Abstract

This paper presents a differential evolution optimization technique based methodology for congestion management cost optimization of contingent power networks. In Deregulated systems, line congestion apart from causing stability problems can increase the cost of electricity. Restraining line flow to a particular level of congestion is quite imperative from stability as well as economy point of view. Employing ‘Congestion Sensitivity Index’ proposed in this paper, the algorithm proposed can be adopted for selecting the congested lines in a power networks and then to search for a congestion constrained optimal generation schedule at the cost of a minimum ‘congestion management charge’ without any load curtailment and installation of FACTS devices. It has been depicted that the methodology on application can provide better operating conditions in terms of improvement of bus voltage and loss profile of the system. The efficiency of the proposed methodology has been tested on an IEEE 30 bus benchmark system and the results look promising.

Abstract

Traveling-wave-based fault location in electrical distribution systems is an important safeguard for the distribution network reliability. The effectiveness of the methods is verified directly in power grid in the early stages, while different fault types can't appear in a short time. And normal dynamic physical simulation cannot meet the teaching demand either because of the limitation of transmission line model and other factors. So PSCAD/EMTDC and MATLAB are used to illustrate the the fault location methods in this paper, which can promote the traveling-wave-based fault-location technology. Meanwhile, the traveling-wave-based fault-location method based on characteristic frequencies is analyzed in this paper.

Abstract

Abstract

Electrical tracking is a formation process of a permanent conducting path across the insulating material due to surface erosion under high voltage stress. The existing of leakage current (LC) on the wet contaminated material surface causes the generation of surface discharges that resulted in the material degradation. The effects of electric field distribution and current density on LLDPE-Natural Rubber blends material were investigated using finite element method (FEM) analysis. In this paper, a variety of physical parameters particularly contaminant flow rate, various applied voltages, material properties of permittivity and conductivity were studied when nanofiller is added to LLDPE-Natural rubber blend. The simulation works using FEM software of Quickfield was applied to the tracking test condition of IEC 60587 standard.  The results show that the electric field distributions are critical on the edges of contaminant solution path at higher voltage level. The current density and electric field distribution is increase with higher applied voltage. The polymer nanocomposite with 1-5 % of nanofiller exhibits a good resistance to tracking and erosion test.

Abstract

This paper is under in-depth investigation due to suspicion of possible plagiarism on a high similarity indexIn this paper, we propose a robust visual tracking with an improved subspace representation model. Different from traditional subspace representation model, we use sparse representation, but not the collaborative representation to reconstruct the observation samples, which can avoid the redundant object features in subspace effectively. Moreover, to reject the outliers in the process of tracking, we also propose the combination of sparse box templates and Laplacian residual. To solve the minimization problem of object representation efficiently, a fast numerical algorithm that accelerated proximal gradient (APG) approach is proposed for the Lagrangian function. Finally, experimental results on several challenging video sequences show better performance than LSST and many state-of-the-art trackers.

Abstract

This paper describes about the Shunt Active Power Filter (SAPF) for the elimination of the current harmonics in the line side. The Active Power Filter is based on the Voltage Source Inverter (VSI) topology. The Synchronous Reference Frame (SRF) theory based control strategy is utilized for SAPF. The SAPF has the better performance for compensation of harmonics. The simulation of shunt active power filter is performed in MATLAB/Simulink. The SAPF is implemented in hardware protptype with ATMEGA 8 Microcontroller. The Simulation and Hardware result shows that the current harmonics are eliminated in the system.

Abstract

The movement of the aircraft pitch is very important to ensure the passengers and crews are in intrinsically safe and the aircraft achieves its maximum stability. The objective of this study is to provide a solution to the control system that features particularly on the pitch angle motion of aircraft systemin order to have a comfort boarding. Three controllers were developed in these projects which wereproportional integral derivative (PID), fuzzy logic controller (FLC), and linear quadratic regulator (LQR) controllers. These controllers will help improving the pitch angle and achievingthe target reference. By improving the pitch motion angle, the flight will be stabilized and in steady cruise (no jerking effect), hence provides all the passengers withthe comfort zone. Simulation results have been done and analyzed using Matlab software. The simulation results demonstrated LQR and FLC were better than PID in the pitch motion system due to the small error performance. In addition, withstrong external disturbances, a single controller is unable to control the system, thus, the combination of PID and LQR managed to stabilize the aircraft.

Abstract

Digital image is considered as a powerful tool to carry and transmit information between people. Thus, it attracts the attention of large number of researchers, among them those interested in preserving the image features from any factors that may reduce the image quality. One of these factors is the noise which affects the visual aspect of the image and makes others image processing more difficult. Thus far, solving this noise problem remains a challenge for the researchers in this field. A lot of image denoising techniques have been introduced in order to remove the noise by taking care of the image features; in other words, getting the best similarity to the original image from the noisy one. However, the findings are still inconclusive. Beside the enormous amount of researches and studies which adopt several mathematical concepts (statistics, probabilities, modeling, PDEs, wavelet, fuzzy logic, etc.), there is also the scarcity of review papers which carry an important role in the development and progress of research. Thus, this review paper intorduce an overview of the different fundamental approaches that yield the several image-denoising techniques, presented with a new classification. Furthermore, the paper presents the different evaluation tools needed on the comparison between these techniques in order to facilitate the processing of this noise problem, among a great diversity of techniques and concepts.
