Abstract

In this paper an optimal energy and reactive power dispatch problem is solved by using the ant lion optimization (ALO) algorithm by considering the total cost minimization and social welfare maximization (SWM) objectives. Two different market models are proposed in this work, i.e., conventional/sequential market clearing and the proposed/simultaneous market clearing. In each market model, two objectives, i.e., total cost minimization and SWM are considered. The conventional social welfare (SW) consists the benefit function of consumers and the cost function of active power generation. In this paper, the conventional SW is modified by including the reactive power cost function. The reactive power cost calculation is exactly same as that in the conventional practice. The most important difference is that instead of doing cost calculation in post-facto manner as in conventional practice, simultaneous approach is proposed in this work. The scientificity and suitability of the proposed simultaneous active and reactive power methodology has been examined on standard IEEE 30 bus test system.

Abstract

In today’s populated world, urban land availability has become scarce and manual involvement of humans for a proper task makes a work less efficient and less accurate. The garage is one of the workstations which needs to be modernized for enhanced land utilization, energy saving approach and systematic functioning. This goal can only be achieved through the automation of parking systems. We have proposed an automated control system for garage using siemens PLC (programmable logic control)-1200 to control the vehicles. The number plate of the car is recorded through the RFID reader and the parking slot for that particular vehicle is allotted automatically based on the available vacancy. Along with this the parking area is fitted with fire alarm, which will raise if any smoke or fire happens in the location. The total parking cost of each vehicle can be calculated based on the number of hours it has been parked. And the information will be displayed in the SCADA screen. Additionally, instead of the full lightening of the complete place, lightening will be provided only in the direction of movement of the car, preventing wastage of energy.

Abstract

Supervised learning using shallow machine learning methods is still a popular method in processing text, despite the rapidly advancing sector of unsupervised methodologies using deep learning. Supervised text classification for application user feedback sentiments in Indonesian Language is one of the applications which is quite popular in both the research community and industry. However, due to the nature of shallow machine learning approaches, various text preprocessing techniques are required to clean the input data. This research aims to implement and evaluate the role of Levenshtein distance algorithm in detecting and preprocessing misspelled words in Indonesian language, before the text data is then used to train a user feedback sentiment classification model using multinomial Naïve Bayes. This research experimented with various evaluation scenarios, and found that preprocessing misspelled words in Indonesian language using the Levenshtein distance algorithm could be useful and showed a promising 8.2% increase on the accuracy of the model’s ability to classify user feedback text according to their sentiments.

Abstract

Anapedia is a web-based encyclopedia designed specifically for children. The web was built because there are still very few Indonesian-language encyclopedias for children. This paper presents an evaluation of the usability of the Anapedia website developed for children in Indonesia to retrieve information available in a wide range of areas. In the context of usability evaluation of children encyclopedia, this is the first study to analyze usability problems identified by experts during the heuristic inspection on their overall evaluation score. This evaluation, performed by seven usability experts, involved the identification and analysis of usability problems in the selected website. The assessment process was mainly based on the Sirius framework evaluation mechanism. The web considered as having high usability level, but they identified many usability problems for further improvement of the site. The most violated heuristic item was found to be “help” whereas the least violated heuristic item was “labelling” aspect.

Abstract

India is a country which has a cornerstone of agriculture. And as it comes to fruit/vegetable sorting and packaging in India, human labor has been a vital part. With manual hand picking, it is a very laborious task to classify the quality of fruits/vegetables and simultaneously pack them. One leading-edge technology for the fulfilment of this purpose is ‘Image Processing’ technology which is extremely fast and cost-efficient. Our whole idea revolves around the fact that each fruit will be inspected, sort and simultaneously packed. For the same, a low cost automated mechatronic system has designed consisting of a solitary mechanical arrangement, which is controlled and synchronized through electronic components. Fruits/vegetables are sorted as high-quality and low-quality on the basis of physical appearance and weight. For this, a suitable algorithm is designed using the Open CV library. And the sorting is done using Arduino Uno and Raspberry pi. Hence the aim is to develop a sorting and packaging facility that can be established at the very root level itself which will be economically compact and accurate and will give more justice to farmers.

