Abstract

This study aims to determine the alms fundraising strategy by BAZNAS in Pangkal Pinang city. The research method is descriptive qualitative so that it can describe what the alms fundraising strategy in BAZNAS Pangkal Pinang city. The results of this study indicate that BAZNAS of Pangkal Pinang has four strategies in conducting alms fundraising activities: First, collecting prospective muzakki using retail fundraising and institutional fundraising approaches. Second, it provides several methods of collecting zakat funds from muzakki both online and offline. Third, managing and protecting muzakki with the aim of increasing muzakki's trust and loyalty and building a positive image of the institution. And finally, Fourth, monitoring and evaluating fundraising activities to assess effectiveness, including knowing the advantages and disadvantages of fundraising activities that have been carried out by BAZNAS of Pangkal Pinang city.

Abstract

Zakat is mandatory for whom reach nisab and must be distributed to those eligible to receive it in accordance with Islamic law. The management of zakat aims to enhance effectiveness and efficiency in zakat management, as well as to maximize the benefits of zakat in achieving societal well-being and poverty alleviation. In the Air Hitam Laut village, situated in the Tanjung Jabung of Jambi, the practice of zakat has not yet implemented. The result of study showed that; first, majority of farmers in the Air Hitam Laut village have less zakat literacy. Second, the implementation of agricultural zakat in the village of Air Hitam Laut are varies among farmers, some of the them only engage in irregular infaq & sadaqa. However, the minority have fulfil their obligation to pay agricultural zakat.

Abstract

The research objective is to understand the role of productive zakat empowerment in BAZNAS to encourage mustahik prosperity. The research use focused interviews to the three mustahik and Baznas institution staff. Based on the research findings, it is revealed that the productive zakat empowerment program at Baznas is divided into urban and rural areas. The urban scope includes the program such as Z-chicken, Z-Mart, Z-Auto, santripreuner, and Microbusiness empowerment. In rural areas, the program includes livestock centers, food storage facilities, village microfinance, and zakat community development (ZCD). The program involves planning, implementation, monitoring, program evaluation, and impact assessment phases. The purposes of the productive zakat empowerment program in alleviating poverty have reached, as seen with urban program beneficiaries like Mr. Fairuz, Mrs. Maryati, Mr. Zaini who have exceeded the had kifayah. These are demonstrates the fact that the program can lift mustahik out of poverty. However, there are still beneficiaries who are not trustworthy in the program they participate in, mainly due to challenges in the procurement process at the stock point, including the acquisition of goods, the delivery process, and the distance for purchasing goods.

Abstract

Beside commercial, Islamic bank have another role to enhance social function especially to raise zakat, infaq, and shadaqa (ZIS) fund. Bank CIMB Niaga Syariah provides OCTO Mobile Apps for ZIS payment. The purpose of this research is to analyze which factors that encourage the intention of Islamic bank customers' to pay zakat through online payment channel in Bank CIMB Niaga Syariah. Seven Customers of Bank CIMB Niaga Syariah have interviewed to understand zakat paying intention thorugh online channel. The research results show that: First, the quality of the OCTO Mobile service is considered good for channeling zakat and infaq online because it has features that make it easy to pay zakat and infaq, with zakat funds going directly to the zakat institution's account. Second, religiosity is the primary factor driving customers' interest in channeling zakat. In fact, four out of seven Bank CIMB Niaga Syariah customers’ have lack of ZIS literacy and not pay ZIS.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the existence of differences of opinion in interpreting Asnaf Zakat Fii Sabilillah, namely Shaykh Muhammad bin Shalih Al-Uimin is not allowed to distribute zakat except to the eight mustahik zakat groups. Meanwhile the opinion of Yusuf al-Qaradawi is allowed to issue zakat for the category Fii Sabilillah. The research method used in this research is a qualitative method using indepth interviews. The result of study show that the management of zakat funds for the utilization of the Al-Hidayah Kuningan mosque is carried out by paying attention to the principles of Amanah and benefits in line with Indonesian Law No. 23 of 2011. Transparency of the utilization of zakat funds for the construction of the Al-Hidayah Kuningan mosque by applying the principle of opennes that provides reports and information to the public and the reporting of BAZNAS which detailing the cost of gradual expenses is in line with Indonesian Law No. 23 of 2011.

