Data were analyzed from the form of speech acts consisting of direct and indirect speech acts in the form of declarative, imperative, and interrogative. The type of speech act analysis uses Searle's theory of representative, directive, commissive, expressive, and declaration. The result of this research is that direct speech act in interrogative form is 43.63%. Direct speech acts in the declarative form are 95 (43.18%), direct speech acts in the imperative form are 24 (10.90%), indirect speech acts in the imperative form are 2 (0.9%), indirect speech acts in imperative form as much as 2 (0.9%). interrogative form is 2 (0.9%), and indirect speech act in declarative form is 1 (0.45%). Furthermore, 74 utterances are analyzed into five types of speech acts. The most dominant representative used 36 (48.6%). Then followed by directive 21 (28.3%), expressive 14 (18.9%), commissive 3 (4.0%), and declarative 0 (0.0%). Abstract

Not all teachers can operate computers or gadgets in online learning activities. Another problem is that the teacher finds it difficult to control every activity and student response to the material. This is due to the absence of learning discussions and the absence of students in the middle of the class. The purpose of this study is to analyze the challenges encountered during online English learning. This type of research is qualitative. This study uses library research methods with library research procedures guidelines. The technique used to collect data is the reduction technique—sources of data derived from scientific articles. The result of the study is that bold learning during the Covid-19 outbreak provides many challenges for students to follow. Internal factors can trigger external problems and vice versa. Internal factors that come from within students include motivation, learning attitudes, study habits, and personal practice. External factors that come from outside the students themselves are related to the environment around students. External factors include the media used by students and the environment in terms of financial problems and the learning environment. Therefore, online learning is still lacking, and other solutions are needed to improve the quality internally and externally.

Abstract

E-learning dramatically changes the learning process. As a result, both teachers and students have to work hard to adapt to the process. In response to these changes, this study aims to analyze the perceptions of junior high school, senior high school, and parents regarding online learning. This study involved 44 parents, 24 junior high school students, and 20 high school students. Data were collected using two questionnaires. The data collected were analyzed quantitatively in the form of percentages. The results of data analysis show that junior high school students use computers/devices for online learning activities; however, they consider traditional methods (live class meetings) to be more appropriate than online learning. (2) High school students also use their computers/devices for online learning and have full support from their teachers, but they prefer traditional methods. They consider traditional methods more effective than online learning, and (3) parents prefer traditional methods over online learning. Therefore, teachers are advised to be creative in teaching online; parents are expected to continue to control their students' online learning. More research is needed so that more information about online learning can be obtained.
