimental study. In this researchworks, polypropylene fibers added at 0 kg/m3, 1 kg/m3, 2 kg/m3, and 3 kg/m3 in thefresh mix of self compacting concrete that will be used as the overlay layer. The freshcharacteristics of self-compacting concrete were investigated using slump-flow test.After 28 days of substrate layer (normal concrete) age, self-compacting concrete thatutilized as overlay layer were casted on the substrate layer. Interface bond strengththat tested using Bi-surface Direct Shear Method, and bi-layer (substrate and overlay)concrete flexural strength were investigated 28 days after the overlay layer casted.Each variant of the bond strength and flexural strength investigated using 3 standardspecimens, therefore totally 36 specimens were tested. Based on the tests results, itcan be concluded several point s as follows; (1) in the case of shear bond strength,polypropylene fiber addition lead the improvement of shear bond strength between newand old concrete. In the dosage of 0 kg/m3, 1 kg/m3, 2 kg/m3 and 3 kg/m3, the resultedshear bond strength were 1,985 MPa, 1,704 MPa, 2,519 Mpa, dan 2,489 MPa, (2)Polypropylene fiber addition also has positive effect on the flexural strength of thestrengthened concrete. Using 0 Kg/m3, 1 kg/m3, 2 kg/m3, and 3 kg/m3 ofpolypropylene fiber addition, the observed flexural strength were 4,156 MPa , 4,988MPa, 2,601 MPa, and 2,543 MPa, and (3) based on the tests results it can besuggested that 1 kg/m3 of polypropylene fiber addition is the optimum composition forthe use of polypropylene fiber reinforced self-compacting concrete as a overlay layerfor repairing, and rehabilitation of concrete structures.Keywords: Polypropylene fiber, Interface Bond Strength, Flexural Strength

Abstract

The map of research in architectural field has a wide complexity, requiresqualitative and/or quantitative analysis method. Until now, the analysis of qualitative’s data model in architectural engineering is varied and not yet sistematically. This is frequently lead to the question about analysis technique, interpretation and conceptualization of research findings. This article’s aim is to asses the sistematic way on the qualitative’s data analysis in architectural research. The main parts of qualitative research are: (1) data, (2) analysis procedure and interpretation and (3) report.Analysis procedure and interpretation through coding is separated into open coding and axial coding. Open coding is detail process, practice, comparation,conceptualization and data categorize on the dimension properties. Open coding is part of analysis which is particularly deal with naming and fenomena categorizing through data testing. Axial coding is a set of procedure which are arranged with a new way after open coding with the form of code consist of: condition, size, context, strategy and consequence. The appropriate qualitative’s data analysis for architectural research are: (1) the study of a shape modification’s effect caused by the change of socio-culture environment, (2) the research to find a new point of view (exploration) in architecture field, (3) the research to revealed the meaning behind the change of phenomenon dueto it basic socio-culture, and (4) the reseach tha requires in-depth review.Keywords: architectural research, qualitative data analysis

Abstract

The purpose of this research is to find out local scouring at abutment, and theeffectiveness of ground-sill in the reduction of the depth, by reducing the basicchannel degradation occurs. This research conducted in hydraulics laboratoryDepartment of Civil and Education planning, Faculty of Engineering, UniversitasNegeri Yogyakarta. Three models of ground-sill distance show that a/Dp =2, groundsillcan effect to reducing depth and length of scouring. The result show that a/Dp =2is optimum distance betwen a/Dp =3 and a/Dp =4 respectively.Keyword: abutmen, ground-sill
