Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui jumlah siswa yang dikategorikan bermasalah dalam kompetensi membaca dengan menerapkan Teknik Pelajaran Kosa Kata pada kelas VIIIE SMPN 3 Singaraja Tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Ada beberapa langkah yang digunakan pada teknik Pelajaran Kosa Kata. Diantaranya 1) bunyi dan makna 2) pengulangan 3)penulisan isi 4)kalimat pembantu. Untuk mencapai tujuan, peneliti menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK). Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah siswa dari kelas VIIIE SMPN 3 Singaraja. Dalam penelitian ini, peneliti menggunakan beberapa instrumen untuk pengumpulan data. 1) test 2) catatan peneliti 3) kuisioner. Data diperoleh dari hasil analisis mengguakan metode kualitatif dan kuantitatif. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa penerapan pelajaran kosa kata telah mengurangi jumlah siswa yang dikategorikan bermasalah dalam kemampuan membaca dari kelas VIIIE SMPN 3 Singaraja pada tahun ajaran 2015/2016. Pertama, berdasarkan kemampuan membaca siswa secara umum; kedua, kemampuan membaca siswa berdasarkan jenis teks; dan yang ketiga, kemampuan membaca siswa berdasakan indikator. Jumlah siswa yang bermasalah dalam kompetensi membaca berdasarkan kemampuan siswa secara umum, ada 30(88%) siswa dari 34 siswa pada test observasi awal; pada siklus I mengalami penurunan menjadi 10(33.33%) siswa; dan pada siklus terakhir ada 3(8.79%) siswa yang mengalami masalah dalam kompetensi membaca. 3 orang siswa yang pada siklus terakhir tidak mampu mencapai ketuntasan minimal (75) karena kurangnya motivasi dan terbatas dalam kosa kata.Berdasarkan catatan peneliti, penerapan pelajaran kosa kata mampu memotivasi siswa dalam mengikuti kelas membaca. Dalam kuisioner siswa juga memberi respon positif kepada pelaksanaan pelajaran kosa kata tersebut. Kata Kunci : Kompeteni membaca, Teknik Pelajaran Kosa Kata This research was aimed at finding out the decreasing number of students had problem in reading competency by implementing Vocabulary Study Technique of class VIIIE at SMPN 3 Singaraja in academic year 2015/2016. There were some steps that can be used in Vocabulary Study Technique. There are 1) sound and meaning, 2) repetition, 3) written form, and 4) illustrative sentence. To achieve the goal, the researcher used action based research. The subjects of this research were the students of class VIIIE at SMPN 3 Singaraja. In this research, the researcher used some instruments to collect the data. 1) test 2) researcher diary 3) questionnaire. The data obtained from the test were analyzed by using descriptive and quantitative method. The data obtained from the researcher diary and the questionnaires were analyzed by using qualitative method. The result of this research showed that the implementation of Vocabulary Study Technique could decrease number of students had problem in reading competency of class VIIIE at SMPN 3 Singaraja in academic year 2015/2016.First, based on general reading competency; second, based on the students’ reading competency based on the text type; and the last, based on the students’ reading competency based on its indicators. The total number of students had problem in reading competency based on general reading competency, there were 30(88%) students from 34 students in preliminary observation test; while in cycle I was decreased become 10(33.33%) students; then in the last cycle there were 3(8.79%) students still had problem in reading competency. The 3 students in cycle II, they couldn’t pass the performance indicators (75) because they lack of motivation in reading and lack of vocabulary. Based on researcher’s diary, the implementation of Vocabulary Study Technique could motivate them to follow the reading class. On the questionnaire the students also gave the positive response to the implementation of Vocabulary Study Technique. keyword : reading competency, vocabulary study technique

