Abstract

For couples who have built a family of course have to hope to become an intact family, prosperous, full of warmth, and affection. Building a happy family would not be complete without having a descendant or child as the future generation. Every married couples had hopes of having children who are physically and mentally healthy, smart, and can be a pride for the family. To have a child with such expectations, of course parents have a very significant role, that parents are expected to watch each stage of development and needs of children in order to be passed and met properly. The couple who foster home must not be separated from a conflict. If the conflict in the household lead to divorce, and the couple decided to stay together with the ongoing conflict, then it can affect the psychological condition of children. As for the purpose of this study is to describe the self-concept in children whose parents are divorced but still living in one house, through interviews and observation methods.This qualitative study uses a case study approach. The sampling technique used was purposive sampling. Subjects in this study was a girl who was 11 years old whose parents divorced but still living in one house. Data are used in this research is observation, interviews, and field notes. The data were analyzed using technique of Stake analysts. Based on the analysis, it was found that there were 15 categories can be grouped into three patterns. The patterns are 1. Causative factors that influence a child?s self-concept; 2. Psychological characteristics; 3. The dimensions of self-concept in children with divorced parents. Children with divorced parents are expected to be open to problems encountered, and the child is expected to open up to the social environment in the company of those close to and trusted by the child, so the child can change aspects of their life, towards positive self-concept.Keywords : self-concept, child, divorced parents, divorce

Abstract

In Indonesia, we often encountered cases of religious conversion or also called conversion. Religious conversion by Jalaluddin (2012) in general can be interpreted to change religion or converted. Individuals will experience a variety of responses regarding of their choice either of the society from the previous religion and religious communities in the new religion. Various respones occurring in individuals who perform religious conversion will make the individual demonstrate a wide range of coping strategies. Coping strategy is to be studied by researchers for individuals who perform conversions with a variety of responses that emerged from various environments around the individual. This is what researcher will find out about coping strategy in this research. This study uses qualitative research with phenomenological approach. The purpose of this study was to determine the factors that cause religion conversion, the response of family and the environment and coping strategies used by individuals who do the religion conversion. This study used four respondents and will be divided into two, namely the conversion of religion because of the wedding and do the conversion because of their own desires. The results of this study are, causes of conversions divided into two due to internal and external factors. Coping strategies were used that religious coping with three types of coping, self-directing coping style, deffering coping style, and collaborative coping style. The results of this study are, causes of conversions divided into two due to internal and external factors. Religious coping divided into 3 types which using in this case, these are, self-directing coping style, deffering coping style, and collaborative coping style, three types of coping are used at each stage of the process of religioun conversion. Religious coping give positive results to the responden into social system where the responden belong.Keywords: Religion, religion conversion, coping strategy, religious coping.

Abstract

A person’s mental, social functioning and psychological also health will decreased during the late adulthood phase. Those are the obstacles for the people who want to feel the enjoyment of life. People will assume that they have high life satisfaction when they still did the daily activity that they used to do. One of the thing that can make people satisfy with their life is social interaction. Social interaction happened in many aspect of our life not only just in family but also in bigger social life such as neighborhoods, friends, friends at work, etc. The form of social interaction are say hello, smile, and also when a person take a part in problem solving process . This research is a quantitative research using simple regression analysis and using purposive sample technique as the technique sample. Subject in this research are a person age 60 till 80 years old. The instrument in this research is social interaction scale with 15 items and the coefficient reliability = 0,788. The result of this research is show R= 0,001 (p<0,05) thus can be stated that there is a relationship between social interaction with life satisfaction of a late adulthood, which means that the higher social interaction of a person will make a high life satisfaction to their life but if a person have low social interaction, the life satisfaction will be low too. R square = 0,101 which means that the social interaction have contributed 10,1% toward life satisfaction. 100 subject in this research are the people who have a good social interaction and life satisfaction.Keyword: social interaction, life satisfaction,late adulthood.

