This letter presents a new circuit of the band-pass filter designed by using microstrip technology. Based on complementary split ring resonator and various series of optimization technic and a specific design method, a miniature band-pass filter with excellent electrical performances is achieved. First of all, the metamaterial unit cell is studied to obtain a desired resonant frequency and it is implemented in the ground plan in order to increase the characteristics of the bandpass behavior and decrease its operating frequencies. This proposed circuit is designed on an FR-4 substrate having a relative permittivity of 4.4 tangential losses of 0.025 and thickness of 1.6 mm. This filter is developed by using CST Microwave. The obtained features allow this filter to be used in diverse wireless applications such as IMT-E and WiMax.

The paper deals with application of Kalman filter in induction motor drive using pulse-width modulation direct torque control (PWM-DTC). In the first part, the conventional PWM-DTC drive is described and Kalman filter is utilized to filter components of stator current vector those are assumed to be disturbed by white noise. The second part contains simulation results that are obtained in different cases of load torque, process and measurement noise covariances. The integral time absolute error (ITAE) performance index, undershoot, ripple of important quantities are used to compare the conventional drive structure and proposed drive structure with Kalman filter. The simulation results confirm the expected dynamic response of the proposed structure.

An improved classifier is presented by imposing a textural feature to solve the problems of vague initial clustering results, low classification accuracy and unchangeable class number in the iterative classifier, based on H/Alpha decomposition and the complex Wishart distribution for polarimetric SAR (Synthetic Aperture Radar) images. First, wavelet decomposition is used to extract texture from polarimetric SAR images. Second, an AP (Affinity Propagation) algorithm is applied to create the initial clustering result. This result is then applied to the iterative classifier based on the complex Wishart distribution to obtain the final result. Two PALSAR (Phased Array type L-band Synthetic Aperture Radar) images from ALOS (Advanced Land Observing Satellite) are used for the experiments carried out on experimental plots in Binhai Prefecture, Yancheng City, Jiangsu Province. The results show that the improved classifier has some merits, including clear initial clustering results, flexible class number and high classification accuracy. The improved classifier has better overall performance than the original, and can be effectively applied to the classification of polarimetric SAR images.

This paper reports a compact design of electromagnetically driven MEMS micro-actuator utilizing planar electromagnetic coil on PCB (Printed Circuit Board). The micro-actuator device consists of an NdFeB permanent magnet, thin silicon membrane and planar micro-coil which fabricated using simple standard MEMS techniques with additional bonding step. Two planar coils designs including planar parallel and spiral coil structure with various coil geometry are chosen for the study. Analysis of the device involves the investigation of electromagnetic and mechanical properties using finite element analysis (FEA), the measurement of the membrane deflection and functionality test. The measurement results show that the thin silicon membrane is able to deform as much as 12.87 µm using planar spiral micro-coil. Reasonable match between simulation and measurement of about 82.5% has been revealed. The dynamic response test on actuator driven by parallel planar coil shows that silicon membrane effectively deformed in 40 s for an input electrical power of only 150 mW. It is also concluded that planar parallel coil is considered for the simple structure and easy fabrication of the actuator system. This study will provide important parameters for the development of compact and simple electromagnetic micro-actuator system for fluidic injection system in lab-on-chip.

Agent based model (ABM) is a computational model for simulation, behavioral representation and interaction of autonomous agents. The main problem definition related to how to make a dynamic model of dengue fever with consideration of their behavioral and interaction agent. This paper aims to develop interactive behavioral agents and related simulation models for such dynamic spreading dengue fever epidemic. This model construction consists of two agents, namely a human agent as a host and mosquito as a vector, where temperature and humidity are the environmental parameters. These environmental parameters deployed data and information from National Meteorology Climatology and Geophysics agency and supported by recent community health data of Bogor region. The verification stage evaluated model performance of two periods between January to June and between July to December 2015 showed the fitness of the model. During simulation stage where 100 humans agent and 10 mosquitoes agent were observed, indicating the decreasing of mosquito by 26.3% and the number of infected human decrease to 16% from the period of January until June to July until December 2015 respectively. These evaluation results showed that the agent based model results succeeded to follow a similar trend of decreasing pattern as actual data.