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui ada atau tidaknya perbedaan yang berarti antara siswa yang diajarkan dengn menggunakan Teknik Clustering dikombinasikan dengan Peer Assessment dan siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakana teknik menulis yang konvensional. Rancangan penelitian ini adalah Post-test Only Control Group Design. Populasi penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 3 Singaraja. Sampel penelitian ini berjumlah 68 siswa yang dipilih dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Hasil analisis memperlihatkan bahwa ada perbedaan yang berarti dalam kemampuan menulis antara siswa yang diajarakan dengan menggunakan teknik clustering dikombinasikan dengan peer assessment dan siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan teknik menulis konvensional (tobs = -7.322, Sig. 0.001) diaman siswa yang diajarkan dengan menggunakan teknik clustering dikombinasikan dengan peer assessment memiliki kemampuan menulis yang lebih baik.Kata Kunci : Kemampuan menulis, Teknik Clustering dan Peer Assessment This study was aimed at investigating whether there was a significant difference in writing competency of students who were taught by using Clustering Technique combined with Peer Assessment and those who were taught by using Conventional Writing Technique. The research design of this study was Posttest Only Control Group Design. The population of this study was the eighth grade students of SMP Negeri 3 Singaraja. The sample of this study was 68 students which were selected by using random sampling technique. Result of analysis show that there is a difference in writing competency between students taught by using Clustering Technique combined with Peer Assessment and those taught by using conventional writing technique, (tobs = -7.322, Sig. 0.001) in which the students taught by using Clustering Technique combined with Peer Assessment achieve better in writing achievement.keyword : Writing Competency, Clustering Technique, and Peer Assessment

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk memaparkan kesesuaian antara rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran (RPP) dengan Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan (KTSP). Untuk mencapai tujuan tersebut, peneliti menggunakan beberapa teknik pengumpulan data, antara lain analisis RPP, mendeskripsikan rincian dan wawancara. Penelitian ini adalah jenis penelitian deskriptif guru kelas VIII SMP Negeri 6 Singaraja kualitatif dalam bentuk studi evaluatif. Analisis dilakukan dengan menggunakan Alat Penilaian Kemampuan Calon Guru (APKCG) sebagai instrumen dan melibatkan dua evaluator. Penelitian ini diharapkan dapat memberi guru dan juga sekolah informasi tambahan mengenai pentingnya rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran dan memberikan refleksi berdasarkan hasil analisis dari rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran agar mereka mengetahui apa yang harus ditingkatkan. Penemuan dari penelitian ini mengindikasikan bahwa rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran dari guru kelas VIII SMP Negeri 6 Singaraja dikategorikan Cukup sesuai dengan nilai yang didapat dari aspek dalam APKCG. Disamping itu, peneliti juga menggunakan tabel rincian untuk mendapatkan deskripsi dan rincian dari analisis kedua evaluator. Dari hal tersebut, diklarifikasikan bahwa guru kelas VIII SMP Negeri 6 Singaraja masih memiliki beberapa masalah dalam hal kelengkapan materi pembelajaran dan instrumen penilaian, dan juga dalam pemilihan sumber belajar tambahan disamping buku pegangan. Kata Kunci : guru, Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan, rencana pelaksanaan pembelajaran This research aimed to describe the quality of the Eight Grade’s teachers’ lesson plans of SMP Negeri 6 Singaraja involving its appropriateness to the principle of To achieve the aim, researcher used some techniques of data collection, such as lesson plan analysis, describing details, and interview. This research was kind of descriptive qualitative research in form of evaluative study. The analysis was conducted using Alat Penilaian Kemampuan Calon Guru (APKCG) as the instrument by contributing two evaluators. This research was expected to give teachers as well as schools additional information about the importance of lesson plan and give reflections based on the result of lesson plan analysis to make them know what should be improved. The research findings indicate that Eight Grade’s teachers’ lesson plans of SMP Negeri 6 Singaraja are categorized as average based on the scores obtained from the aspects in APKCG. Besides, researcher used detail tables to gain more descriptions and details of the analysis from both evaluators. From that, it is clarified the Eight Grade’s teachers’ lesson plans at SMP Negeri 6 Singaraja still have some problems especially in the completeness of learning material and evaluation instrument, and also in the selection of additional learning sources besides manual books. keyword : Kurikulum Tingkat Satuan Pendidikan, lesson plans, teachers