Abstract

Personal Adjustment is a process which includes all the individual behavior and mental response in harmonize needs and demands in which it is derived from the inside of individual as well as from the environment. The ability in personal adjustment is needed to help the individual in facing many changes and demands from the environment. Personal adjustment is needed for first-year students in facing the school’s transition, especially for the students who proceed their education in a boarding school. Personal adjustment is affected by the ability in managing the emotion and mental readiness to solve a problem without a help from others. This research is aimed to explore the role of autonomy and emotional intelligence to the personal adjustment in the first-year boarding students. The subjects were 125 boarding students in grade X of SMK Kesehatan Bali Medika Denpasar. The instrument in the research were personal adjustment scale, autonomy scale and emotional intelligence scale. The results of multiple regression analysis showed the value of R=0,783 (p<0,05) and R2=0,613, which concluded that the personal adjustment and emotional intelligence conjunctly contributes as much as 61,3% to the personal adjustment in th first-year boarding students. Standardized beta coefficient of autonomy showed the value of 0,296 (p<0,05), which concluded that the autonomy contribute to the personal adjustment. Standardized beta coefficient of emotional intelligence showed the value of 0,541 (p<0,05), which concluded that the emotional intelligence contribute to the personal adjustment.Keywords: autonomy, emotional intelligence, personal adjustment, boarding students, first-year

Abstract

Getting married and starting a new family are one of the developing tasks in the early adulthood. In the first 2 years of marriage, couples need to do a marital adjustment. One of the factors that support the successful of marital adjustment is the ability to express feelings to your partner. Men find it difficult to express their feelings for their traditional views about gender roles in society oriented men and Denpasar most people still follow this view. The traditional view emphasizes men as breadwinners, a figure that is strong, not easy to complain and suppress his feelings. The ability to express emotions have a strong relationship with the marital adjustment so that it takes emotional intelligence in the marriage relationship. The aim of this study is to find out the relation between emotional intelligence and marital adjustment among early adulthood men in Denpasar.This study is a quantitative correlation study. The amount of the subject in the study is 66 young adult men with the criteria of the age limit is 20 – 40 years old, have been married with the age of marriage is not more than 2 years. The technique of collecting data used was purposive sampling. The measuring instrument used in the study was emotional intelligence scale with the reliability 0,885 and the scale of marital adjustment with the reliability 0,882. The result after examining the hypotheses by using the method of correlation data analysis by Spearman shows that the significance level is 0,008 (sig<0,05). The value is showing that there is a significant correlation between emotional intelligence and marital adjustment among early adulthood men. The correlation coefficient between emotional intelligence and marital adjustment is 0,323 that means 32,3% variations in marital adjustment are determined by emotional intelligence, meanwhile the other 67,7% are determined by other variables which are not analyzed in this study.Keywords : Emotional Intelligence, Marital Adjustment, Early Adulthood Men

Abstract

PMW is one of the government initiative to support alumnus of university to be a job creator, but when college students choose to be entrepreneur surely there will be obstacles that must be overcome. Therefore need entrepreneur motivation to be up against that obstacles. One of factor which raises motivation is adversity quotient. Peoples who has adversity quotient are someone who had self motivation. College students need to have adversity quotient inside of their mind to motivate them in entrepreneurship. This research aims to know the relation between adversity quotient with entrepreneurship motivation in student of Udayana University who join PMW.This research using surfeited sample technique. The respondent in this research are students of Udayana University who join PMW with total 70 persons. Scales in this research are adversity quotient scale with total 42 items and entrepreneur motivation with total 38 items. Reliability coefficient of adversity quotient scale is 0.924 and entrepreneurship motivation is 0.941. This research used simple linear regression as additional. The result from this research showed correlation coefficient is 0.682 with probability score between variable is 0.000 which mean there are significant relation between entrepreneurship motivation variable. The coefficient determination R square is 0.465 which mean 46.5% entrepreneurship satisfaction can be explain by adversity quotient variable, however the rest 53.5% can be explain by another factor.Keywords: PMW, adversity quotient, entrepreneurship motivation

