Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kompetensi siswa dalam pemahaman membaca di kelas VIII B SMP N 5 Amlapura pada tahun ajaran 2014/2015. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah 25 siswa: 12 laki-laki dan 13 perempuan. Nilai ketuntasan ditentukan oleh sekolah yang harus dicapai oleh siswa adalah ≥68. Berdasarkan guru bahasa Inggris yang mengajar kelas ini, kemampuan siswa dalam keterampilan membaca yang buruk dan harus ditingkatkan. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis materi ajaran Bahasa Inggris yang dikembangkan oleh guru-guru di SMPN 1 Singaraja. Penelitian terkonsentrasi pada strategi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam mengembangkan materi, keterkaitan materi dengan tujuan pembelajaran, serta alasan mengapa guru mengembangkan materi sedemikian rupa. Penelitian ini menggunakan model penelitian deskriptif qualitatif dengan subyek penelitian yaitu guru-guru Bahasa Inggris kelas tujuh di SMPN 1 Singaraja, sementara obyek penelitian ini adalah pengembangan materi Bahasa Inggris kelas tujuh. Data-data yang dibutuhkan dikumpulkan dengan metode observasi, wawancara, serta analisis dokumen. Berdasarkan hasil analisis data ditemukan bahwa (1) kedua guru yang mengajar di kelas tujuh mengembangkan materi mereka dengan menggunakan tiga strategi yakni menggunakan langsung, mengembangkan, dan mengadaptasi materi ajar. Dari ketiga strategi tersebut kebanyakan materi dikembangkan dengan metode adaptasi dengan cara penambahan dan pengurangan konten, modifikasi tugas, serta pengembangan tugas. (2) guru masih mengalami kesulitan dalam mengembangkan materi berkaitan dengan tujuan pembelajaran pada KI-1 dan KI-2. Guru-guru belum dapat mengembangkan atau membuat materi yang menyisipkan pendidikan karakter di dalamnya. (3) Hasil dari penelitian juga menunjukkan bahwa strategi tersebut digunakan dengan alasan karena materi pembelajaran yang terdapat pada buku paket siswa tidak sesuai dengan kebutuhan siswa serta kontennya dirasa terlalu sederhana dan tidak menantang. Materi pembelajaran yang authentic dan debatable dapat digunakan sebagai acuan dalam mengembangkan materi pemebelajaran yang lebih baik. This study aimed at analyzing the English learning materials developed by the teachers of SMPN 1 Singaraja. This study concerned with: the strategies used by the teachers in developing learning materials, the relation of the learning material to the learning goals, and the reasons why teachers developed such a kind of material. This study used a descriptive qualitative research design. The subjects of this study were the seventh grade English teachers of SMPN 1 Singaraja and the object of the study was the materials development. The data were collected by doing observation, interviewing, and document analysis. Based on the result of the data analysis it was found that (1) both teachers who taught the seventh grade students developed their learning materials by using three strategies namely adopting, developing, and adapting materials. From the three strategies, most materials were developed by using adaptation strategy in the form of materials addition and deletion, task modification, and task extension. (2) The teachers still had a problem in developing learning materials to achieve the learning goals especially spiritual and social competence. The teachers could not insert or develop character values into their learning materials. (3) The result of the study also revealed that such materials development strategies were used because the materials provided in the course book could not meet the students’ need and the contents were too simple and were not challenging. Abstract

Penggunaan media audio dalam bentuk lagu kreasi merupakan salah satu media yang inovatif untuk mengajar Bahasa Inggris kepada anak – anak. Hal ini berhubungan dengan karakteristik anak – anak yaitu memiliki tingkat konsentrasi yang rendah. Agar mereka tetap fokus dalam belajar, mereka harus melakukan aktivitas yang menyenangkan misalnya, bernyanyi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh media audio berbasis lagu kreasi terhadap kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian eksperimen dengan desain post-test only control group. Terdapat dua sampel penelitian yaitu SDN 1 Banjar sebagai grup eksperimen dan SDN 3 Banjar sebagai grup kontrol yang ditentukan dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Instrumen yang digunakan untuk mengumpulkan data adalah post-test, RPP dan soal try out. Ketika data telah terkumpul, data tersebut dianalisis dengan menggunakan program SPSS 21 secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasilnya menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata – rata dari kelompok eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan dengan kelompok kontrol. Nilai rata – rata kelompok eksperimen adalah 79.50 sedangkan nilai rata – rata kelompok kontrol adalah 65.60. Selain itu, dari hasil uji hipotesis nilai t observed (to) 2.807 lebih besar dari t critical value (tcv) 2.021. Hal tersebut menunjukkan bahwa hipotesis alternatif (Ha) diterima. