Abstract

In the field of health and medicine, there is a very important term known as clinical trials. Clinical trials are a type of activity that studies how the safest way to treat patients is. These clinical trials are usually written in unstructured free text which requires translation from a computer. The aim of this paper is to classify the texts of cancer clinical trial documents consisting of unstructured free texts taken from cancer clinical trial protocols. The proposed algorithm is conditional random Fields and bigram features. A new classification model from the cancer clinical trial document text is proposed to compete with other methods in terms of precision, recall, and f-1 score. The results of this study are better than the previous results, namely 88.07 precision, 88.05 recall and f-1 score 88.06.

Abstract

This paper addresses the stabilization problem for unmanned air vehicles over digital and wireless communication channels with time delay. In particular, the case with band-limited channels is considered. An observer-based state feedback control policy is employed to stabilize the linear control system of unmanned air vehicles. A sufficient condition on the minimum data rate for mean square stabilization is derived, and a new quantization, coding, and control policy is presented. Simulation results show the validity of the proposed scheme.

Abstract

The space vector pulse width modulation (SV-PWM) is more suitable and can increase the obtainable DC voltage utilization ratio very much compared to others PWM. Moreover, the modulation can obtain a better voltage total harmonic distortion (THD) factor. But until now, no studies that concern at hardware resources saving to realize SV-PWM based on FPGA. This paper proposes a new technique to realize SV-PWM based on FPGA. In order to get hardware resource saving, a simple technique to judge sectors, to calculate the firing pulses and to generate SV-PWM waveform without calculation of trigonometric function using bus-clamping technique is proposed. The technique has been implemented successfully based on APEX20KE FPGA to drive three phase induction machine 1.5 kW with low ripples in current and voltage, and has been shown that the proposed SVM method required the most minimum hardware resources compared to others research.

Abstract

As are considered, the body posture is controlled and position cannot control, space manipulator system model is difficult to be set up because of disturbance and model uncertainty. An adaptive control strategy based on neural network is put forward. Neural network on-line modeling technology is used to approximate the system uncertain model, and the strategy avoids solving the inverse Jacobi matrix, neural network approximation error and external bounded disturbance are eliminated by variable structure control controller. Inverse dynamic model of the control strategy does not need to be estimated, also do not need to take the training process, globally asymptotically stable of the closed-loop system is proved based on the lyapunov theory. The simulation results show that the designed controller can achieve high control precision has the important value of engineering application.

Abstract

Based on the nonlinearity and time-variation of automatic parking path tracking control system, we use fuzzy control theories and methods to explore the control rules to improve fuzzy controllers and design an automobile steering controller. Then we build the simulation experiment platform of an automobile in Simulink to simulate the reversing settings of parallel parking. This paper adopts the Mamdani control rules; the membership function is the Gauss function. This paper verifies the fuzzy controller's kinematic model and the advantages of fuzzy control rules. Simulation results show that the design of the controller allows the automobile to stop into the parking space smaller than the space obtained by planning path, and automatic parking becomes possible in the parking plot. The control system is characterized by small tracking error, fast response and high reliability.

Abstract

With the shortage of wireless communication bandwidth resource, the radio interferences occur so frequently. Currently, effcient frequency allocation algorithm designing and Intermoduation Distortion (IMD) suppression are two means to rationally improve the bandwidth resource. Therefore, four comprehensive approaches named stimulus isolation, channel crosstalk isolation; spectrum slight offset and Auto Level Control (ALC) leak control are proposed respectively to avoid the restriction of the periphery system’s noise and dynamic range of measurement instruments. Moreover, the high power and low noise detection approach, the auxiliary components amelioration and the measurement system improvement are analyzed. Finally, utilizing Silicon-On-Insulator (SOI) Radio Frequency (RF) switch as the carrier to do the experiment based on Advantest 93K tester. Experiment results show that the comprehensive optimized approaches can keep the whole system to less than -150 dBm (nearly 170 dBc) low noise range under the large signal cases. The actual intermodulation distortion signal could be rejected and sampled in precise accuracy which is nearly 20% improved. What’s more, the approaches are also beneficial to the expansion of the industrial multi-site test.

Abstract

This paper proposed a new design of Minkowski Island microstrip antenna fed by proximity coupling with partial ground plane. The design was consisted of two layers of substrate, on the top substrate was the antenna patch and on the bottom substrate was the proximity feed line and the partial ground. At the first stage, the normal square patch antenna was mainly designed. Then, the Minkowski patch antenna was designed using 1st iteration technique and 2nd iteration technique. The Minkowski fractal shape slot was embedded in the center of the patch to form a Minkowski Island patch antenna. Using the Minkowski Island fractal technique, the dimension of the patch can be reduced up to 58.7%. The proximity feed line in this design was used to increase the impedance bandwidth, and from the measurement the impedance bandwidth of the proposed antenna was 240 MHz with return loss of -24.54 dB and VSWR of 1.126.

Abstract

The demand for electrical energy is increasing in most areas in the world. Unstable fossil fuel price and its rapid depletion have led to an intensive research on new energy source and energy conversion. This paper presents the performance of the energy harvesting which focuses on the experimental work to emulate energy harvesting from the rainwater by utilizing a Pico - hydro approach installed to a high building. NACuM core DB-370F DC generators, 1000 litres water tank, 0.5 inch diameter piping system used in two different configurations with three different head setups. The result shows a huge energy harvesting potential obtained from the system and rainwater with maximum 261 milliwatts despite the hardware’s limitation in the setup. Hance, contributes to the cost-efficient due to its small in size, environmentally friendly, and hassle-free maintenance.

Abstract

Power consumption is considered one of the most significant challenges in the wireless network sensors (WSNs). In this paper, an investigation of the power consumption is done by making a comparison between static and dynamic WSNs. We have compared the results of the static network with the results of the dynamic network. Static and dynamic wireless Sensor networks have the same architecture (Homogenous) and proposed protocol. Depending on the suggested protocol, the simulation results show that the energy consumption in the static wireless sensor network was less than the dynamic wireless sensor network. However, moving the sensors in the dynamic WSN present real improvement in delivering packets to the base station. In the proposed routing protocol, transmitting data process is done in a hierarchal way. Cheap sensors are introduced and deploy them intensively to improve the QoS in the network. The final results and the conclusion are reported.

Abstract

High voltage direct current (HVDC) transmission provides an attractive alternative for bulk power transfer. However, HVDC transmission may have loss about half per unit length of high voltage alternating current (HVAC) at the same amount of power carried. This is due to the space charge formation around the conductor in HVDC cables. It is known that the presence of space charge inside an insulator may distort the local electric field and surface energy. This paper investigates the effect of electrostatics for space charge, electric field and surface energy in the HVDC cable in clean and contaminated conditions. The effect of uniform layer contamination from oil, sandstone and fresh water was conducted on 11 kV XLPE cable using finite element software under electrostatics study. The contamination layer was created around the XLPE cable by multifarious the radius of layer contamination from the conductor. The simulation results show that enlargement of contamination layer radius by 1.0 mm (light), 1.5 mm (medium) and 2.0 mm (heavy) resulted in the reduction of surface energy by 20% and electric field by 22% but increase the space charge amplitude by 76%. The study also found that fresh water can be considered as the worst contamination compared to oil and sandstone.
