Abstract

During the last few years, the allocation of objects or persons inside a specific building is highly required. It is well known that the global positioning system (GPS) cannot be adopted in indoor environment due to the lack of signals. Therefore, it is important to discover a new way that works inside. The proposed system uses the deep learning techniques to classify places based on capturing images. The proposed system contains two parts: software part and hardware part. The software part is built based on software engineering model to increase the reliability, flexibility, and scalability. In addition, this part, the dataset is collected using the Raspberry Pi III camera as training and validating data set. This dataset is used as an input to the proposed deep learning model. In the hardware part, Raspberry Pi III is used for loading the proposed model and producing prediction results and a camera that is used to collect the images dataset. Two wheels’ car is adopted as an object for introducing indoor localization project. The obtained training accuracy is 99.6% for training dataset and 100% for validating dataset.

Abstract

Our society is getting more and more technology dependent day by day. Nevertheless, agriculture is imperative for our survival. Rice is one of the primary food grains. It provides sustenance to almost fifty percent of the world population and promotes huge amount of employments. Hence, proper mitigation of rice plant diseases is of paramount importance. A model to detect three rice leaf diseases, namely bacterial leaf blight, brown spot, and leaf smut is proposed in this paper. Backgrounds of the images are removed by saturation threshold while disease affected areas are segmented using hue threshold. Distinctive features from color, shape, and texture domain are extracted from affected areas. These features can robustly describe local and global statistics of such images. Trying a couple of classification algorithms, extreme gradient boosting decision tree ensemble is incorporated in this model for its superior performance. Our model achieves 86.58% accuracy on rice leaf diseases dataset from UCI, which is higher than previous works on the same dataset. Class-wise accuracy of the model is also consistent among the classes.

Abstract

In iterative data-detection and channel-estimation algorithms, the channel estimator and the data detector recursively exchange the information order to improve the system performance. In this paper, maximum a posteriori based iterative data detection and pilot symbol assisted channel estimation of the single parity check product code for multiple antenna wireless communication is studied. Results show the algorithm can converge at a few iteration numbers and improve error probability performance of the system.

Abstract

Polymer is a non conductive materialthat can be conductive with carbon black filler to form polymer-carbon composite. polymer-carbon composite’s resistance changes with gas. The conductivity of polymer-carbon composite is influenced by several factors,i.e. type of gas, volume of gas, temperature and humidity.. This research characterizes the polymer-carbon composite sensor from 6 types of polymers: PEG6000, PEG20M, PEG200, PEG1540, Silicon and Squelene. The sensors are treated with Aceton, Aceton Nitril, Benzene, Etanol, Methanol, Ethyl Aceton, Chloroform, n-Hexan and Toluene. This characterization are grouped into 4 cluster according to their selectivity, sensitivity, influence of temperature and humidity. sensors are put in an isolated chamber which is connected to data acquisition with the  variations of temperature, humidity, type and volume of gas. Correspondence analysis and regression are used to process the data. Test results found that each sensor showed different sensitivity and selectivity towards particular type of gas. Resistance of sensors increases with rising temperature and humidity environment with  order 2 and order 3 polynomial equation

Abstract

Presentation of information in digital form is highly vulnerable againts information abusing. Digital image is one of digital information which is frequently becomes a target of crime. Therefore, reliable, secure, and fast security technique are required in digital image information. In this study, chaos-based encryption algorithm for digital image is built to improve endurance from brute force and known plaintext attack. The algorithm using logistic map as a random number generator for key stream. According to test and analysis, this algorithm has key space of , key sensitivity up to , the key stream is proved random, and the distribution of pixels value from encrypted image is proved uniform. So, it can be concluded that, the algorithm is very difficult to be cracked by brute force attack and also known plaintext attack.

Abstract

A trend issue in modeling head-related impulse responses (HRIRs) is how to individualize HRIRs models that are convenient for a particular listener. The objective of this research is to show a robust selection method of eight anthropometric parameters out of all 27 parameters defined in CIPIC HRTF Database. The proposed selection method is systematically and scientifically acceptable, compared to ‘trial and error’ method in selecting the parameters. The selected anthropometric parameters of a given listener were applied in establishing multiple linear regression models in order to individualize his / her HRIRs. We modeled the entire minimum phase HRIRs in horizontal plane of 35 subjects using principal components analysis (PCA). The individual minimum phase HRIRs can be estimated adequately by a linear combination of ten orthonormal basis functions.

Abstract

A Nd:YAG nanosecond laser was utilized in the laser color marking of  titanium alloy substrates. It was focused on how several laser parameters, such as pumping current, delay between the effective vector step, laser line spacing, Q-switch frequency and focal plane offset, affected the resulting colors, and the influence of the resulting colors on the substrate. Firstly, single-factor experiments were carried out. Then the dark blue square pattern and two samples were analyzed using an environmental scanning electron microscope (ESEM) and X-ray diffractometer (XRD) respectively. Results clearly showed that the Nd:YAG nanosecond laser can induce multiple colors on titanium alloy substrates and all the five parameters had an effect on the resulting colors significantly. The dark blue square pattern didn’t induce internal stresses within the substrate material, so  the influence of the resulting colors on the substrate is negligible.

Abstract

Detection and classification of power quality (PQ) disturbances are an important consideration to electrical utility companies and many industrial customers so that diagnosis and mitigation of such disturbance can be implemented quickly. Power quality signal consists of stationary and non-stationary events which need a robust signal processing technique to analyse the signals. In this paper, Modified STransform (MST) was used to analyse single and multiple power quality signals. MST is a modified version of S-transform with improved time-frequency resolution. The power quality signals that are considered in this study are voltage swell, sag, interruption, harmonic, interharmonic, transient, sag plus harmonic and swell plus harmonics. The performance of the proposed method has been studied under noisy and unnoisy condition. Hard thresholding technique has been applied with MST while analysing noisy PQ signals. The result shows that MST is able to give higher classification rate with better time and frequency distribution (TFD) spectrum of the PQ disturbances.

Abstract

In this paper, an automatic estimation of additive white Gaussian noise technique is proposed. This technique is built according to the local statistics of Gaussian noise. In the field of digital signal processing, estimation of the noise is considered as pivotal process that many signal processing tasks relies on. The main aim of this paper is to design a patch-based estimation technique in order to estimate the noise level in natural images and use it in blind image removal technique. The estimation processes is utilized selected patches which is most contaminated sub-pixels in the tested images sing principal component analysis (PCA). The performance of the suggested noise level estimation technique is shown its superior to state of the art noise estimation and noise removal algorithms, the proposed algorithm produces the best performance in most cases compared with the investigated techniques in terms of PSNR, IQI and the visual perception.
