Abstract

THE EFFECT OF KNOWLEDGE AND ENERGY-SAVING ATTITUDES TOWARDS ENERGY-SAVING BEHAVIORAbstractEnergy consumption around the world continues to increase, which has not been followed by energy savings. This study aimed to determine the effect of knowledge and attitudes about energy saving on energy-saving behavior. The location of this research is SDN Kampung Bambu III Tangerang. Descriptive quantitative research model with a survey approach. The study population was students of SD Negeri Kampung Bambu III, with a sample of 102 students consisting of classes 5A, 5B, and 5C. Data analysis was performed using single regression and multiple regression. The results showed an influence between energy awareness and energy-saving behavior; there is an influence between energy-saving attitude and energy-saving behavior. There is an effect of energy knowledge and energy-saving attitudes on students' energy-saving behavior in Tangerang City. AbstrakKonsumsi energi di seluruh dunia terus meningkat, yang belum diikuti oleh penghematan energi. Tujuan dari penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui pengaruh pengetahuan dan sikap tentang hemat energi terhadap perilaku hemat energi. Lokasi penelitian ini adalah SDN Kampung Bambu III Tangerang. Model penelitian kuantitatif deskriptif dengan pendekatan survei. Populasi dalam penelitian siswa SD Negeri Kampung Bambu III, dengan sampel 102 siswa terdiri dari kelas 5A, 5B dan 5C. Analisis data dilakukan dengan regresi tunggal dan regresi ganda. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terdapat pengaruh antara kesadaran energi dengan perilaku hemat energi; ada pengaruh antara sikap hemat energi dengan perilaku hemat energi; dan ada pengaruh pengetahuan energi dan sikap hemat energi terhadap perilaku hemat energi siswa  di Kota  Tanggerang.

Abstract

THE EFFECT OF GREEN CHEMISTRY LAB EXPERIMENTS ON STUDENTS' ATTITUDES TOWARDS CHEMISTRYAbstractThis study aimed to investigate the effect of green chemistry lab experiments and the traditional chemistry lab experiments on students’ attitudes towards chemistry. This type of study was a quasi-experiment with a non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group design. The population of this study was all the Class XI of Natural Sciences in SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja, totaling five classes. Samples were selected by a purposive sampling technique. Sciences of 2 and 5 was the control group taught by traditional chemistry lab experiments, while Class XI of Natural Sciences of 3 and 4 was the experimental group taught by green chemistry lab experiments. Students’ attitudes towards chemistry were measured by a questionnaire given to students before and after the chemistry lab experiments. The results of this study indicated that students’ attitudes toward chemistry were better in the green chemistry lab experiments with a mean score of 4.34 than in the traditional chemistry lab experiments with a mean score of 4.15. AbstrakPenelitian ini bertujuan menyelidiki pengaruh praktikum kimia hijau dan praktikum kimia tradisional pada sikap siswa terhadap kimia. Jenis penelitian adalah eksperimen kuasi dengan rancangan non-equivalent pretest-posttest control group. Populasi penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa Kelas XI IPA di SMA Negeri 4 Singaraja yang berjumlah lima kelas. Sampel dipilih dengan teknik purpossive sampling. Kelas XI IPA 2 dan 5 sebagai kelompok kontrol yang diajar dengan praktikum kimia tradisional, sedangkan Kelas XI IPA 3 dan 4 sebagai kelompok eksperimen yang diajar dengan praktikum kimia hijau. Sikap siswa terhadap kimia diukur dengan inventori yang diberikan kepada siswa sebelum dan setelah kegiatan praktikum kimia. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan sikap siswa terhadap kimia lebih baik pada praktikum kimia hijau dengan skor rata-rata 4,34 dibandingkan dengan praktikum kimia tradisional skor rata-rata 4,15.

