Abstract

Cost allocation of transmission usage on the power networks is an important issue especially in the modern electricity market mechanism. In this context, all costs that have been embedded in the transmission, embedded cost, should be covered by the transmission users. This paper follows general methods, where generators are fully responsible to cover the embedded cost. It proposes a method to determine the cost allocation of transmission usage based on decomposition through the superposition techinique to determine power flow contributions from an integrated base case of the results of the power flow calculations of all transactions, bilateral and nonbilateral contracts. Mathematically, the applied formulations are illustrated clearly in this paper. The proposed method has been tested with 5-bus system and the results are much different compared to a few of the published methods. This is shown by the test results on the 5 bus system. The published methods produce total power flow contributions in each line is greater than the actual. And they earn total revenues approximately 11.6% greater than the embedded cost. While on the proposed method, the power flow contributions are equal to the actual and the revenues are equal to the embedded cost. It shows also that the proposed method gives results as expected

Abstract

This research was conducted to examine the characteristics of heat transfer and heat flux fluctuations of staggered cylinder arrangement. The parameters in this study is Reynolds 8.8x104 , inlet velocity of 1 m/s and inlet temperature of 600C. Numerical model used is a 2D model-URANS turbulence model is k-omega SST. The results of this study indicate that increased flow velocity in the narrow area on the second row and third row caused by the staggered arrangement. This led to the distribution of the local Nusselt third highest row two and row after row of the lowest. Highest temperature distribution found in the area and the intensity of the turbulent wake in the third row higher value this is due to the influence of turbulence on the previous line and the arrangement of the cylinders. Effect of heat flux variation of the average Nusselt number appears lower in the heat flux 600 W/m2 than 200 W/m2 and 1000 W/m2 , but the third row average Nusselt values coincide with each other. While the average turbulent intensity increases towards the downstream. In the third row with a heat flux of 600 W/m2 has the highest turbulence intensity, while for the heat flux and heat flux of 200 W/m2 1000 W/m2 intensity turbulennya coincide with each other.

Abstract

Disposal of either industrial or nonindustrial wastewater into a river has a potential to cause river pollution. Because each load of wastewater discharged into a river contains physical, chemical, and biological parameters that determine water quality, so that it can affect the dissolved oxygen concentration in a river. Therefore the conducted research was aimed to determine the pattern of pollutant dispersion in Surabaya River within the section that is closed to the Karang Pilang Monitoring Station - Surabaya. Parameter used in this research was Total Suspended Solids (TSS). The method used was the finite volume method with Quadratic Upwind Interpolation Convective Kinematics (QUICK) scheme by means of developing models of dispersion water pollutants in a river. The governing equation was controlled by the laws of mass conservation, momentum conservation, and pollution transport equation. Further, these equations were solved using numerical calculation and followed by numerical simulation. From the numerical simulation results, it can be concluded that the magnitude of pollutant dispersion is determined by the initial discharged TSS concentrations into the river, however the longitudinal direction is more dominantly influenced than in lateral directions.

Abstract

The port is a gateway region's economy. Investment performance is important that an effective and efficient port to ensure smooth supply chain needs of the region and promote economic growth. This study aims to model the port investment relationship with economic growth. Quantitative analysis and econometric modeling is used in statistical testing, studies typically classified in two areas, namely: the north and south islands of Maluku. The northern and southern regions and the increase in the loading dock term investment to drive economic growth, but the number of visits relation ship with economic growth negative influence.
