Abstract

Breast cancer is the most commonly diagnosed cancer among females worldwide. Computer aided diagnosis (CAD) was developed to assist radiologists in detecting and evaluating nodules so it can improve diagnostic accuracy, avoid unnecessary biopsies, reduce anxiety and control costs. This research proposes a method of CAD for breast ultrasound images based on margin and posterior acoustic features. It consists of preprocessing, segmentation using active contour without edge (ACWE) and morphological, feature extraction and classification. Texture and geometry analysis was used to determine the characteristics of the posterior acoustic and margin nodules. Support vector machines (SVM) provided better performance than multilayer perceptron (MLP). The performance of proposed method achieved the accuracy of 91.35%, sensitivity of 92.00%, specificity of 89.66%, PPV of 95.83%, NPV of 81.26% and Kappa of 0.7915. These results indicate that the developed CAD has potential to be implemented for diagnosis of breast cancer using ultrasound images.

Abstract

SVARA is the first Social Media audio application in Indonesia developed by PT. Zamrud Teknologi Khatulistiwa. At present, this application does not have feature settings to display content and other basic settings on the user's side. This situation results in users not having the role to manage the appearance of the dashboard according to their preferences. Settings are done entirely by administrators using scripts and must take APIs with regular PHP scripts. And this is very troublesome. So to give a role to the view of user management, the application needs to be made a dashboard setting feature as a follow-up. Through this paper, the researchers propose designing this dashboard feature using the User-Centered Design (UCD) method. The design results show that this method has a positive correlation with user involvement support in the application development process.

Abstract

Authentication is the act of confirming the validity of someone’s personal data. In the traditional authentication system, username and password are sent to the server for verification. However, this scheme is not secure, because the password can be sniffed. In addition, the server will keep the user’s password for the authentication. This makes the system vulnerable when the database server is hacked. Zero knowledge authentication allows server to authenticate user without knowing the user’s password. In this research, this scheme was implemented with Guillou-Quisquater protocol. Two login mechanisms were used: file-based certificate with key and local storage. Testing phase was carried out based on the Open Web Application Security Project (OWASP) penetration testing scheme. Furthermore, penetration testing was also performed by an expert based on Acunetix report. Three potential vulnerabilities were found and risk estimation was calculated. According to OWASP risk rating, these vulnerabilities were at the medium level.

Abstract

Recent year in the world the real applications, usually needed only a few key features of Universal Asynchronous Receiver Transmitter (UART). It is a type of serial communication protocol, which improves the problem of parallel communication and develops effectively in several services. This paper presents a transceiver system based on PIC microcontroller. It also presents software designs to transmit and receive data through the virtual channel. The system is designed to study the effects of baud rate variations between transmitter and receiver for noise and noiseless AWGN channel. The system has been simulated by Proteus simulator version 8.1, and then tested successfully at baud rates (2400, 4800, 9600, and 19200) bps. Simulation results show that the error rate has zero values at the desired baud rate value, and also, at the adjacent values. Thus, the zero level of error rate is increased by increasing baud rate values, which fixed by the transmitter and vice versa.

Abstract

The manual process of searching out individuals in an already existing research field is cumbersome and time-consuming. Prominent and rookie researchers alike are predisposed to seek existing research publications in a research field of interest before coming up with a thesis. From extant literature, automated similar research area detection systems have been developed to solve this problem. However, most of them use keyword-matching techniques, which do not sufficiently capture the implicit semantics of keywords thereby leaving out some research articles. In this study, we propose the use of Ontology-based pre-processing, Latent Semantic Indexing and K-Means Clustering to develop a prototype similar research area detection system, that can be used to determine similar research domain publications. Our proposed system solves the challenge of high dimensionality and data sparsity faced by the traditional document clustering technique. Our system is evaluated with randomly selected publications from faculties in Nigerian universities and results show that the integration of ontologies in preprocessing provides more accurate clustering results.

Abstract

In this study, design and simulation of microtrip bandpass filter is presented using RT/Duroid 6010.2 lm substrate. This filter has fan-shaped topology with small dimensions of 12x12 mm2, designed for dual band frequencies at 3.41 and 6.14 GHz. The insertion loss and return loss of initial band at 3.41 GHz are -0.7 and -38.224 dB respectively and its bandwidth ranged from 3.3561 to 3.48 GHz. On the other hand, for 2nd band at 6.14 GHz, the insertion loss and return loss have been -1.377 and -14 dB respectively with bandwidth ranged from 6.0951 to 6.1782 GHz.

Abstract

Optimal power flow (OPF) study is conducted on a power system to achieve one of the following objectives: cost/loss minimization or available transfer capability (ATC) calculation in a deregulated environment. Distributed generation (DG) is a small source of electric power conversion from non-conventional energy sources and Hybrid DGs which often the most cost-effective and reliable way to produce power. The optimality of control variables and minimum value of objective functions in OPF study would definitely change when DGs are interconnected to the grid. The change would be respect to the location, quantity and combination of power injection by DGs. On the other hand, FACTS controllers are effective in utilizing the existing of transmission network which is very important especially in a deregulated system. Unified power flow controller (UPFC), a second generation FACTS controller, is well known for minimizing the cost of generation/losses with a good voltage profile as well as for ATC improvement. This paper conducts a detailed OPF study on a 9 bus system for the above mentioned three objectives to analyze the effect of DGs with and without UPFC. From the results, it is found that hybrid DGs along with UPFC yields better performance in many aspects.

Abstract

Many  engineering problems are the complex optimization problems with the large numbers of global and local optima, due to its complexity, general particle swarm optimization methods are slow speed on convergence and easy to be trapped in local optima. In this paper, a highly efficient particle swarm optimizer is proposed, which employ the dynamic transition strategy of inertia factor, search space and velocity in each cycle to plan large-scale space global search and refined local search as a whole according to the fitness change of swarm in optimization process of the engineering problems, and to quicken convergence speed, avoid premature problem, economize computational expenses, and obtain global optimum. Several complex benchmark functions are used to testify the new algorithm and the results showed clearly the revised algorithm can rapidly converge at high quality solutions.

Abstract

 On the basis of the analyses for intergroup complementary (IGC) code and zero correlation zone complementary code, a novel IGC code has been proposed to adapt M-ary orthogonal code spreading spectrum system or quasi-synchronous CDMA system. The definition and construction methods of the new IGC codes are presented and an applied example is given in this paper. Theoretical research and simulation results show that the main advantages of the novel IGC code are as following: The code sets of the novel IGC code is more than IGC code under the same code length. The zero correlation zone length is longer than the intergroup IGC code, but shorter than the intergroup IGC code. Under the same code length, the auto-correlation performance of the novel IGC code is better than that of the IGC code, and both are of similar cross-correlation performance.

Abstract

A finite element model of the expansion Joints’ common damages of a novel comb-plate by using the finite element software ABAQUS is presented in this paper. The mechanical behavior of expansion Joints is analyzed to verify the weak parts of it. The research results provide a reference for the design of the comb-plate expansion Joints.
