Abstract

In this paper a two layers microstrip antenna design at 2.45 GHz ISM band with Harmonic rejection filter embedded on the ground plane is presented. The two roger substrates with relative permittivity of 2.2 are separated by an air gap which enhances the antenna gain. The design is simulated using Computer Simulation Technology (CST) Studio Suite 2015. Different aperture couplings slots such as rectangular and triangular aperture coupling slots are studied and compared. It is found that the antenna with triangular aperture coupling slot enhances the antenna performance by suppressing 2nd and 3rd harmonics at 5 GHz and 8 GHz, respectively, increasing the antenna gain and providing a better circular polarization behavior. The simulated antenna design achieves a gain of 9 dB, return loss of -23.6dB, axial ratio of 1.27dB and axial-ratio bandwidth of 40.8% (2 ~ 3 GHz). The proposed antenna shows an enhancement in the antenna performance which makes it a suitable candidate for rectifying antenna or rectenna application as it can increase the total conversion efficiency resulting in a high output DC voltage used to power low power electronic and electrical devices such as wireless sensor.

Abstract

For real time application scenarios of image processing, satellite imaginary has grown more interest by researches due to the informative nature of image. Satellite images are captured using high quality cameras. These images are captured from space using on-board cameras. Wrong ISO setting, camera vibrations or wrong sensory setting causes noise. The degraded image can cause less efficient results during visual perception which is a challenging issue for researchers. Another reason is that noise corrupts the image during acquisition, transmission, interference or dust particles on the scanner screen of image from satellite to the earth stations. If quality degraded images are used for further processing then it may result in wrong information extraction. In order to cater this issue, image filtering or denoising approach is required. Since remote sensing images are captured from space using on-board camera which requires high speed operating device which can provide better reconstruction quality by utilizing lesser power consumption. Recently various approaches have been proposed for image filtering. Key challenges with these approaches are reconstruction quality, operating speed, image quality by preserving information at edges on image. Proposed approach is named as modified bilateral filter. In this approach bilateral filter and kernel schemes are combined. In order to overcome the drawbacks, modified bilateral filtering by using FPGA to perform the parallelism process for denoising is implemented.

Abstract

In this paper, a multi-stage fully differential low noise amplifier (LNA) has been presented for wideband applications. A common-gate input stage is used to improve the input impedance matching and linearity. A common-source stage is also used as the second stage to enhance gain and reduce noise. A shunt-shunt feedback is employed to extend bandwidth and enhance linearity. The proposed low noise amplifier has been designed and simulated using RF-TSMC 0.18 μm CMOS process technology. In frequency band of 3.5-7.5 GHz, this amplifier has a flat power gain (S21) of 16.5 ± 1.5 dB, low noise figure (NF) of 3dB, input (S11) and output (S22) return losses less than -10 dB and high linearity with input thirdorder intercept point (IIP3) of -3dBm. It’s power consumption is also less than 10 mw with low power supply voltage of 0.8v.

Abstract

In recent day, Electromyography (EMG) signal are widely applied in myoelectric control. Unfortunately, most of studies focused on the classification of EMG signals based on healthy subjects. Due to the lack of study in amputee subject, this paper aims to investigate the performance of healthy and amputee subjects for the classification of multiple hand movement types. In this work, Gabor transform (GT) is used to transform the EMG signal into time-frequency representation. Five time-frequency features are extracted from GT coefficient. Feature extraction is an effective way to reduce the dimensionality, as well as keeping the valuable information. Two popular classifiers namely k-nearest neighbor (KNN) and support vector machine (SVM) are employed for performance evaluation. The developed system is evaluated using the EMG data acquired from the publicy available NinaPro Database. The results revealed that the extracting GT features can achieve promising performance in the classification of EMG signals.