Abstract

This research is motivated by the development of zakat in Singapore managed by the Singapore Islamic Religious Council (Majelis Ugama Islam Singapore/MUIS). Singapore with Muslim minority population, is able to develop zakat and have a positive impact to other countries, including Indonesia. This research aims to understand and determine the collection and distribution of zakat in state authority institutions in Indonesia and Singapore. The research method used is qualitative using focused interviews with a comparative approach. Beside interviews, the authors also carried out data by observation and documentation at the National Amil Zakat Agency (BAZNAS) of the Republic of Indonesia and at the Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) in Singapore. The result of the research show that the collection of zakat funds at the National Zakat Amil Agency (BAZNAS) and the Singapore Islamic Religious Council (MUIS) is already optimal. One of the strategies used is to develop administration and transparency so that people entrust their zakat to be managed by state authority institutions. The distribution of zakat funds to the BAZNAS is quite optimal but not as optimal as that of MUIS. This is because the distribution is managed by several parties, while the distribution of zakat funds at Majlis Ugama Islam Singapura (MUIS) is distributed directly to those entitled to receive it, thereby avoiding operational costs which cause zakat funds to be deducted.

Abstract

The role of the waqf nazir is very vital in managing waqf assets. Nazir is not only required to manage waqf assets, but also to continuously innovate in waqf asset management. With modern innovation in waqf asset management, the value of waqf assets will be maintained and even increased. This research method is qualitative research in the form of a case study which uses interviews as the main tool for data collection. The results of the research show that (1) The role of the nazir in optimizing the empowerment of waqf assets at the Al-Karomah Mosque in Kedungbanteng has been going well but is still traditional. (2) The supporting factors that are very influential on the management of productive waqf at the Al-Karomah Mosque in Kedungbanteng are support from the surrounding community in the form of material and non-material as well as the loyalty of the management, while the inhibiting factors are incomplete recording and not being accompanied by digital media which causes some data it's faded and no longer readable.

Abstract

Disabled people face difficulties in meeting their living and educational needs. Approximately 10% of the global population and 5% of Indonesia have disabilities, but the effectiveness of zakat in reducing poverty in Indonesia is still limited. Development of human resources with disabilities is hampered by lack of access, support and discrimination. Quantitative research is descriptive, with a correlational approach. The results of this research show that (1) The utilization of zakat through the Empowered Disability program has succeeded in increasing economic independence and management skills, as well as contributing to community welfare. (2) The utilization of zakat has a significant relationship with the development of human resources in the Empowered Disability program. A very low significance value (<0.001) and a correlation coefficient of 0.884 indicate a strong relationship with human resource development.

Abstract

Overall, BAZNAS RI has succeeded in alleviating poverty by 51.37%, while 48.63% have not been alleviated but have improved their welfare. Poverty alleviation carried out by BAZNAS RI contributed 0.002% to national poverty alleviation calculated based on the number of poor people in Indonesia as of March 2023. This research uses qualitative methods in the form of focused interviews, with an empirical approach, the data sources used in the research are primary and secondary data, data collection techniques obtained through interviews, observation, and documentation.The results of this study indicate that: First, the technique used by BAZNAS of Southeast Sulawesi Province in the utilization of ZIS funds does not describe the full scheme of zakat utilization. Second, the distribution and utilization of zakat, infaq and alms funds in the SULTRA Sejahtera program can be considered quite optimal, but it needs to be maximized again. Third, this program has several obstacles including, fund collection, the number of zakat management organizations, and the lack of public trust in zakat management organizations.
