Abstract

The learning process, the teacher always use conventional method so the teacher is more activities and the situation of the activities make the students bored. From the explanation above the result of learning process is less. The writers are interested about the influence of dicovery learning method to improve the students achievement. The research of study was conducted in MTs Patra Mandiri Plaju Palembang academic year 2013/2014. Whether there is influence learning discovery learning methods to the learning outcomes of students in the subjects of Biology class VII MTs Patra Mandiri Plaju Palembang . The purpose of this study is to determine the effect of discovery learning method learning on learning outcomes of students in the subjects of Biology class VII MTs Patra Mandiri Plaju Palembang. Type in this study experiment study using a quantitative approach analysis techniques using t test analysis. The results of the analysis of the posttest valuesobtained is 3.54 at a price t table at 5% significance level and d f = ( 34 +35 ) -2 table = 2.00. Turns t count > t table or 3.54 > 2.00 . This suggest that Ho rejected Ha accepted the hypothesis stated that "the result of study of students from experiment class better than from students of control class”.

Abstract

Discovery learning model is one model that can increase student activity in the learning process so that students seek and find their own knowledge. This study aims to determine the effect of discovery learning model on the cognitive improvement of students on Biology material in X class. Research method used in this research is quasi experiment with research design of Non-equivalent Control Group Design. The population in the study consisted of 5 classes totaling 256 students. Sampling is used by using simple random sampling technique. The sample of this study is X MIA 1 class as experiment amounted to 37 and X MIA 3 class as the control class amounted to 45 students. In the learning process, the experimental class is treated by using discovery learning model and control class is taught with conventional model. The results of this study indicate that the average Ngain of the experimental class is 0.56 which is in the medium category and the average N-gain for the control class is 0.30 which belongs to the low category. Data analysis using t-test with significant level 0,05 obtained tarithmetic = 7,470 while t-table = 1,667 seen that t-arithmetic> t-table. This can be seen from the calculation of cognitive t-test showed students sig. t-arithmetic 0.000 <0,05, then Ha is accepted and H0 is rejected. The result of the analysis of the average increase of cognitive completeness of the experimental students. In the experimental class reaches 32.65% while the cognitive students in the control class is 12.42% which means that the cognitive of the experimental class is higher than the control class instudent's cognitive. Thus, it can be deduced that the Disccovery learning model has an effect on the students’ cognitive improvement on X class student biology material.

Abstract

This research aims to determine the effect of cooperative learning model type Group Investigation (GI) against students critical thinking skills on virus subject in X class. Research Method is quasi experimental design with a pretest-posttest control group design study . Population on research this composed from six class amount 208 students, Sampling on this research used random technique. The sample of research is 66 students. Technique of data collecting with question tests are pretest and posttest . Based on data use results t test on level real 5% for pretest results t arithmetic = 5,556 and t table = 1.998 , then t arithmetic > ttable . Meanwhile, the results of data using t test at the real level of 5% for posttest results t arithmetic = 3,632 and t table = 1.998, then t arithmetic > ttable . This can be seen from the t-test calculation of students critical thinking skills show as sig tarithmetic 0.000 <0,05, then Ha accepted and H 0 rejected . Results analysis calculation per indicator thinking skills students on pretest control class achieved 13.2% very low category while calculations per indicator of critical thinking skills students on pretest experimental class reach 25,3% very low category. The result of calculation analysis per indicator of students critical thinking skill in posttest of control class reach 62,3% low category, while calculation of student critical thinking skill indicator on experimental class posttest reach 82,6% very high category, that is students critical thinking skills more high after application of learning model cooperative type group investigation (GI) . Then could withdrawn conclusion that there the influence of cooperative learning model of Group Investigation (GI) type of students critical thinking on the Virus material of X class. Keywords : learning model, GI, critical thinking, virus

Abstract

Schools are strategic institutions to fight for gender equality. There is one school in South Sumatera that applies the concept of gender, namely SMA 2 Sekayu. This study aims to analyze the social aspects of gender-responsiveness in schools. The approach used is descriptive qualitative phenomenological. The informants consisted of school principals, teachers, students, school committees, and education staff. Data were collected through observation, interviews, documentation and analyzed using an interactive model of analysis consisting of reduction, presentation, and verification. Meanwhile, the social aspects of gender-responsiveness were analyzed through Longwe. The results showed that the implementation of gender-oriented schools on social aspects involved women and men of the school committee. Teachers' and parents? interactions run well. The school had a puberty management forum for male and female students. The interaction of all school members is in accordance with the concepts of gender equality. But the teacher did not yet have the ability to control and detect sexual harassment against students. To realize gender-responsiveness, all components in the school must have gender sensitivity.

Abstract

The study was based on a lack of learning processes that can enhance students' critical thinking skills. That is because the material presented is still conventional, and learning was dominated by the teacher, so the teacher-centered learning. The purpose of this study was to determine the effect of guided inquiry learning model to the students' critical thinking skills. This study was an experimental study using descriptive quantitative data analysis techniques. The instruments were the observation sheets, test and questionnaire. The data analysis used t-test, the data on the calculation the average difference obtained tcount both classes of 3.3849, while the 0,05 ttable at significant level of 1.684, so tcount > ttable, then H0 rejected and Ha accepted. Data from observations demonstrate critical thinking skills of students in the experimental class is higher than the control class that is 77%> 68%. Guided inquiry learning model has received positive responses to the responses of students strongly agree. Concluded that guided inquiry learning model on environmental management material effect on critical thinking skills of students at SMP 2 Tanjung Lago, Banyuasin.