Abstract

HIGH SCHOOL CHEMISTRY TEACHERS' UNDERSTANDING OF HIGHER-ORDER THINKING SKILLS AND ITS IMPLEMENTATIONAbstractTeachers play an essential role in attempts to develop students' higher-order thinking skills through the implementation of classroom assessments. This study explores chemistry teachers' understanding of higher-order thinking skills (HOTS) assessments, how they implement the assessments, and what obstacles they face. This study employed a qualitative approach that involved 12 high-school chemistry teachers in South Jakarta. Data collection was conducted in August and September 2019 through semi-structured interviews. The findings of this study show that the chemistry teachers have a different understanding of higher-order thinking assessments.  The majority of teachers associate HOTS with the three highest levels of the cognitive dimension of Revision of  Bloom's taxonomy, critical thinking,  and problem-solving. The levels of implementation of HOTS assessments among teachers vary. Among obstacles faced by the teachers are the lack of teachers' knowledge and experience in applying HOTS assessments, variability in students' cognitive abilities, the scarcity of learning facilities, and the lack of guidance and training about HOTS assessments in chemistry. AbstrakGuru memegang peranan penting dalam upaya mengembangkan kemampuan siswa dalam berpikir tingkat tinggi melalui penerapan penilaian kelas.Penelitian ini menggali pemahaman guru kimia tentang penilaian kemampuan berpikir tinggi tinggi (HOTS), penerapannya, dan hambatan-hambatan yang dihadapi. Penelitian ini menggunakan pendekatan kualitatif yang melibatkan 12 orang guru kimia SMA di Jakarta Selatan. Pengumpulan data dilakukan pada bulan Agustus dan September 2019 melalui wawancara semi-terstruktur. Temuan dalam penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa para guru kimia memiliki pemahaman yang beragam tentang penilaian HOTS. Mayoritas guru mengaitkan penilaian HOTS dengan tiga jenjang tertinggi  dimensi kognitif pada taksonomi Bloom yang telah direvisi, berpikir kritis, dan penyelesaian masalah. Tingkat penerapan penilaian HOTS di kalangan guru bervariasi. Hambatan yang dihadapi para guru Kimia SMA dalam melaksanakan penilaian HOTS, antara lain  keterbatasan pengetahuan dan pengalaman  guru dalam menerapkan penilaian HOTS,  kemampuan kognitif siswa yang bervariasi, keterbatasan fasilitas pembelajaran, dan kurangnya panduan dan pelatihan tentang penilaian HOTS untuk mata pelajaran kimia.

Abstract

ANALISIS PENALARAN MAHASISWA PENDIDIKAN BIOLOGI PADA MATA KULIAH TAKSONOMI TUMBUHAN DENGAN MODEL RASCHAbstractThe reasoning is the stage of thinking that tries to connect facts or evidence to reach conclusions. The reasoning includes thinking and reasoning skills that support the formation and modification of concepts. The complexity of learning stages and reasoning gives results in inequality or low levels of reasoning owned by students. This study aimed to analyze the reasoning of students in the Plant Taxonomy course. This research used a descriptive quantitative design. This research used a test instrument administered on 36 students of Biology Education of UIN Raden Fatah Palembang with data collected using questions with indicators based on Toulmin's assessment (2003). The data analysis was conducted by analyzing the level of individual ability (person measure) to determine students' reasoning ability. The data analysis showed that one student had a logit person score of +3.05, namely student number 02, with a high reasoning category. There were twenty-four students, with a medium reasoning category. Two students have the lowest logit person score, namely students 08 and 14, with a logit person score of -0.49. The results indicated that generally, students had difficulty finding plant taxonomy concepts; therefore, thinking needed to be taught more in-depth, so students could manage the information received and conduct a good reasoning analysis in problem-solving.AbstrakPenalaran merupakan tahap berpikir yang mencoba menghubungkan fakta atau evidensi untuk mencapai kesimpulan. Penalaran mencakup keterampilan berpikir dan bernalar yang mendukung pembentukan dan modifikasi konsep. Kompleksnya tahapan belajar hingga pada tahap penalaran, mengakibatkan adanya ketidakmerataan atau rendahnya tingkat penalaran yang dimiliki oleh mahasiswa. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis penalaran mahasiswa pada Mata kuliah Taksonomi Tumbuhan. Jenis penelitian adalah deskriptif kuantitatif.  Penelitian menggunakan instrumen tes yang dilaksanakan pada 36 mahasiswa Pendidikan Biologi UIN Raden Fatah Palembang. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan soal dengan indikator berdasarkan asesmen Toulmin (2003). Analisis data dengan menganalisis tingkat abilitas individu (person measure) untuk melihat kemampuan penalaran mahasiswa. Hasil analisis menunjukkan bahwa terdapat satu mahasiswa yang memiliki nilai logit person +3,05 yaitu mahasiswa nomor 02, dengan kategori penalaran tinggi. Terdapat dua puluh empat mahasiswa, dengan kategori penalaran sedang. Terdapat dua mahasiswa yang memiliki nilai logit person paling rendah, yaitu mahasiswa 08 dan 14 dengan nilai logit person -0,49. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa, secara umum mahasiswa banyak mengalami kesulitan dalam menemukan konsep taksonomi tumbuhan sehingga perlu lebih dalam mengajarkan cara berpikir mahasiswa, sehingga mahasiswa dapat mengelola informasi yang diterima dan melakukan analisis penalaran yang baik dalam memecahkan masalah.