Abstract

Author name disambiguation (AND), also recognized as name-identification, has long been seen as a challenging issue in bibliographic data. In other words, the same author may appear under separate names, synonyms, or distinct authors may have similar to those referred to as homonyms. Some previous research has proposed AND problem. To the best of our knowledge, no study discussed specifically synonym and homonym, whereas such cases are the core in AND topic. This paper presents the classification of non-homonym-synonym, homonym-synonym, synonym, and homonym cases by using the DBLP computer science bibliography dataset. Based on the DBLP raw data, the classification process is proposed by using deep neural networks (DNNs). In the classification process, the DBLP raw data divided into five features, including name, author, title, venue, and year. Twelve scenarios are designed with a different structure to validate and select the best model of DNNs. Furthermore, this paper is also compared DNNs with other classifiers, such as support vector machine (SVM) and decision tree. The results show DNNs outperform SVM and decision tree methods in all performance metrics. The DNNs performances with three hidden layers as the best model, achieve accuracy, sensitivity, specificity, precision, and F1-score are 98.85%, 95.95%, 99.26%, 94.80%, and 95.36%, respectively. In the future, DNNs are more performing with the automated feature representation in AND processing.

Abstract

As the name infers, the triple-layer remote phosphor (TRP) has 3 phosphor layers includes the red Mg8Ge2O11F2:Mn4+ phosphor layer on the top, the green MgCeAl11O19:Tb3+ phosphor layer in the middle, and the yellow YAG:Ce3+ layer at the bottom and is mentioned as a solution to increase the chromaticity and luminescence adequacy of the white LEDs (WLEDs) in this article. As to control the red light for higher value achieve in the color rendering index (CRI), using red Mg8Ge2O11F2:Mn4+ phosphor in the TRP structure is recommended. All the outcomes indicate that when red phosphor Mg8Ge2O11F2:Mn4+ concentration grows the CRI gets higher values, and drastically declines when the concentration of green phosphor MgCeAl11O19:Tb3+ increases. As the same time, applying the green MgCeAl11O19:Tb3+ phosphor layer to manage the green light as it can make the luminous efficacy (LE) of WLEDs increase. In particular, the index of LE can also be improved over 40% by limiting the scatter of light and putting in green light. Moreover, to preserve the average correlated color temperature (ACCT) stable at 8500K, the yellow YAG:Ce3+ concentration must be cut down as the concentration of red and green phosphor rise.

Abstract

In this paper, we conduct a comprehensive study on dimensionality reduction (DR) techniques and discuss the mostly used statistical DR technique called principal component analysis (PCA) in detail with a view to addressing the classical face recognition problem. Therefore, we, more devotedly, propose a solution to either a typical face or individual face recognition based on the principal components, which are constructed using PCA on the face images. We simulate the proposed solution with several training and test sets of manually captured face images and also with the popular Olivetti Research Laboratory (ORL) and Yale face databases. The performance measure of the proposed face recognizer signifies its superiority.

Abstract

Telemedicine applications allow the patient and doctor to communicate with each other through network services. Several medical image compression techniques have been suggested by researchers in the past years. This review paper offers a comparison of the algorithms and the performance by analysing three factors that influence the choice of compression algorithm, which are image quality, compression ratio, and compression speed. The results of previous research have shown that there is a need for effective algorithms for medical imaging without data loss, which is why the lossless compression process is used to compress medical records. Lossless compression, however, has minimal compression ratio efficiency. The way to get the optimum compression ratio is by segmentation of the image into region of interest (ROI) and non-ROI zones, where the power and time needed can be minimised due to the smaller scale. Recently, several researchers have been attempting to create hybrid compression algorithms by integrating different compression techniques to increase the efficiency of compression algorithms.

Abstract

The rapid expansion in the use of IoT imposes the importance of developing its infrastructure. One of the most important components in IoT infrastructures is the wireless sensor networks. The development of these networks largely depends on how to extend their life. As one of the effective options adopted in this field is the use of cluster heads (CHs). This paper introduces an algorithm that efficiently determine the CHs by iteratively extracting an associative value for each node depending on two factors; node's residual energy, and geometrical distances between nodes and base station. In light of the extracted values, the nodes with the best associative values are elected as CHs based on adjustable threshold determined according to the network usage requirements. The algorithm has proven a significant increase in the lifetime of the network, as well as, it has proven its ability to maintain a high level of energy for long period of time. The proposed algorithm outperformed similar protocols like low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (LEACH) and region based low energy adaptive clustering hierarchy (R-LEACH) by prolonging the network lifetime and increasing network stability, as well as enhances the throughput significantly.