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada pengaruh yang signifikan dari penggunaan lagu kreasi sebagai media mengajar terhadap kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa.Kata Kunci : lagu kreasi, media audio, kompetensi Bahasa Inggris. The use of audio media in the form of scripted songs is one of innovative media for teaching English to young learners. It is related to the characteristics of young learners who have short attention span. In order to keep them focus in the lesson, they have to be involved in a pleasure activity like singing songs. This study aimed at investigating the effect of scripted songs based audio media on students’ English competency. This research was an experimental research with post-test only control group design. There were two samples of this study namely SDN 1 Banjar as experimental group and SDN 3 Banjar as the control group which were determined by using random sampling technique. The instruments used to collect data were post-test, teaching scenario and try out test. When the data had been collected, it was analyzed by means of SPSS 21 descriptively and inferentially. The result shows that the mean score of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group. The mean score of the experimental group is 79.50 meanwhile the mean score of the control group is 65.60. In addition, from the t-test result, the t observed (to) 2.807 is higher that t critical value (tcv) 2.021. It indicates that the alternative hypothesis (Ha) is accepted. It means that there is a significant effect of using scripted songs as teaching media on the students’ English competency.keyword : scripted songs, audio media, English competency

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi Declarative Acts dari siswa Jurusan Bahasa. Declarative Acts adalah salah satu jenis dari Speech Acts yang merubah dunia melalui ujaran dan melalui kata-kata (Yule, 2008), dengan kata lain itu merupakan cara mengekspresikan fakta-fakta. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif yang memiliki 4 tujuan; yaitu mendescripsikan mavcam-macam Declarative Acts yang digunakan oleh siswa, mengidentifikasi gaya bahasa dari Declarative Acts siswa Jurusan Bahasa, mengidentifikasi kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa dalam hal grammar dan diction, dan mengidentifikasi sebab dari kesalahan-kesalahan yang dilakukan oleh siswa dala Declarative Acts mereka. Penelitian ini menggunakan metode pancingan dan perekam, pedoman wawancara, dan catatan sebagai alat dalam mengumpulkan data. Kumpulan data kemudian ditulis kembali, dianalisis dan dikategorikan, dan kemudian hasilnya dideskripsikan. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa siswa Jurusan Bahasa lebih sering menggunakan lima kategori Declarative Acts yang lebih dominan adalah to approve, then followed by to disapprove, to name, to call, and the last is to bless. Mereka juga tidak jauh dalam melakukan kesalahan. Mereka lebih sering melakukan kesalahan pada grammar dan diikuti oleh diction. Dari kesalahan-kesalahan siswa, ada lima penyebab kesalahan dalam Declarative Acts siswa; yaitu interlingual errors, ignorance of rule restrictions, incomplete application of rules, false concept hypothesized, and developmental errorsKata Kunci : Speech Acts, Declarative Acts, siswa Jurusan Bahasa This study aimed to identify the Declarative Acts of Language Program students. Declarative Acts are those kinds of speech acts that change the world via their utterance and via words (Yule,2008), in other word it is way in expressing facts. This study is a qualitative study that has 4 purposes; they are to describe the various Declarative Acts used by the students, to identify the style of Language Program students’ Declarative Acts, to identify the errors committed by students in their Declarative Acts in term of grammar and diction, and to identify the source of errors in their Declarative Acts. The subjects of this study are the eleventh grade students of Language Program at SMA Negeri 1 Tejakula. This study used elicitation technique and recorder, interview guide, and field note as the instruments in collecting the data. The data collection then were transcribed, analyzed and categorized, and then the result were described. The result of this study shows the Language Program students mostly produced five categories of Declarative Acts which the most dominant is to approve, then followed by to disapprove, to name, to call, and the last is to bless. The Language Program Students mostly produced Declarative Acts in informal language and followed by formal language. They also were not far from committing the errors. They frequently committed grammatical errors then followed by diction. From the students’ errors, there were five sources that caused errors in their Declarative Acts; they are interlingual errors, ignorance of rule restrictions, incomplete application of rules, false concept hypothesized, and developmental errors.keyword : Speech Acts, Declarative Acts, Language Program students

