Abstract

The Reformed Church reconstructed a new identity for women as equal to men. The church reforms provided a bridge to the acceptance of women as pastors. If pastoral status is no longer a major issue in most denominations, the structural strategic status of the church is not. The number of women pastors who have succeeded in occupying structural strategic positions is still low. This condition indicates the occurrence of a glass ceiling. Glass ceiling is a metaphor that describes the existence of an invisible barrier in the form of a glass ceiling that prevents minorities such as women from occupying strategic positions. This paper is intended to identify the factors that contribute to the glass ceiling in women pastors. Identification was conducted using the qualitative method of a literature review of several journals and books. The results revealed that there are four glass ceiling factors. The first is the internal factor, self-efficacy (self-confidence, intention to persevere and self-development, ambition, education and experience, adaptability, and cognitive ability). Second is institutional/organizational factors (work environment), such as masculine work environment and culture, "queen bee" syndrome, and the threat of sexual harassment. Third, the preference factor (women's sex role), namely the double role (double burden)      causes women to experience overwork. Fourth, stereotypes are the result of patriarchal culture (sociological aspect) and church teachings (theological aspect).

Abstract

This paper examines the hadith about women being leaders and reviews the textual and contextual rules of Muhammad Shuhudi Ismail. This shows that hadith should not always be understood textually but by taking into account the socio-historical and contextual context of the hadith. The purpose of writing this article is to elaborate on the law of women's leadership in the public sphere. This research method uses a library research approach that aims to explore the study of women's leadership law in the public sphere. The analysis method in this study uses the content analysis method. The results of the research in this paper are: first, the textual hadith of the appointment of women to leadership was forbidden, and at that time women did not have any authority at all. Second, contextually, the understanding of the hadith of women becoming leaders changes with the passage of time, which is increasingly current. Third, classify women's hadith into leaders as hadith related to the situation that is happening (developing). Therefore, the hadith must be understood contextually because the content of the hadith instructions is temporal. The discussion about women's leadership has never subsided, so in the research, the author wants to contribute to complementing the study by trying to provide a different lens about women's leadership in the public sphere explored in the textual and contextual understanding of Syuhudi Ismail. This paper also contributes to strengthening the value of gender equality in Islamic religious teachings, thus encouraging the application of humanitarian principles and justice in society.

Abstract

The Toba Batak Community's customary law is one of the customary laws that is still alive with a kinship system that follows the father's lineage (patrilineal) which differentiates the position of sons and daughters. This research uses empirical methods. The results of the research explain that the position of widows and daughters in the Toba Batak tribe according to customary law is not as heirs, but based on the Supreme Court decision no. 179K/Sip/1961 Dated 23-10-1961 based on a sense of humanity and general justice, as well as on the nature of equal rights between women and men, the equal position between men and women can be seen in Presidential Instruction No. 9 of 2000 concerning Gender Mainstreaming in National Development. The Position of Divorced Widows in Batak Customary Inheritance Law. Gender Perspective. In the patrilineal kinship system adopted by Batak society, men are placed in a higher position. Societies that adhere to a partial kinship system of women have a very low position, so it is necessary to reformulate the position of women in the field of customary law, by establishing a national customary law of inheritance that is bilateral in nature
