Abstract

SMS via GPRS technology can be used to access data from information systems. This technology is one of regular and premium SMS extensions. The SMS over GPRS is composed by three components: the mobile application, server, router and gateway of information systems. The research objective was to build a mobile application to access information systems with the assumption that the server and the gateway router of information systems already exist. System was built using the http protocol, which has a request-response mechanism. There are two methods in the delivery of the message (request) and the receipt of the message (response) from the server, the message filtering and message parsing. Filtering is used to filter the message text /string that not known to be a string known by http, and then in message parsing process, message parses in the form of XML.

Abstract

Abstract

Data security becomes one of the things that need to be considered. The Sum of Product (SOP) Encryption is one of simple algorithm. The SOP encryption is not a public-key system to encrypt data. it is almost unbreakable through brute force method and vulnerable to attack because the encryption models have a fixed pattern. However, this drawback can be avoided through the compression process to remove the pattern file. SOP encryption algorithm can use a Boolean algebra combination functions such as AND gate and OR gate. Simple algorithm in hardware language VHSIC Hardware Description Language (VHDL) is on data bits level. The purpose of this research is implementation of image encryption algorithm to produce a quick image encryption system. From result test, the image processing time without encryption average 4.999ns/px and 13.51ns/px with encryption.

Abstract

Due to limited availability of coal and gases, optimization plays an important factor in thermal generation problems. The economic dispatch problems are dynamic in nature as demand varies with time. These problems are complex since they are large dimensional, involving hundreds of variables, and have a number of constraints such as spinning reserve and group constraints. Particle Swarm Optimization (PSO) method is used to solve these challenging optimization problems. Three test cases are studied where PSO technique is successfully applied.

Abstract

The brushless doubly-fed machine (BDFM) continues to attract increasing interest for applications in wind generation where, robustness and low servicing costs are its principles advantages. The construction aspect of the BDFM has been widely studied and currently this machine can be build with good performances. However, the control aspect remains difficult to achieve and some studies show that the BDFM is less stable than the doubly-fed induction machine. To explore the BDFM stability in all operating mode, this paper proposes a stability analysis of a grid-connected variable speed wind turbine-based BDFM. For this purpose, a linearized small signals mathematical model is proposed which takes into account both grid and control disturbances. Then, the effect of electrical parameters variation and operating speed change on the stability of the BDFM has been studied. The stability has been investigated through simulation implementation. The obtained results demonstrate the validity and the superiority of the proposed model.

Abstract

Latent Dirichlet Allocation (LDA) is a widely implemented approach for extracting hidden topics in documents generated by soft clustering of a word based on document co-occurrence as a multinomial probability distribution over terms. Therefore, several visualizations have been developed, such as matrices design, text-based design, tree design, parallel coordinates, and force-directed graphs. Furthermore, based on a set of documents representing a class (category), we can implement classification task by comparing topic proportion for each class and topic proportion for the testing document by using Kullback-Leibler Divergence (KLD). Therefore, the purpose of this study is to develop a system for visualizing the output of LDA as a classification task. The visualization system consists of two parts: bar chart and dependent word cloud. The first visualization aims to show the trend of each category, while the second visualization aims to show the words that represent each selected category in a word cloud. This visualization is subsequently called WCloudViz. It provides clear, understandable and preferably shared the result.

Abstract

In satellite technology, the communication between space segment and ground segment plays a vital role in the success of the mission. This paper is targeted at study, design and fabrication of a microwave active filter for the receiver front-ends using coupled line filter structure, which can be applied to the nanosatellite’s communication subsystem. The whole active filter module is a combination of a microstrip bandpass filter and a preceding two-stage wideband low noise amplifier using FET devices. The proposed module operates in the frequency range of 2-2.4 GHz, which can be divided to 10 frequency slots of about 40 MHz for each. These frequency slots will be used for the S-band multi-frequency receiving function of the ground station, as well as the nanosatellite. The simulated and measured results of this active filter configuration are presented.

Abstract

In order to clarify the main purpose of the study, we put a green phosphor layer SrBaSiO4:Eu2+ on the yellow phosphorus layer YAG:Ce3+ through using only one WLEDs structure in different color temperatures like 5600 K, 6600 K, 7700K. Then, we find the suitable SrBaSiO4:Eu2+ concentration in order that the luminous flux could get the highest value. The results show that SrBaSiO4:Eu2+ brings great benefits to increase not only optical gain but also color uniformity. Specifically, the greater the SrBaSiO4:Eu2+ concentration, the greater the output of WLEDs because of the development of green light component in WLEDs. However, only if the SrBaSiO4:Eu2+ concentration exceeds the level, a slight decrease in color rendering index (CRI) can occur, which based on Monte Carlo simulation. In addition, the results of this paper have contributed significantly to the creation of higher-powered WLEDs.

Abstract

This paper introduces the design and implementation of a wireless communication system with MATLAB based on orthognal frequency division multiplexing technique (OFDM). The constructed system is consisting of transmitter, fading channel and receiver. At the transmitter, the transmitted signal first modulated with PSK modulation, and then multiplexed with OFDM technique to achieve a higher bit rates transmission. The signal was then transmitted through a frequency selective channel with 6 taps. In the receiver parity. The received faded signal processed to be de-multiplexed and de-modulated. Then, a frequency domain equalizer was adopted to remove the fading noise and the inter-symbol interference from the received signal that introduced due to the fading channel. In order to inspect the performance of the frequency equilizer, bit error rate for the overall system was calculated at the receiving point and to recover the original information signal. The simulation results of the designed system as well as the frequency equilizer showed a robustness against the frequency selective faded channel effects. The maximum obtained bit error rate was around 10-5, which means that original signal was effectively recovered.

Abstract

Dish-Stirling unit and photovoltaic panels are the premier technologies available to generate off-grid solar energy. The major issue for both systems is in terms of producing output power. Air-Brayton cycle was utilized asan engine by converting the thermal energy to electricity. Micro gas turbine (MGT) has been recognized as one of the viable alternatives compared to Stirling engines, where it represents a state-of-art parabolic dish engine specifically in turbine gas technology. Hence, the microgas turbine is a technology that is capable of controlling low carbon while providing electricity in off-grid regions. MGT uses any gas as its input like natural gas, bio gas and others. Micro gas turbine has advantages for its high expansion ratio and less moving components. Compared to competing for diesel generators, the electricity costs from hybrid solar units were reduced between 10% and 43%, where  as specific CO2 emissions reduced by 20-35%. MGT provides advantages over photovoltaic systems such as the inherent ability to hybridize the systems with hydrocarbon fuels to produce electricity around the clock, and the ability to operate more effectively in very hot climates with photovoltaic performance degradation over the life time of the  system. Hybrid solar micro gas-turbines are cost-effective, eco-friendly and pollution free as they can work by burning any gas like natural gas, landfill gasa and others. This paper presented the controls contained in the MGT-dish system consisted of temperature control, fuel flow control, speed and acceleration control. Aconceptual design of the 25kW MGT-dish system was also covered.