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mendeskripsikan jumlah prefiks dan suffiks di Dialek Tianyar dan jenisnya dari Infleksi dan Derivasi. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian deskriptif Qualitatif. Dua sampel informan dari Dialek Tianyar dipilih berdasarkan seperangkat kriteria. Data dikumpulkan menggunakan 3 tehnik, yakni: tehnik observasi, merekam, dan wawancara (mencatat dan mendengarkan). Hasil penelitian menunjukan bahwa ada lima jenis prefiks dan lima jenis suffiks di Dialek Tianyar. Prefiks tersebut yakni prefiks {N-}, {ma-}, {sa-}, {pa-}, dan {ka-}. Suffiks tersebut yakni suffiks {-in}, {-ne}, {-an}, {-ang}, dan {-e}. Jenis prefiks dan suffiks yang tergolong derivasi adalah prefiks{N-}, {ma-}, {sa-}, {pa}, and {ka-} dan suffiks {-ang}, {an}, {-ne}, dan {-in}. Jenis prefiks dan suffiks yang tergolong infleksi adalah prefiks {N-}, {ma-}, dan {ka-} dan suffiks {-ang}, {an}, {-ne}, {-in}, dan {-e}.Kata Kunci : derivasi prefiks dan suffiks, infleksi prefiks dan suffiks, dan Dialek Tianyar This study aimed at describing the number of prefixes and suffixes in Tianyar Dialect and its types of inflectional and derivational. This study is a descriptive qualitative research. Two informant samples of Tianyar Dialect were chosen based on a set criteria. The data were collected based on three techniques, namely: observation, recording technique, and interview (listening and noting) technique. The results of the study show that there were five prefixes and five suffixes existed in Tianyar Dialect. The prefixes were {N-}, {ma-}, {sa-}, {pa-}, and {ka-}. The suffixes were {-in}, {-ne}, {-an}, {-ang}, and {-e}. The prefixes and suffixes that belong to derivation are: prefix {N-}, {ma-}, {sa-}, {pa}, and {ka-} and suffix {-ang}, {an}, {-ne}, and {-in}. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui efek dari lagu kreasi berbasis media audio pada kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa. Ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen yang mengimplementasikan desain posttest only control group. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh sekolah dasar yang berada di Kecamatan Sawan. Sampel dari penelitian ini merupakan kelas 5 Sd di SD Negeri 1 Sangsit dimana pengambilan sampel menggunakan tehnik random sampling. Kelas 5 A terdiri dari 33 siswa yang bertindak sebagai grup eksperimen dan kelas B yang terdiri dari 33 siswa bertindak sebagai grup kontrol. Kedua grup tersebut diberikan perlakuan yang berbeda dan diakhiri dengan pemberian posttest. Hasil dari posttest dianalisis secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Hasil menunjukkan bahwa (a) nilai rata-rata dari grup eksperimen lebih tinggi dibandingkan grup control. Nilai rata-rata dari grup eksperimen adalah 89.94 dan nilai rata-rata dari grup kontrol adalah 82.67, dan (b) analisis dari independent samples t-test menunjukkan bahwa nilai tobs adalah 4.116 dan nilai tcv adalah 1.9977. Oleh karena nilai tobs lebih tinggi dibandingkan nilai tcv, maka dapat disimpulkan bahwa lagu kreasi memberikan efek yang signifikan pada kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa.Kata Kunci : Kompetensi Bahasa Inggris, Lagu Kreasi This research aimed at investigating the effect of scripted songs based audio media on the students’ English competence. It was an experimental research which implemented posttest only control group design. The population was all primary schools in Sawan Sub-District. The samples were the two classes of the fifth grade in SD N 1 Sangsit which was chosen by using random sampling. The 5A class which consisted of 33 students was determined as the experimental group and the 5B class which consisted of 33 students was determined as the control group. Both experimental and control group were given different treatments and they were ended by administering the posttest. The result of the posttest was analyzed using both of descriptive and inferential statistical analysis. The result shows that (a) the mean score of the experimental group is higher than that of the control group. The mean score of the experimental group is 89.94 and the mean score of the control group is 82.67, and (b) the analysis of the independent samples t-test that tobs is 4.116 and tcv is 1.9977. Since tobs is higher than tcv, it can be concluded that scripted songs give a significant effect on the students’ English competence.keyword : English competence, Scripted songs

