Abstract

The need for rice as one of the main food sources of the Indonesian population continues to increase in line with the increase of population with a rate of 2% per year. The objective of this research is to know the response of four cultivars of upland rice to different soil moisture content, drought resistant cultivars and water content where cultivars are difficult or can not grow. The research was conducted at Green House Agrotechnology, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University of Palu. From March to June 2017. This research was prepared using Completely Randomized Design (CRD) two factors consisting of local rice cultivar as first factor that is Cultivar Tagolu, Cultivar Habo, Uva Buya Cultivar and Cultivar Dongan. While Soil Humidity Level as the second factor soil moisture level 100%, 75%, 50% and 25%. The results showed that the Habo cultivar and Dongan cultivars have long and wider leaves, the number of grains contained, the number of tillers, the number of leaves, and the weight of 1000 grains better compared to other cultivars. At 75% and 50% soil moisture levels can still grow crops well compared to 25% moisture level. The influence of soil moisture level is similar in all cultivars.

Abstract

It aims to determine the effect of moringa seeds as coagulant harvested at various altitudes to grow on water quality of the river and to get the best moringa seeds as coagulant that gives the best effect on the quality of river water hammer. This study uses a completely randomized design (CRD) pattern of the factors that altitude grow consisting of 4 levels of elevation which is 36, 177, 340 and 639 m above sea level. Each treatment was repeated 4 times to obtain 16 experimental units. The data were analyzed statistically using variant analysis (ANOVA). If the treatment shows the real effect or very real continued with Test Honestly Significant Difference (HSD) at level 5 or 1 percent. The results showed that the coagulant moringa seeds were harvested at various altitudes to grow a very real effect on the quality of river water (pH, electrical conductivity, turbidity and total dissolved solids). Coagulant Moringa seeds of altitude grow 36 m above sea level provides the highest percentage increase of the quality of river water that lowers the pH of river water by 8.24, 50.40% electrical conductivity, turbidity 58.91% and 47.39% total dissolved solids

Abstract

Climate change can be reduced by, among other things, suppressing the rate of soil carbon change, absorbing carbon and stored in the form of woody biomass, so the easiest way to increase carbon stocks is to maintain the integrity of natural forests and plant trees on agricultural lands to remain vegetated. This study aims to determine total soil organic matter, C-organic litter and grass on soil surface, species weight and carbon content of trees on three kinds of land use ie forest land, cocoa field and clove land in Tudua Village, Central Bungku District, Morowali District. Analysis of carbon stocks was carried out at the Soil Science Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University. This research was conducted in December 2016 until March 2017. The method used in this research is using quadrant method, which is one of the most common data retrieval method used in vegetation analysis. the results showed that the highest total soil organic matter found on forest land is 178,41 t ha-1and 108,76 t ha-1at a depth of 0-20 cm and 21-40 cm. Vegetation of trees on forest land is capable of producing the highest litter and grass with total dry weight 67,60 t ha-1so its carbon stock 31,09 t ha-1. The highest carbon content of tree vegetation is found in forest land 42,1490 t ha-1, while clove land amounts 36,215t ha-1and on a cocoa field of 8,9873 t ha-1.