Abstract

Abstrak Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa menggunakan teknik role play. Subjek penelitian ini adalah siswa kelas delapan kelas A di SMP Negeri 1 Banjar, tahun akademik 2015/2016. Jumlah subjek penelitian ini adalah 37 siswa. Penelitian ini di desain menggunakan penelitian tindakan kelas dimana dilakukan dalam dua siklus. Tiap siklus berisi empat langkah seperti: perencanaan, tindakan, observasi, dan refleksi. Pre-test diberikan kepada siswa untuk mengetahui pengetahuan dasar pada kosa kata yang telah mereka pelajari. Data diperoleh dengan menggunakan dua jenis instrument: test dan questionnaire yang di analisis secara deskirptif. Hasil penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa role play dapat efektif meningkatkan kemampuan siswa di berbicara. Peningkatan siswa di lihat dari skor rata-rata yang diperoleh siswa. Skor rata-rata pre-test adalah 51,13 dan ini dalam tingkat kurang. Peningkatan Skor menjadi 66,32 di posttest 1 yang mana berada di tingkat baik. Peningkatan skor menjadi 70,05 berada di tingkat baik. Hasil dari questionnaire dan informal interview mengindikasikan bahwa 85,83% siswa menyukai pelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan teknik role play dengan motivasi tinggi. Dapat disimpulkan bahwa role play adalah teknik yang efektif untuk meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris Kata Kunci : Berbicara, teknik role play This study was aimed at improving speaking competence of the students by using role play technique. The subjects of this research were the eighth grade students of class A at SMP Negeri 1 Banjar in the academic year 2015/2016. The total number of subjects was 37 students. This study was designed with a classroom action research which was conducted in two cycles that consisted of four meetings, three meetings were used to apply the role play technique and one meeting was used for the test and questionnaire. Each cycle involved four steps namely: planning, action, observation, and reflection. Pre-test was given to students in order to know the initial knowledge on vocabulary they had learnt. The data were obtained using two kinds of instruments: tests and questionnaires that would be analyzed descriptively. The result of this study showed that role play could effectively improve the students’ competence in speaking. The improvement of the students was noted from the mean score obtained by the students. The mean score of the pre test was 51.13 and this was in poor level. The score increased up to 66.32 in post test 1 in which was good level. The score increased up to 70.05 and was a good level. The result of questionnaire indicated that 85.83% and 98.91% students liked learning English by using role play technique with high motivation. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui pengaruh signifikan pada pernyuaraan video yang diredam terhadap pencapaian penulisan siswa kelas VIII SMP Laboratorium UNDIKSHA tahun akademik 2015/2016. Posttest-only control group adalah desain penelitian ini. Populasi pada penelitian ini adalah semua siswa kelas VIII SMP Laboratorium Undiksha terdiri dari 140 siswa didistribusikan ke dalam empat kelas. Teknik sampling acak digunakan untuk menentukan yang kelas yang dipilih sebagai kelompok kontrol dan kelas yang terpilih sebagai kelompok eksperimen. Siswa di kelas VIII 2 dipilih secara acak sebagai kelompok eksperimen yang diajar dengan metode pernyuaraan video yang diredam dan VIII 1 kelas yang dipilih secara acak sebagai kelompok kontrol yang diajar dengan metode pembelajaran konvensional. VIII 2 kelas terdiri dari 35 siswa dan VIII 1 kelas terdiri dari 35 siswa. Hasil analisis data menunjukkan bahwa siswa yang diajar oleh pernyuaraan video yang diredam lebih baik daripada mereka yang diajarkan dengan metode pengajaran konvensional. Hasil analisis statistik deskriptif rata-rata nilai pencapaian menulis siswa kelompok kontrol adalah 74,85, sedangkan kelompok eksperimen adalah 