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui bahwa penggunaan lagu kreasi berbasis audio media memiliki efek yang signifikan terhadap kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas lima. Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimen semu yang menggunakan rancangan penelitian post-test only control group design yang dilakukan di SDN 3 Kampung Baru dan SDN 5 Kampung Baru. Populasi dari penelitian ini adalah seluruh siswa kelas lima sekolah dasar yang berada di gugus 1 kecamatan Buleleng. Kemudian, 2 kelas yang terdiri atas 35 murid dipilih sebagai sampel menggunakan teknik cluster random sampling. Sebelum pengajaran dilakukan, peneliti terlebih dahulu melakukan uji kesetaraan normalitas dan homogeneitas terhadap sampel menggunakan nilai ulangan tengah semester. Data kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa diperoleh dari hasil posttest yang mencakup tes listening, reading, writing, dan speaking. Tes yang digunakan adalah tes yang sudah diujicobakan dan dinyatakan valid serta reliabel. Berdasarkan analisis data yang dilakukan, diperoleh t hitung 4.152 dan t table 1.99. Maka, dapat disimpulkan bahwa penggunaan lagu kreasi berbasis media audio memiliki efek yang signifikan terhadap peningkatan kompetensi Bahasa Inggris siswa kelas 5 sekolah dasar di gugus 1 kecamatan Buleleng.Kata Kunci : kompetensi Bahasa Inggris, lagu kreasi, media audio. This study aimed at investigating whether or not the use of scripted songs based audio media has a significant effect toward English competence possessed by the fifth grade students. The design of this current quasi experimental research was post-test only control group. It was conducted in SDN 3 Kampung Baru and SDN 5 Kampung Baru. The population of this research was all the fifth grade students of primary school in sub-district 1 Buleleng. Two classes consisted of 35 students were chosen as the samples by using random sampling technique. Before the treatment was conducted, the researcher used students’ summative score to determine the normality and homogeneity. The data of students’ English competence were obtained from the results of the posttest covering the students’ listening, reading, writing, and speaking skills. The researcher used posttest which was already tried out to determine its validity and reliability. The results show that t observed was 4.152 and t critical value was 1.668. This study concludes that the use of scripted songs based audio media has a significant effect toward the fifth grade students’ English competence in sub-district 1 Buleleng.keyword : audio media, English competence, scripted songs.

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) menyelidiki dan menganalisis jenis strategi komunikasi yang diterapkan oleh guru untuk mengajar siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus, (2) menemukan alasan mengapa guru menggunakan jenis strategi komunikasi, dan (3) mendeskripsikan tanggapan siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus terhadap strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam mengajar dan proses belajar. Subyek penelitian ini adalah guru yang mengajar siswa berkebutuhan khusus di kelas 3, 4, dan 5 di SLB C Singaraja. Data dalam penelitian ini dikumpulkan dengan menggunakan beberapa perangkat seperti: lembar observasi, pedoman wawancara, dan perekam audio video. Data tentang jenis strategi komunikasi dikumpulkan dengan mengamati dan merekam guru melalui proses belajar mengajar, sementara pedoman wawancara digunakan untuk menemukan alasan guru dalam menggunakan jenis strategi komunikasi. Kemudian, data dianalisis secara deskriptif dengan menggunakan beberapa langkah, yaitu coding, pengurangan, kategorisasi, analisis data, dan menampilkan data. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa ada 14 jenis strategi komunikasi yang diterapkan oleh guru untuk mengajar siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus melalui proses belajar mengajar. Guru paling sering menggunakan pengulangan. Ini terjadi selama 46 kali melalui proses belajar mengajar di kelas. Selain itu, alasan para guru dalam menggunakan strategi komunikasi adalah untuk membantu siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus untuk memahami materi dan instruksi dengan mudah. Para siswa dengan kebutuhan khusus juga yang paling sering menunjukkan respon positif terhadap strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru dalam proses belajar mengajar. Kata Kunci : strategi berkomunikasi, siswa berkebutuhan khusus, proses belajar mengajar This study aimed to (1) investigate and analyze the types of communication strategies applied by teachers to teach students with special needs, (2) find the reasons why the teachers used the types of communication strategies, and (3) describe the responses of students with special needs toward communication strategies used by the teachers in teaching and learning process. The subjects of this study were teachers who teach the students with special needs in grade 3, 4, and 5 in SLB C Singaraja. The data in this study were collected by using some devices such as: observation sheet, interview