Abstract

One of the areas that have challenges in the use of internet of things (IoT) is the field of tourism and travel. The issue here is how to employ this technology to serve the tourism and managing the produced data. This work is focus on the use of tourists' trajectories that are collected from global positioning system (GPS) mobile sensors as a source of information. The aim of work is to predict preferred tourism places for tourists by tracking tourists' behavior to extract the tourism places that have been visited by such tourists. Density based clustering algorithm is mainly used to extract stay points and point of interest (POI). By projecting GPS location (for user and places) on the Google map, the type and name of places favored by the tourists are determined. K nearest neighbor (KNN) algorithm with haversine distance has been adopted to find the nearest places for tourists. The evaluation of the obtained results shows superior and satisfactory performance that can reach the objective behind this work.

Abstract

This paper presents a comparative analysis of different forms of electrochemical energy storage technologies for use in the smart grid. This paper addresses various energy storage techniques that are used in the renewable energy sources connected to the smart grid. Energy storage technologies will most likely improve the penetrations of renewable energy on the electricity network. Consequently, energy storage systems could be the key to finally replacing the need for fossil fuel with renewable energy. It is hard to evaluate the different types of energy storage techniques between themselves due to the fact that each technology could be used in a different way and are more like compliments. Subsequently, for the purposes of this paper, it is seen that the use of energy storage technologies will increase the supply, and balances out the demand for energy.

Abstract

Earprint has interestingly been considered for recognition systems. It refers to the shape of ear, where each person has a unique shape of earprint. It is a strong biometric pattern and it can effectively be used for authentications. In this paper, an efficient deep learning (DL) model for earprint recognition is designed. This model is named the deep earprint learning (DEL). It is a deep network that carefully designed for segmented and normalized ear patterns. IIT Delhi ear database (IITDED) version 1.0 has been exploited in this study. The best obtaining accuracy of 94% is recorded for the proposed DEL.

Abstract

Recognizing the traffic signs installed on the streets is one of the requirements of driving on the road. Laxity in driving may result in traffic accident. This paper describes a real-time reminder model, by utilizing a camera that can be installed in a car to capture image of traffic signs, and is processed and later to inform the driver. The extracting feature harnessing the morphological elements (strel) is used in this paper. Artificial Neural Networks is used to train the system and to produce a final decision. The result shows that the accuracy in detecting and recognizing the ten types of traffic signs in real-time is 80%.

Abstract

2D image is a form of image which has coordinates x and y, and override the factors of depth (coordinate z). In an image, there is a color information that consisting of components Red, Green, and Blue (RGB). Color information can be used as a medium for a computer program to interpret objects or values as well as the value of resistor color. By using the color information, a resistor value can be count based on bracelet color. To get good results, RGB color model need to be changed to HSI (hue, saturation, Intensity) color model first. Hue value represent the actual color, saturation level indicates the color saturation, and intensity is used to determine the number of light. By using the color selection based on HSI model and determined the value of threshold, it can be used to express the amount of resistor value in the form of a digital image.

Abstract

Abstract

In wireless communication systems, the main challenge is to provide a high data rate and reliable transmission over a frequency selective fading channel. Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a very attractive technique for high data rate transmission with better bandwidth efficiency. In this paper, the effectiveness of turbo codes is utilized to develop a new approach for an OFDM system based on a Discrete Multiwavelet Critical-Sampling Transform (OFDM-DMWCST). The use of turbo coding in an OFDM-DMWCST system is useful in providing the desired performance at higher data rates. Two types of turbo codes were used in this work, i.e., Parallel Concatenated Convolutional Codes (PCCCs) and Serial Concatenated Convolutional Codes (SCCCs). In both types, the decoding is performed by the iterative decoding algorithm based on the log-MAP (Maximum A Posteriori) algorithm. The simulationresults showed that, the turbo-coded OFDM-DMWCST system achieves large coding gain with lower Bit-Error-Rate (BER), therefore, offering a higher data rate under different channel conditions. In addition, thePCCCs offer better performance than SCCCs.

Abstract

In this study, human face detection have been widely conducted and it is still interesting to be research. In this research, strong impact of color space for face i.e., many and multi faces detection by using YIQ, YCbCr, HSV, HSL, CIELAB, and CIELUV are proposed. In this experiment, intensity normality method in one of the color space channel and tested the faces using Android based have been developed. The faces multi image datasets came from social media, mobile phone and digital camera. In this experiment, the color space YCbCr percentage value with the image initial value detection before processing are 67.15%, 75.00%, and 64.58% have been reached. Then, after the normalization process are 83.21%, 87.12%, and 80.21% have been increased. Furthermore, this study showed that color space of YCbCr have reached improvement percentage

Abstract

This paper analyzes the weight of impact factors on selection the antenna places for mobile telecommunication system in Jordan. The new technique plays a lead role in divided area and selects the place of antennas' sites. The main objective of this research is to minimize the antenna numbers in order to reduce the cost. Research follows flowcharting categories and stages as: The first stage aim to classify the effective factors on the: signal radius, better position of antenna from candidate points, reserved area, and non-preferring position. The second stage focuses on finding the effective weight of these factors on the decision. The third stage suggest the new proposed approach by implement the MCLP and P-center problems in linear function. The last stage has the pseudo code for the proposed approach, where the proposed approach provides the solution that helps the planners in telecommunication industry and in related government agencies make informed position of the antennas.