Abstract

EXPLORATION OF FISHERMAN CHILDREN'S DAILY LIFE ACTIVITIES AT LOBUK VILLAGE TO SUPPORT CONTEXTUAL SCIENCE LEARNINGAbstractThe daily activities of fishermen's children can be used as a material context in applying contextual science learning, as emphasized by K13. In fact, learning science in coastal schools is not yet contextual to the daily activities of fishermen's children. This study aims to provide a description of the daily activities of fishermen's children in Lobuk Village, and a description of the relationship between these activities and science learning materials for SMP/MTs. This type of research is a descriptive qualitative case study method. The primary data sources were fishermen children aged SMP/MTs and their parents. Data collection techniques in the form of interviews, observation, and documentation. The results showed that fishermen's children's morning activities were helping with homework, preparing for school, then leaving for school. The daytime activity is helping the mother/aunt work in the drying process of the fish (a gherri jhuko'). The afternoon activity is looking for shells (arang-karang) during low tide, some of the shells are sold to earn pocket money or for parents, and some are used as salad. Nighttime activities are reciting/tarawih, tadarus, watching TV, then sleeping. The daily activities of fishermen children in their routine of helping to work a gherri jhuko’ and arang-karang in Lobuk Village are related to science learning materials for SMP/MTs, namely the classification of shells in Mollusca type invertebrates; the application of solid substance pressure to the knife for nyetak, mowang bunto ', and a gherri jhuko'. AbstrakAktivitas sehari-hari anak nelayan bisa digunakan sebagai konteks materi dalam menerapkan pembelajaran IPA kontekstual, sebagaimana penekanan K13. Faktanya, pembelajaran IPA di sekolah pesisir belum kontekstual terhadap aktivitas sehari-hari anak nelayan. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memberikan deskripsi aktivitas sehari-hari anak nelayan di Desa Lobuk, dan deskripsi keterkaitan aktivitas tersebut dengan materi pembelajaran IPA SMP/MTs. Jenis penelitian ini adalah deskriptif kualitatif dengan metode studi kasus. Sumber data primer dari anak-anak nelayan usia SMP/MTs beserta orang tua. Teknik pengumpulan data berupa wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan aktivitas pagi hari anak nelayan adalah membantu pekerjaan rumah, menyiapkan diri ke sekolah, lalu berangkat sekolah. Aktivitas siang hari adalah membantu ibu/bibinya bekerja dalam proses pengeringan ikan (a gherri jhuko’). Aktivitas sore hari adalah mencari kerang (arang-karang) saat air laut surut, sebagian kerang dijual untuk menghasilkan uang jajan atau untuk orang tua, dan sebagian lagi dirujak. Aktivitas malam hari adalah mengaji/tarawih, tadarus, nonton TV, lalu tidur. Aktivitas sehari-hari anak nelayan dalam rutinitas membantu bekerja a gherri jhuko’ dan arang-karang di Desa Lobuk berkaitan dengan materi pembelajaran IPA SMP/MTs, yaitu pengklasifikasian kerang dalam avertebrata jenis Mollusca; penerapan tekanan zat padat pada pisau untuk nyetak, mowang bunto’, dan a gherri jhuko’.

Abstract

DEVELOPING ROTATION DYNAMIC CONCEPTUAL SURVEY (RDCS) TO ASSESS STUDENT’S PRIOR CONCEPTIONAbstractThis study aims to develop an evaluation tool to measure the level of students' conception in the form of four-tier diagnostic test categories of material on rotational dynamics. The development model used is 3D+T. The steps of the 3D+T are: Define, Design, Develop, and Trial. The development instrument used was a validation sheet for material experts (expert judgment) and a four-tier question sheet for testing students. Validation of the feasibility of the items covering aspects of language, the suitability of the questions with cognitive aspects, and the indicator of the problem was declared very feasible to use. Instrument quality assessment is done by calculating CVR and CVI arranged in the form of a checklist column. This development research produced an RDCS (Rotational Dynamics Conceptual Survey) test instrument in the form of four tiers. The RDCS test instrument consisted of 16 items. Trials of the test instruments obtained a percentage of students' conceptions of error of 17%, misconceptions of 43%, did not understand the concept of 24%, and understood the concept of 16%.AbstrakTujuan penelitian ini adalah mengembangkan suatu alat evaluasi untuk mengukur level kategori konsepsi siswa berbentuk four-tier terhadap materi dinamika rotasi. Model pengembangan pada penelitian ini adalah 3D + T. Tahapan model pengembangan 3D+T yaitu: Define (Pendefinisian), Design (Perancangan), Develop (Pengembangan), dan Trial (Uji Coba). Instrumen pengembangan yang digunakan berupa lembar validasi oleh ahli materi (expert judgment) dan lembar soal four-tier untuk uji coba kepada siswa. Validasi kelayakan butir soal meliputi aspek bahasa, kesesuaian soal dengan aspek kognitif dan indikator soal dinyatakan sangat layak digunakan. Penilaian kualitas instrumen dilakukan dengan perhitungan CVR dan CVI disusun dengan bentuk kolom checklist. Penelitian pengembangan ini menghasilkan suatu instrumen tes RDCS (Rotational Dynamics Conceptual Survey) dengan bentuk four tier. Instrumen tes RDCS terdiri dari 16 butir soal. Uji coba instrumen tes diperoleh persentase konsepsi siswa eror sebesar 17%, miskonsepsi 43%, tidak paham konsep 24%, dan paham konsep 16%.