guide, and audio video recorder. The data about the types of communication strategies were collected by observing and recording the teachers through teaching and learning process, while interview guide was used to find the reasons of teachers in using the types of communication strategies. Then, the data were analyzed descriptively by using some steps, namely coding, reduction, categorizing, data analysis, and data display. The results of this study showed that there were 14 types of communication strategies applied by the teachers to teach students with special needs through teaching and learning process. Teachers most frequently used repetition. It occurred for 46 times through teaching and learning process in the classroom. Furthermore, the reason of the teachers in using communication strategies was to help the students with special needs to understand the materials and instructions easier. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jenis-jenis strategi komunikasi yang digunakan oleh guru di kelas II Yayasan Dwi Bahasa Bali Utara dalam berkomunikasi dengan siswa, jenis strategi komunikasi yang paling sering digunakan oleh guru dan alasan guru dalam menerapkan strategi komunikasi untuk berkomunikasi dengan siswa. Subyek penelitian ini adalah guru bahasa Inggris di kelas II di Yayasan Dwi Bahasa Bali Utara. Penelitian ini menggunakan desain kualitatif. Metode pengumpulan data adalah observasi dan wawancara. Temuan menunjukkan bahwa guru menggunakan enam jenis strategi komunikasi, yaitu: approximation (10%), circumlocution (5%), clarification request (10%), comprehension check (20%), use of fillers/hesitation devices (25%) and paralanguage (30%). Paralanguage adalah strategi komunikasi yang paling sering digunakan. Dua alasan utama mengapa guru menerapkan strategi komunikasi, yaitu: strategi komunikasi membantu siswa memahami sesuatu dengan cara yang berbeda dan membantu siswa dalam memahami apa yang dikatakan.Kata Kunci : strategi komunikasi, guru, dwi bahasa This study aimed at finding out the types of communication strategies used by teacher in grade II of North Bali Bilingual School in communicating with students, the type of communication strategies used most frequently by teacher and teacher’s reasons in applying communication strategies to communicate with the students. The subject of this study was an English teacher on grade II in North Bali Bilingual School. The present study employed qualitative design. The methods of data collection were observation and interview. The findings showed that the teacher used six types of communication strategy, namely: approximation (10%), circumlocution (5%), clarification request (10%), comprehension check (20%), use of fillers/hesitation devices (25%) and paralanguage (30%). Paralanguage was the communication strategy which was used most frequently. Two main reasons why the teacher applied communication strategies were found, those are: communication strategies helped the students understand something in different way and helped the students in understanding what is being said. keyword : communication strategies, teacher, bilingual

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujian untuk: (1) mendeskripsikan langakah langkah pada perkawinan Ngidih di desa Sawan, (2) mendeskripsikan jenis jenis strategi berkomunikasi yang digunakan oleh Prajuru ‘kepala desa, klian desa adat, dan delegasi dari keluarga laki-laki’, dalam perkawinan Ngidih di desa Sawan, (3) mengivestigasi alasan dari Prajuru ‘kepala desa, klian desa adat, dan delegasi dari keluarga laki-laki’ dalam menggunakan strategi berkomunikasi pada perkawinan Ngidih di desa Sawan. Bentuk penelitian ini adalah deskriptip. Data yang diperoleh dianalisis dengan cara deskripsi. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah lima orang yang terlibat dalam perkawinan Ngidih di desa Sawan. Berdasarkan penelitian dapat disimpulkan bahwa ada delapan langkah-langkah dalam perkawinan Ngidih di desa Sawan, diantaranya: Ngeluku ‘perkenalan keluarga mempelai laki laki dan perempuan’, Nyedekang/ Meparisedek ‘penentuan hari meminta mempelai perempuan, Ngidih ‘meminta mempelai perempuan untuk dibawa kerumah mempelai laki laki’ Pebiayakala ‘penyucian mempelai laki laki dan perempuan’, Mesakapan/Medengenan ‘penyatuan mempelai laki laki dan perempuan’ , Medapetan ‘pengesahan perkawinan’, Mepedambel ‘menjelaskan berbagai rasa dalam hidup’, and Ngelaliang ‘berkunjung ke rumah mempelai perempuan’. Berdsarkan hasil penelitian maka ditemukan bahwa ada lima jenis strategi berkomunikasi yang digunakan oleh Prajuru ‘kepala desa, klian desa adat, dan delegasi dari keluarga laki-laki’, diantaranya: approximation, circumlocution, language switching, paralanguage, dan clarification request. Alasan mereka menggunkan strategi berkomunikasi, diantaranya: untuk mengidari kesalahpahaman/ membuat pendengar mengerti, memberikan penjelasan yang baik, dan menekankan ucapan ucapan.