80,45. Hasil analisis uji-t dari tobs adalah 2,177. Itu lebih tinggi dari nilai tcv di 1.995469 (α = 0,05). Nilai (sig.) Adalah 0,033 lebih rendah dari nilai signifikansi α = 0,05. Oleh karena itu, hipotesis ditolak. Kesimpulannya, pernyuaraan video yang diredam memiliki efek positif dan signifikan terhadap pencapaian menulis siswa.Kata Kunci : Penyuaraan video yang diredam, Pencapaian menulis This experimental study was aimed at finding out the significant effect of muted dubbing video on the writing achievement of the eighth grade students of SMP Laboratorium Undiksha in academic year of 2015/2016. Post-test only control group was the design of this study. The population of this study was all eighth grade students of SMP Laboratorium Undiksha consisted of 140 students and distributed into four classes. Random sampling technique was used in order to define which class selected as control group and which class selected as experiment group. Students at VIII 2 class selected randomly as experiment group which was taught by Muted Dubbing Video method and VIII 1 class selected randomly as control group which was taught by conventional teaching method. VIII 2 class consisted of 35 students and VIII 1 class consisted of 35 students. The result of data analysis show that the students who taught by Muted Dubbing Video performed better than those who were taught by conventional teaching method. The descriptive statistic analysis result of students’ writing achievement mean score of control group was 74.85, while the experiment group was 80.45. The result of t-test analysis of the tobs was 2.177. It was higher than the value of the tcv at 1.995469 (α = 0.05). The value (sig.) was 0.033 lower than significance value of α = 0.05. Therefore, the hypothesis was rejected. In conclusion, Muted Dubbing Video has a positive and significant effect on students’ writing achievement.keyword : Muted Dubbing Video, Writing Achievement

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk meningkatkan kemampuan berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa kelas XI AP1 di SMK Negeri 4 Bangli dengan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis proyek sebagai pendekatan pembelajaran. Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah kelas XI AP1 dengan jumlah 25 siswa. Penelitian ini menggunakan jenis penelitian tindakan kelas (PTK) dan diselesaikan dengan dua siklus. Hasil dari penelitian ini menunjukkan bahwa dengan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis proyek sebagai pendekatan pembelajaran dapat meningkatakan kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris siswa XI AP1 SMK Negeri 4 Bangli. Hasil Post-Test 2 menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh siswa XI AP1 berjumlah 80. Sedangkan pada test awal (pre-test) nilai rata-rata yang diperoleh siswa kelas XI AP1 69. Presentase jumlah murid yang lulus juga meningkat dari 28% menjadi 68%. Hasil dari presentase kelulusan yang diperoleh dari post-test 2 dengan jumlah 100% sudah melebihi dari target yang ditetapkan dengan jumlah 75%. Hasil kuesioner juga menunjukkan bahwa siswa memberikan kesan positif terhadap pembelajaran bahasa Inggris dengan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis proyek sebgai pendekatan pembelajaran. Pembelajaran bahasa Inggis dengan menggunakan pembelajaran berbasis proyek dapat meningkatkan kemampuan siswa dalam berbicara bahasa Inggris. Kata Kunci : Kata kunci: Pembelajaran berbasis proyek, kemampuan berbicara This study aimed at improving speaking competency of the eleventh grade AP1 students at SMK Negeri 4 Bangli by using project-based learning as learning approach. The subjects of this study were the eleventh grade AP1 students of SMK Negeri 4 Bangli which consisted 25 students. The study was conducted by following the action research procedures and it was completed in two cycles. The result of the study showed that speaking competency of the eleventh grade AP1 could be improved by using project-based learning. The result of post-test 2 proved that the students’ mean score was 80 which significantly improved from the pre-test result that was 69. The class percentage of the students passing the test was 100% which was beyond the expected target which was 75%. Based on the questionnaire result, the students also had positive response towards the implementation of project-based learning approach. The result showed that learning English using project-based learning could improve their speaking competency in terms of fluency, pronunciation, grammar, and vocabulary. keyword : Keywords: Project-based learning, speaking competency