Abstract

Psychology student is required to have a good communication skills in situations of personal and public. One of the competencies that must be owned by bachelor of psychology are skilled in interpersonal communication and have an ability to communicate with each other. Handling the anxiety experienced by individuals may differ between one individual with another individual depends on an individual assessment of the capabilities that called self-efficacy (Sarafino, 1994).Self-efficacy is a believefrom individual against all aspects of the advantages who aims to reach an achievement.A total of 175 students in Udayana University and Dhyana Pura University are still actively follow lectures and do an individual presentations in front of the class became a subject in this correlational quantitative study. The sampling technique used was simple random samplingData were processed using Pearson Product Moment analysis, simple linear regression, independent sample t-test, and one-way ANOVA analysis. Statistical analysis show, there is significant correlation between self-efficacy and communication apprehensionin order to do presentation in front of class (r = -0,725; p = 0,000). The coefficient of determination obtained for 0,540 which means that 54 % of the variance that occurs in the communication apprehension in order to do a presentationin front of the class variable can be explained by the variance in self-efficacy variable. T test and F test analysis found that the mean scores for communication apprehension in order to do a presentationin front of the class did not differ significantly when assessed from the gender (T = 1,389; p = 0,167) and there are differences in communication apprehension in presenting the task in front of the class when examined from many individual presentation experience (F = 15,848 ; p = 0,000).Keywords: Self-efficacy, communication apprehensionwhen presenting the task in front of the class, students of Psychology.

Abstract

Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia is a type of blood cancer that holds a percentage of 65% of all childhood leukemia incidence (Muhtadi, 2014). Symptoms of the disease and the therapeutic effects of treatment that must be taken in a minimum period of two years, requires children to fight for his recovery (Pre-eliminary interview study). Often the circumstances experienced by children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia during therapy treatment is contrary to the child's personality. Thus, children need to make an effort to overcome the unpleasant condition during therapy treatment. The effort is called the coping strategies (Spencer, Jeffrey, & Greene, 2002). Gamayanti (2006) revealed that children who have good coping would improve the continuity of the therapy process and to give effect to the development of children after recovery. According to this fact, the researcher want to determine how the coping strategies in children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia during therapy treatment.This study is qualitative research with case study design. Interview, observation, and documentation are used to collecting data, of two children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia. In order to strengthen the data, interview techniques focused on two significant others of children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia.The results in this study shows that children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia has a coping strategy. A complete overview coping strategies will be discussed in accordance with the circumstances of the child during therapy treatment.Keywords: Coping strategies, children with acute lymphoblastic leukemia

Abstract

Slameto (2003) explains that one of the factors that influence learning achievement is a relation peers or position of the student relationship with friends around. The position of the student relationship with a friend in the class can be described by Sociometrics Status. Sociometric status means a reflection of the general acceptance of individuals by peers (Finch, 1998) The purpose of this study was to determine differences in learning achievement in terms of sociometric status in SMPN 1 Bangli.This research is a mixed-method. The sampling technique used was cluster random sampling. Subjects in this study amounted to 189 students who attend school at SMPN 1 Bangli. Data mining techniques used in this study begins with interviews and the interviews made in the questionnaire and subsequent sociometric status sociometric status questionnaire distributed to the study subjects. Data were analyzed using the Kruskal-Wallis test. Based on the results of data analysis, showed that there is a significant difference in learning achievement in terms of sociometric status in SMPN 1 Bangli. If students want to get high academic achievement, the students can improve their relationships with friends around.Keyword: Learning Achievement, Sociometric Status.

Abstract

Psychological well-being is a construct associated with the optimum or positive functioning of a person. All of the people exactly want to live well both physically and psychologically including adolescents. One of the factors who has a significant correlation with psychological well-being is gratitude. Psychological well-being of adolescents can also enhanced through the development of positive behaviors. One of positive behavior that support the personal growth of adolescents is prosocial behavior. This study aimed to determine the correlation between gratitude and prosocial behavior toward psychological well-being in late adolescents who join the Islamic medical activists at Faculty of Medicine Udayana University.The sampling technique used in this study was cluster sampling. Subjects of the research were 60 late adolescents who join the Islamic medical activists at Faculty of Medicine Udayana University. Instruments in this study were psychological well-being scale, gratitude scale and prosocial behavior scale. Data obtained in this study were analyzed by multiple regression analysis to see the correlation between gratitude and prosocial behavior toward psychological well-being. Multiple regression analysis results F test values 29,976 with significance value 0,000 (P < 0,05) it means gratitude variable and prosocial behavior were able to predict psychological well-being. Coefficient of determination equal to 0,513 showed that 51,3% psychological well-being can be explained by gratitude and prosocial behavior.Keywords: gratitude, prosocial behavior, psychological well-being, late adolescents