The current rapid growth in IoT technology facilitates the effortless implementation of bidirectional remote monitoring and control system implementation in homes and buildings. We have modeled an actual non-intrusive PnP sequential SVC prototype hardware and wireless FLC automation software design on a real single phase home appliances system as load modeling. In addition, we have also designed a novel Unidirectional MOSFET Switched Capasitor model (UniMosSC) which enables us to reduce the hardware cost and increase the life span of SVC due it uses minimum switching devices. The system we have designed is able to correct the power factor at the root of the problem at each appliance. Due to complexity of appliance clustering and overlapping clusters, we implemented fuzziness in the system for more reliability in computations. The system could be used in homes or buildings resulting in electricity bill reduction, saving dollars and cents.

Plants, flowers and crops are living things around us that makes our earth more productive and beautiful. In order to growth healthy, they need water, light and nutrition from the soil in order to effect cleaning air naturally and produce oxygen to the world. Therefore, a technology that manage to brilliantly control plants watering rate according to its soil moisture and user requirement is proposed in this paper. The developed system included an Internet of Things (IoT) in Wireless Sensor Network (WSN) environment where it manages and monitors the irrigation system either manually or automatically, depending on the user requirement. This proposed system applied Arduino technology and NRF24L01 as the microprocessor and transceiver for the communication channel, respectively. Smart agriculture and smart lifestyle can be developed by implementing this technology for the future work. It will save the budget for hiring employees and prevent from water wastage in daily necessities.

This paper proposes an improved electricity efficiency method using an infrared sensor and internet of things (IoT). Almost all field of human work require electrical energy, especially for household needs. The averages household has many lamps in each room, so if it is not controlled, it will be wasteful of energy. However, this work is carried out to gain a better understanding of a new method for saving energy. The main advantage of this work is the simplification of the sensor used, in which only the infrared sensor required. Although the proposed approach faces numerous challenges, it successfully provides result as parameters that it can be processed rapidly using low-cost microcontrollers. The idea is based on the microcontroller and internet implementation with infrared sensor to monitor the number of people in home to control the lamp light intensity. The idea is proven in two ways: design and experiment. In this paper, the implementation of Raspberry Pi and Arduino is created to monitor the number of people in room and control the lamp intensity through internet or web. Arduino uses for the sensor processing and Raspberry Pi as server. The web is used to display the monitoring result by retrieving data from database that created using MySQL. The result indicates that the electricity bill decreased between 7.7-8.2% over 2 months implementation. The conclusion of this study suggests that the research in this area could be directed toward to be used in saving electricity usage in human life, especially for household.

Optimal selection of features is very difficult and crucial to achieve, particularly for the task of classification. It is due to the traditional method of selecting features that function independently and generated the collection of irrelevant features, which therefore affects the quality of the accuracy of the classification. The goal of this paper is to leverage the potential of bio-inspired search algorithms, together with wrapper, in optimizing multi-objective algorithms, namely ENORA and NSGA-II to generate an optimal set of features. The main steps are to idealize the combination of ENORA and NSGA-II with suitable bio-search algorithms where multiple subset generation has been implemented. The next step is to validate the optimum feature set by conducting a subset evaluation. Eight (8) comparison datasets of various sizes have been deliberately selected to be checked. Results shown that the ideal combination of multi-objective algorithms, namely ENORA and NSGA-II, with the selected bio-inspired search algorithm is promising to achieve a better optimal solution (i.e. a best features with higher classification accuracy) for the selected datasets. This discovery implies that the ability of bio-inspired wrapper/filtered system algorithms will boost the efficiency of ENORA and NSGA-II for the task of selecting and classifying features.