Abstract

This study was a qualitative research. This study intended : 1) to identify and classify the types and the pettern of expressive used by the eleventh grade students at SMA N 2 Singaraja in expressive. 2) to identify the style of the students locutionary acts to express something. 3) to identify and classify the types of errors are committed by eleventh grade students at SMA N 2 Singaraja expressing their idea in terms of grammar and diction 4) to analyze the source of error as committed by the students’ locutionary acts.The subject of this study were eleventh grade students of SMAN 2 Singaraja. The data were collected by using several instrument, namely: note, interview guide and recorder. The results of the study showed that 1) The types of expressive acts were used among the eleventh grade students at SMA N 2 Singaraja were apologizing, thanking, congratulating, and welcoming. 2) The speech style used in terms of formality among the eleventh grade students at SMA N 2 Singaraja were 78.01% informal language and 21.99% formal language. 3) The errors are commited in their utterances in terms of grammar and diction at SMA N 2 Singaraja were 54.03% error of grammar and 45.97% error of diction. 4) The source of errors were commited by the eleventh grade students at SMA N 2 Singaraja were called as interlanguage errors. These errors happed when the interference of students’ first language occured in the target language. In other words, the students assumed that the structures of their first language are the same with the target language. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk (1) mengidentifikasi written feedback yang ideal dalam tulisan berbahasa inggris siswa. (2) mengidentifikasi respon – respon siswa terhadap written feedback yang diberikan guru terhadap tulisan berbahasa inggris siswa. Identifikasi terhadap written feedback yang ideal ditinjau berdasarkan theory dari Nicol (2010). Identifikasi terhadap respon – respon siswa terhadap written feedback ditinjau berdasarkan theory dari Gibbs and Simpson (2003). Subjek dari penelitian ini adalah guru dan siswa –siswa di kelas XII AP 1 di SMK N 1 Seririt. Penelitian ini adalah penelitian survai. Instrumen yang digunakan dalam penelitian ini adalah peneliti peneliti itu sendiri, dokumentasi, panduan wawancara dan angket. Data diperoleh dengan mengumpulkan dokumentasi siswa, panduan interview dan angket. Hasil dari penelitian menunjukkan bahwa ada enam karakteristik yang digunakan guru dalam pemberian written feedback yaitu understandable, selective, specific, timely, balanced and forward looking. Penelitian ini juga difokuskan dengan respon – respon siswa terhadap written feedback. Penelitian ini menggunakan tiga skala untuk mengukur respon – respon siswa terhadap written feedback. Tiga skala tersebut diantaranya jumlah dan waktu dari written feedback, kualitas dari written feedback dan kegunaan dari written feedback. Penelitian ini menemukan bahwa siswa menyadari akan pentingnya written feedback dalam menulis. Penelitian ini diharapkan kepada guru bahasa inggris untuk mengaplikasikan sebuah written feedback yang ideal. Kata Kunci : feedback, written feedback dan respon siswa ABSTRACT This study was aimed at (1) identify the ideal written feedback on the students’ EFL writing in SMKN 1 Seririt and (2) identify the students’ responses toward written feedback given by the teacher towards their EFL writing in SMKN 1 Seririt. The identification of ideal written feedback characteristics was crosschecked with the theory of Nicol (2010). The identification of students’ responses towards written feedback was crosscheck with the theory of Gibbs and Simpson (2003). The subjects of the study were a teacher and thirty nine students at XII AP 1 class of SMK N 1 Seririt. This study was a survey research. The instruments used in collecting the data were the researcher herself, documentation, interview guide and questionnaire. The data were gathered by collecting the students’ documentation, interview and questionnaire. The result of the study