Abstract

The synthesis of NFC technology accompanying mobile payment is a state-of-the-art resolution for payment users. In view of rapid development in electronic payment system there is rise in fraudulent activity in banking transactions associated with credit cards and card-not-present transaction. M-Commerce aid the consumers and helps to bestow real-time information in payment system. Due to the familiarization of m-commerce there is cogent increase in the number of fraudulent activities, emerging in billions of dollar loss every year worldwide. To absolute the security breaches, payment transactions could be confined by considering various parameters like user and device authentication, consumer behavior pattern, geolocation and velocity. In this paper we formally assay NFC-enabled mobile payment fraud detection ecosystem using score-based evaluation method. The fraud detection ecosystem will provide a solution based on transaction risk-modeling, scoring transaction, business rule-based, and cross-field referencing. The score-based evaluation method will analyze the transaction and reckon every transaction for fraud risk and take pertinent decision.

Abstract

Many industries often use different devices and controllers in automation systems. They all face the same difficulty how to exchange data between all those components. This paper proposed the implementation of OPC Server as software interface on communication between two different controllers, PLC Mitsubishi and PLC Omron. The main advantage of the method is the compatibility and solution for the factory difficulty problem because of using several driver controller. The compatibility among the different platforms of both controller, PLC Mitsubishi and PLC Omron, can be reached by use of KEPServerEx6 (OPC server) as a software interface. To test the compatibility amongst two different controllers, there was developed and implemented two field application devices, bottle unscramble and bottle filling station. This implementation shows OPC Server technology resolving data compatibility issues between different platforms and reducing development costs. It is envisaged that the method can be very useful to realize integration.

Abstract

Lighting devices that apply diodes to create white light-emitting diodes (WLEDs) can achieve remarkable results in color quality, especially those containing quantum dots (QDs) and phosphor. The technique to create an appropriate package is providing spaces between the QDs and phosphor components which helps decrease the ratio of the reabsorption losses and keeps the QDs surface ligands constant. The research aims to perfect the constructing method of remote phosphor configuration containing quantum dots and phosphor materials that based on lighting properties and temperature feature of WLEDs. The infrared thermography is the tool to measure and analyze total emitted light and emission ranges of the device. This device is also used in temperature simulation and experimental verification. At the given mA of 60, the WLEDs structure with green QDs layer above the phosphor layer results in 996 lm luminous flux (LF), and Ra = 57 in color rendering ability. Meanwhile, luminous flux of WLEDs with red QDs-on-phosphor structure is 632, and Ra = 70. Furthermore, comparing with the green QDs-on-phosphor type, the red QDs-on-phosphor type emitted less LF. However, the red QDs-on-phosphor type can be the most effective package design to achieve color rendering ability.

Abstract

Many isolated small power systems are powered by diesel generators, which results in greater operating costs than interconnected large grids. It is therefore desirable to integrate renewable energy sources such as wind power into these small grids. However, due to the fluctuating power generation from renewable energy sources, frequency deviations of power systems become problematic. Distributed intelligent load control can be used to significantly increase renewable energy penetration and cut diesel fuel consumption. This paper presents a methodology for grid frequency control by electric water heaters as controllable loads. This system consists of diesel generator, wind farm, and loads. By applying a power consumption controller adopted from H∞control theory, grid frequency deviation is maintained around rated value. In order to verify the effectiveness of the proposed system, MATLAB/Simulink is used for simulations.

Abstract

Image is often subject to noise pollution during the process of collection, acquisition and transmission, noise is a major factor affecting the image quality, which has greatly impeded people from extracting information from the image. The purpose of image denoising is to restore the original image without noise from the noise image, and at the same time maintain the detailed information of the image as much as possible. This paper, by combining artificial bee colony algorithm and BP neural network, proposes the image denoising method based on artificial bee colony and BP neural network (ABC-BPNN), ABC-BPNN adopts the “double circulation” structure during the training process, after specifying the expected convergence speed and precision, it can adjust the rules according to the structure, automatically adjusts the number of neurons, while the weight of the neurons and relevant parameters are determined through bee colony optimization. The simulation result shows that the algorithm proposed in this paper can maintain the image edges and other important features while removing noise, so as to obtain better denoising effect.
