Abstract

The use of biometrics as an automatic recognition system is growing rapidly in solving security problems; palmprint is one of biometric system which often used. This paper used two steps in center of mass moment method for region of interest (ROI) segmentation and apply the time series method combined with block window method as feature representation. Normalized Euclidean Distance is used to measure the similarity degrees of two feature vectors of palm print. System testing is done using 500 samples palms, with 4 samples as the reference image and the 6 samples as test images. Experiment results show this system can achieve a high performance with success rate about 97.33% (FNMR=1.67%, FMR=1.00 %, T=0.036).

Abstract

Clustering refers to the method grouping the large data into the smaller groups based on the similarity measure. Clustering techniques have been applied on numerical, categorical and mix data. One of the categorical data clustering technique based on the soft set theory is Maximum Attribute Relation (MAR). The MAR technique allows calculating all of pair multi soft set made. However, the computational complexity is still an issue of the technique. To overcome the drawback, the paper proposes the alternative algorithm to decrease the complexity so get the faster response time. In this paper, to get the similar results as MAR without calculating all pair of soft set is proved. The alternative algorithm is implemented in MATLAB Software, and then experimental is run on the 10 benchmark datasets. The results show that the alternative algorithm improves the computational complexity in term of response time up to 36.46%

Abstract

This paper is under in-depth investigation due to suspicion of possible plagiarism on a high similarity indexThis paper presents design and implementation 2-way Wilkinson power divider at 9400 MHz frequency which matched to 50Ω transmission line. This design applies Microstrip line with Roger Duroid 5880 Substrate and uses software simulation (ADS 2011) to help the design. This Wilkinson power divider designed at 9400MHz for use on Antenna X-Band Radar System. The desire objective is a power divider can be used in compact circuit board with low insertion loss and good matching for all ports. The dimension of the devices after fabrication is 30mm x 35mm. The voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR) for all port for both dividers is less than 1.33,  Forward transmission the devices as divider or the split power ratio (S21 and S31)is about -2.522dB, reverse transmission the devices as combiner (S12 and S13) is about -2.861dB. The isolation between the both output ports shows a good isolation, less than -11.271dB. The overall result of simulation and fabrication show a fairly good result.

Abstract

This paper explains the simulation and modelling of Parallel operation of VSI inverter using multi-carrier based PWM technique. By this proposed method three level inverter output voltages generated instead of using multilevel inverter or two level dual VSI inverter. This system employs single dc voltage source, which gives supply to both VSI inverter by using parallel connection. The multi-carrier based pulse width modulation technique affianced to control the inverter power switches. The proposed system offers improved output voltage, better current control and reduced harmonic distortion. The simulation results of this proposed system was verified using matlab/simulink.

Abstract

The growth of image databases in many domains, including fashion, biometric, graphic design, architecture, etc. has increased rapidly. Content Based Image Retrieval System (CBIR) is a technique used for finding relevant images from those huge and unannotated image databases based on low-level features of the query images. In this study, an attempt to employ 2nd level Wavelet Based Color Histogram (WBCH) on a CBIR system is proposed. Image database used in this study are taken from Wang’s image database containing 1000 color images. The experiment results show that 2nd level WBCH gives better precision (0.777) than the other methods, including 1st level WBCH, Color Histogram, Color Co-occurrence Matrix, and Wavelet texture feature. It can be concluded that the 2nd Level of WBCH can be applied to CBIR system.

Abstract

Various kinds of technology have been developed to assist obtain information. One of them is a Wireless Sensor Network (WSN). WSN is a wireless network consisting of multiple nodes connected wirelessly. WSN nodes on a device have small resources in the form of batteries. The main problem which owned by WSN was in the data collection process possible collisions data, there are nodes that transmit data at the same time. Time Division Multiple Access (TDMA) was able to provide data on the delivery schedule of each node. So no nodes that transmit data at the same time. But in order to apply the system each node should have equal time. One method that able to provide equalization time was Reference Broadcast Synchronization (RBS). This method synchronizes multiple nodes that have different local time (on the receiver) with the help of node that provides synchronization marks (beacons). Hence this each node was able to transmit data in accordance with the TDMA method that has been implemented. In addition time synchronization performed using RBS give equal time with accuracy up to microseconds. That case certainly makes the WSN node able to provide accurate information to guarantee the absence of errors due to data collisions. This research succesfully sending data delivery schedule by time slots that provided by RBS and time synchronization by TDMA average time delay 2285.9 microseconds.

Abstract

Image classification has different applications. Up to now, various algorithms have been presented for image classification. Each of these method has its own weaknesses and strengths. Reducing error rate is an issue which much researches have been carried out about it. This research intends to optimize the problem with hybrid methods and deep learning. The hybrid methods were developed to improve the results of the single-component methods. On the other hand, a deep belief network (DBN) is a generative probabilistic modelwith multiple layers of latent variables and is used to solve the unlabeled problems. In fact, this method is anunsupervised method, in which all layers are one-way directed layers except for the last layer. So far, various methods have been proposed for image classification, and the goal of this research project was to use a combination of the AdaBoost method and the deep belief network method to classify images. The other objective was to obtain better results than the previous results. In this project, a combination of the deep belief network and AdaBoost method was used to boost learning and the network potential was enhanced by making the entire network recursive. This method was tested on the MINIST dataset and the results were indicative of a decrease in the error rate with the proposed method as compared to the AdaBoost and deep belief network methods.

Abstract

Knowledge management (KM) is gaining significance as a worthy research subject due to its contribution to the success of wide range of organizations, including higher education institutions. Knowledge internalization is mainly related to capability to see the relevance of one’s knowledge in a real situation. e-learning management system (eLMS) provides an online teaching and learning platform for students (as novice users) and lecturers (as experts in their specific domains) with the potential to improve students' knowledge acquisition. Thus, this empirical study was conducted to investigate the impact of knowledge internalization in eLMS among students in Iraq. To achieve these aims, survey research design was adopted and the sample comprised of 109 undergraduate students attending College of Information Technology in Iraq, all of whom were actively engaged in eLMS activities. The findings show that knowledge can be effectively transferred from lecturers to students via eLMS. Additionally, eLMS enable students to improve their prior knowledge through the internalization process, while also motivating them to share their knowledge with other students.

Abstract

There are many methods for identifying the stability of complex dynamic systems. Routh and Hurwitz’s criterion is one of the earliest and commonly used analytical tools analysing the stability of dynamic systems. However, it requires tedious and lengthy derivations of all components of the Routh array to solve the stability problem. Therefore, it is not a simple method to define analytically, stability boundaries for the coefficients of the system characteristic equation. The proposed brand-new criterion is an effective alternaztive technique in identifying stabilityhigher-order linear time-invariant dynamic system that binds the coefficients of the system characteristic polynomial at the stability boundaries by means of an additional single constantk. It defines the necessary and sufficient conditions for the absolute stability of higher-order dynamic systems. It also allows the analysing of the system’s precise marginal stabilityor marginal instability condition when the roots are relocated on imaginary jω-axis of s-plane. The criterion proposed bythe authors, in contrast to Routh criteria, simplifies the identification of maximum and minimum stability limits for any coefficient of the higher-order characteristic equation significantly. The derived in the paperstability boundary formulas for the polynomial coefficients are successfully used for the proportional integral derivative (PID) controller with single or multiple gains selections in closed-loop control system.
