Abstract

In this paper, multiple-input and multiple-output (MIMO) antennas are designed and simulated. The designed antennas are compact double-sided printed microstrip patch antennas and fed by a microstrip line. These antennas are designed for 3.5 to 10 GHz frequencies used for medical, industrial, sciences, and various fields of 5G communications and networking applications. Furthermore, a MIMO system is designed using the polarization variability of the individual antennas, which yields better results in terms of mutual coupling (S12 and S21), reflection coefficient (S11 and S22), and voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), which is less than 2 indicate improved matching conditions. The designed antennas showed an acceptable gain (around 2 dB) and an envelope correlation coefficient (ECC) is <0.002. In addition, the proposed MIMO antennas exhibited isolation is -25 dB at 6 GHz, which is preferable in 5G mobile antennas.

Abstract

In this work we study some methods of storing data in the cloud for a given time using secret sharing technology. Such problems are especially relevant in the context of the rapid development of the internet of things (IoT). Chips, smart cards and other physically small devices, as a rule, have significant memory limitations, so there is a need to use cloud storage as an auxiliary tool for secure data storage. We present method for secure storing data in distributed servers, provided that servers remote from each other do not collude with each other. In the paper we also consider two diferent methods for storing data using various cryptographic solutions, such as Shamir's secret sharing method, El Gamal scheme, diffie-hellman key distribution protocol.

Abstract

Cloud users have recently expanded dramatically. The cloud service providers (CSPs) have also increased and have therefore made their infrastructure more complex. The complex infrastructure needs to be distributed appropriately to various users. Also, the advances in cloud computing have led to the development of interconnected cloud computing environments (ICCEs). For instance, ICCEs include the cloud hybrid, intercloud, multi-cloud, and federated clouds. However, the sharing of resources is not facilitated by specific proprietary technologies and access interfaces used by CSPs. Several CSPs provide similar services but have different access patterns. Data from various CSPs must be obtained and processed by cloud users. To ensure that all ICCE tenants (users and CSPs) benefit from the best CSPs, efficient resource management was suggested. Besides, it is pertinent that cloud resources be monitored regularly. Cloud monitoring is a service that works as a third-party entity between customers and CSPs. This paper discusses a complete cloud monitoring survey in ICCE, focusing on cloud monitoring and its significance. Several current open-source monitoring solutions are discussed. A taxonomy is presented and analyzed for cloud resource management. This taxonomy includes resource pricing, assignment of resources, exploration of resources, collection of resources, and disaster management.

Abstract

In light of the advanced technological development in the world, this study aims to use alternative energy for generating electric energy at the lowest cost. Solar cells are devices that have special operating conditions. The most important of these conditions are the temperature of cells and the intensity of solar radiation. Sometimes the climate condition does not match the ideal conditions used for operating solar cells in many regions around the world. Although the Middle East and Iraq in particular, is considered one of the sunniest areas in the world, solar energy cannot be relied upon to generate electric energy effectively because of the problem of high temperature in solar cells in the summer as well as the problem of dust. In this paper, a simple and economical method was designed to overcome the main problems in the operation of solar cells represented by high temperature in solar cells as well as the problem of dust accumulated on the surface of solar cells which impedes the entry of sunlight into those cells. The method is conducted by immersing the solar cells in running water at a distance that should be close to the surface of the water.

Abstract

Recently, advances in sensor technologies, data communication paradigms, and data processing algorithms all affect the feasibilities of the bridges structural health monitoring and deterioration detection, and other implementations of monitoring operations. The paper proposes a method to design an irregularity detection and monitoring system for road bridges that combines internet of things (IoT) and artificial intelligence (AI) technologies. Raspberry Pi 4 embedded computer integrating IoT and AI technology with convolutional neural network (CNN) is employed to simultaneously monitor remote bridges on websites and apps via Google Firebase cloud database. The first step of successful testing in the laboratory showed that the system can work stably and coincide with the proposed goals.

Abstract

Dielectric characterization is very essential before the material can be utilized in designing microwave networks. Circular cylindrical resonators have been widely used for material characterization, but it is not a preferable design during the measurement of liquid samples as the sample placement requires repetitive process of opening and closing the lid of the cavity. This repetition procedure easily affects the accuracy of measurement and may lead to a measurement error. In this study, a rapid and less measurement procedure of liquid material characterization is proposed. The proposed rectangular resonator design is far more convenient and easier to handle as it does not require complex sample preparation. Considering electric field leakage, a hole is designed at the top of the cavity to ease the inserting process of sample. A 5-GHz prototype of a rectangular resonator is designed and fabricated to measure a liquid sample. Complex scattering parameters are measured using a vector network analyzer before the dielectric properties are estimated using an inverse technique. The dielectric properties of distilled water are measured to demonstrate the practicality of the proposed measurement technique. As a result, the measured dielectric properties of distilled water show a reasonable agreement with the values from other literature

Abstract

Over the last two years, most scientists have been researching the solution to the pandemic coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19). So, the effective inspection and the rapid diagnosis of COVID-19 provide a mitigation ability to the burden on healthcare systems. These research works focus on detecting and knowing the history of infection in terms of time and developed symptoms. In infections detection, artificial intelligence (AI) technologies increase the accuracy and efficiency of the adopted detection methods. These methods will aid the medical staff in classifying patients, essentially when there is a healthcare resources shortage. This paper proposed machine learning-based models for detecting the time of COVID-19 infection in weeks using the laboratory factors of detected antibodies immunoglobulins G and immunoglobulins M (IgG-IgM). This test is common and helpful in diagnosing the suspected patients who held a negative result for the reverse transcription-polymerase chain reaction (RT-PCR) test. The proposed models consider two machine learning models adopting root mean square error (RMSE) and mean absolute error (MAE) factors. The results show acceptable efficiency of performance that ranges from 80% to 100% for pointing the patient in any week of infection, to reduce the likelihood of transmitting the infection from patients who have developed symptoms but with false-negative RT-PCR test.

Abstract

E-learning allows the students to access, repeat and use the scientific materials wherever and whenever the users want. Both academics and learners are the leading and essential actors in the process of the learning process. Moreover, the acceptance of a technology is the positive react for users by using such technology. Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, e-learning has become mandatory over the world, thus, there is a necessity to investigate the determinants of e-learning adoption in higher education institutions (HEIs) in Iraq. Consequently, this paper aims to investigate elearning adoption and identify the determinants of e-learning in HEIs. An instrument was developed with eight dimensions based on technology organization and environmental (TOE) elements. The sample selection was of 580 students and 130 university lecturers who spread over several colleges. A clustering sampling method was used in the sampling selection process. Some hypotheses were proposed and tested via the paired T-test tool. To evaluate the relationship between the TOE variables and e-learning adoption, a regression analysis was carried out. The study findings classified into two categories, first, it helps to determine to what extent e-learning be adopted. Second, it provides meaningful guidance for higher education institutions that should follow as a pre-requested before adopting e-learning
