Abstract

The agricultural sector is the primary sector encouraging and driving the national economy. The agricultural sector also has functions of providing food for the society and also contributing foreign exchange as well as providers of employment and raw materials for the industrial sectors. Indonesian people who live in rural areas make agriculture as the main livelihood and food crops are the superior commodity in Indonesia. This research was conducted in Soulove village, SigiBiromarusub district, Sigiregency. This research used 30 respondents selected from 90 farmers using a simple random sampling method.Data analysis used a Cobb-Douglas production function and price efficiency which was NPM = Pxi. The purposes of this research were to determine the production input influence on sweet corn production and to determine the level of efficiency of input production used on sweet corn farming system in Soulove Village, Sigi Biromaru District, Sigi Regency. The analysis results of the research shows that land area size, seeds, fertilizers, pesticides and labors simultaneouslyaffected the production of sweet corn significantly, at α level of 1%. The results of efficiency analysis showed that the use of land area (x1) by the sweet corn farmers had not been efficient while the use of seed (x2), fertilizer (x3), pesticide (x4) and labor (x5) by sweet corn farmers was inefficient. Keywords: Analysis Efficiency, Cobb-Douglas, Sigi Regency, Sweet Corn.

Abstract

The research aims were to determine some chemical characteristics of soil under different position in slope land and to determine soil chemical characteristics under several toposequencein Poboya watershed of Palu.  Descriptive explorative method was employed to analyze data collected and the research variables were approached through field survey and supported by results of soil analysis in the Environment Laboratory of Faculty of Agriculture, Tadulako University.  The research was conducted in June – Desember 2015.  The differences of soil sites in slope position affected the soil chemical characteristics.  Soil pH was acid ranging from 4.55-5.78in the upper slope but slightly acid ranging from 4.65-6.28in the lower slope. Similarly, C-organic, N-total, C/N ratio, P-total, K-total and CEChad a tendency to be higher in the lower slope than in the upper slope.  Saturated bases were higher in the upper slope than in the lower slope.  Saturated basesalso tended to increase with soil depth at the upper slope.  In contrast, P-total and K-total tended to decrease with soil depth in the lower slope. Keywords: Poboya watershed, and Slope.

Abstract

The research aimed at determining the vegetative growth of sorghum (Sorghum bicolorL.) grown under various rate of gamal leaf bokashi and soil water content.  The research was arranged using a two-factorial completely randomized design in which each experimental unit had three replicates.  Three different rates of the gamal leaf bokashi were applied i.e. with no bokashi added(b0), 20 t/ha bokashi(b20), and 40 t/ha bokashi (b40).  Similarly, three different levels of water contents were implemented i.e. water content equal to 100% field capacity (k100), 75% field capacity (k75) and 50% field capacity (k50).  Variable observed were number of leaf, fresh dan dried plant weight, fresh and dried root weigh and soil bulk density. Interaction between the bokashi with the water content significantly affected all variable observed.  In general, the plant growth either under the 75%or 50% field capacity water content were not significantly reduced compared to those growth under the 100% field capacity water content as long as the rate of bokashi was 20 t/ha.  Soil bulk density increased with increased the bokashi rates at various water contents. Keywords: Gamalleaf bokashi, Soil field capacity and Sorghum.