showed that there are six ideal characteristics of written feedback that the teacher used in giving written feedback namely understandable, selective, specific timely, balanced and forward looking. This also focused on students’ responses towards written feedback. This study used three scales to measure the students’ responses towards written feedback. The three scales were (1) quantity and timing of written feedback (2) quality of written feedback (3) use of written feedback. The triangulate data of this study found that the students’ got an ideal written feedback. This study also found that the students realize that written feedback was useful for their writing. Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengidentifikasi dan mendeskripsikan bentuk linguistik, arti dan fungsi jargon yang digunakan oleh resepsionis pada front office di Asa Bali Luxury Villa and Spa Seminyak. Jargon dianalisis dengan menggunakan teori dari Allan & Buridge (2006), dan di dukung oleh teori Yule 2006, Chaer & Agustina 2010. Penelitian ini di desain menggunakan metode penelitian kualitatif. Jargon yang di identify kasi adalah jargon yang digunakan dalam bentuk lisan dan tertulis. Tehknik - tehknik yang digunakan dalam mengumpulkan data adalah observasi, dokumentasi dan interview. Dalam hasil penelitian, ditemukan 120 jargon yang digunakan oleh resepsionis di front office Asa Bali Villa and Spa. Dalam bentuk linguistik, jargon – jargon yang digunakan oleh resepsionis terdiri dari noun phrases (46 atau 38%), abbreviation (29 atau 24%), noun (21 atau 18%), clipping (5 atau 4.1%), affixation (4 atau 3.2%), borrowing (4 atau 3.2%), acronym (3 atau 2.4%), preposition phrases (3 atau 2.4%), verb (2 atau 1.6%), adjective (2 atau 1.6%), coinage (1 atau 0.5%). Arti dari 120 jargon didefinisikan berdasaran interview pada staff villa, dokumen resepsionis, kamus, dan konteks penggunaan jargon. Data analisis menunjukan terdapat dua fungsi jargon, (1) sebanyak 37 data (30%) menyajikan bahasa yang khusus untuk mengefisienkan komunikasi dan (2) 83 data (70%) meningkatkan solidaritas dalam kelompok. The jargon was analyzed respectively through Allan & Burridge’s (2006) theory and supported by Yule’s (2006) theory, and Chaer & Agustina’s (2010) theory. This study was conducted in qualitative method. The front office jargons were investigated in spoken and written forms. The subjects of this study were receptionists of the front office department at Asa Bali Luxury Villa and Spa Seminyak. The methods of data collection were observation, documentation and interview. This study found that 120 types of jargon were used by receptionists in front office department. It was found that the jargon was in the form of noun phrases (46 or 38%), abbreviation (29 or 24%), noun (21 or 18%), clipping (5 or 4.1%), affixation (4 or 3.2%), borrowing (4 or 3.2%), acronym (3 or 2.4%), preposition phrases (3 or 2.4%), verb (2 or 1.6%), adjective (2 or 1.6%), and coinage (1 or 0.5%). The meanings of 123 jargon was identified by investigating technical meaning. Besides, this study found that there were two functions of the jargon, (1) providing a technical or specialist language to make communication more efficient and (2) encouraging group solidarity. Abstract

Penelitian ini merupakan penelitian eksperimental yang menganalisis efektivitas penggunaan Teknik CIRC difasilitasi dengan fanfiction terhadap kemampuan menulis siswa kelas delapan di SMP Negeri 2 Banjarangkan. Subyek penelitian ini adalah dua kelas di kelas delapan yang telah dipilih secara acak dan setiap kelas terdiri dari 30 siswa, kelas VIII C sebagai kelompok eksperimen dan kelas VIII E sebagai kelompok kontrol. Penelitian ini menggunakan teori Durukan (2010) dan Thomas (2011) sebagai landasan teori. Proses analisis data dilakukan secara deskriptif dan inferensial. Dari hasil analisis statistik deskriptif, siswa diajarkan dengan menggunakan teknik CIRC Difasilitasi dengan fanfiction memiliki kompetensi yang lebih baik daripada mereka yang diajarkan oleh Konvensional Strategi Menulis. Hal ini dibuktikan dengan hasil post-test mereka. Analisis deskriptif menunjukkan bahwa nilai rata-rata dari kelompok eksperimen 85,13 lebih tinggi daripada kelompok kontrol 77,97. Dari analisis inferensial dapat dilihat bahwa nilai signifikan tobs (sig. (2-tailed)) adalah 0,000. Karena 0,000
