Abstract

This paper presents a broadband Doherty power amplifier (DPA) for Sub-6 GHz 5G wireless applications, integrating a metamaterial-based harmonic control circuit to suppress the 2nd and 3rd harmonics. The design employs a CGH40010F transistor on a Rogers RO3004C substrate. All results are obtained from simulations, while the resonator has been experimentally validated. The proposed approach enhances drain efficiency under output back-off (OBO) conditions without compromising linearity. Simulation results show a gain of 12.2–16.18 dB, with drain efficiency from 50.42 % to 79.83 %. Efficiency remains high at 3 dB and 6 dB back-off, ranging from 50.8–75.6 % and 36–62.8 %, respectively. These findings demonstrate the DPA’s potential for next-generation base stations requiring compact, efficient, and wideband amplifiers, offering a practical solution for modern wireless communication systems. The novelty lies in combining broadband DPA design with harmonic suppression via metamaterials, providing improved efficiency and spectral performance.

Abstract

In the highly competitive landscape of Malaysian internet service providers (ISPs), users seek efficient ways to assess service quality. While various websites allow visual comparisons of fiber ISPs, a direct side-by-side evaluation remains elusive. A survey of 101 respondents revealed that 92.1% found researching a company’s reputation time-consuming. Additionally, relying on English-centric online ratings may lead to skewed outcomes, disregarding reviews in diverse languages. In response, we developed a web-based dashboard utilizing Twitter sentiment analysis (SA) and the naïve Bayes (NB) algorithm to classify Malaysia’s best fiber ISPs. The SA focused on four key factors: package price, internet speed, coverage area, and customer service, simplifying the comparison process. The system’s usability and functionality tests showed that both the English and Malay models could classify scraped Twitter data with an accuracy of 80%. The system’s remarkable usability score of 94.58% on the system usability scale (SUS) confirms its acceptability and excellent performance in achieving research goals.

Abstract

The rotary inverted pendulum (RIP) has been used in various control application areas. This system can be represented as two degree of freedom (2-DOF), consisting of a rotating arm and rotating pendulum rod. RIP is an excellent example of designing a single-input multi-output (SIMO) system. Due to unstable RIP system dynamics, and its nonlinear model, multiple control techniques have been used to control this system. This paper uses integer and fractional order proportional integral-proportional derivative (PI-PD) controllers to stabilize the pendulum in the vertical direction. Constrained optimization approaches, such as the grey wolf optimization (GWO) methodology, are utilized to estimate the parametric values of the controllers. The simulation results showed that the fractional order PI-PD controller outperforms the integer order PI-PD controller with and without disturbance signal existence. A multiple results comparison has illustrated the superiority of fractional order controller over a previous work.

Abstract

The third-generation partnership developed the fifth-generation specifications to satisfy the expansion of mobile applications and the grown demand for extra data flow. As the real time services in 5G networks are widespread, professional scheduling algorithms are necessary to deal with the assignment of the scarce frequency resources among different categories of applications, ensuring the quality of service and improving the user experience. This paper proposes a real time flow scheduling algorithm by enhancing the scheduling metric to prioritize real time flows such as voice and video, particularly as the packet delay approaches its threshold time. The performance metrics of the proposed algorithm were evaluated and compared to three well-known algorithms, which are the modified largest weighted delay first, the exponential proportional fair, and the logarithmic rule. The simulation results, which was conducted by a dedicated software, showed that the proposed algorithm achieved up to 1.5 times the throughput of the other algorithms and resulted in less than half the video packets loss ratio compared to others, moreover, it offered a higher fairness index between users than other algorithms for video packets.

Abstract

As a country that has its language, English is an international language that needs to be mastered. Until now, the mastery of English in Indonesian on an international scale is in a low category. Learning English should be taught to children from an early age. For children with special needs, special learning methods are needed so that the material is conveyed. Educational games can be used as an interesting learning media. In this study, an English educational game was created that had the concepts of a quiz, rearrange, and matching. Fisher-Yates algorithm was applied to randomize the questions so that the questions that came out varied. Fuzzy Sugeno algorithm is also applied to the scoring calculation, with input variables of time, value, and the number of stars obtained. The system test outcomes show that the application of the Fisher-Yates algorithm was successful because every question that came out was randomized. The application of the Fuzzy Sugeno algorithm happened also successful because of the high degree of accuracy. Besides, the use of games shows there is an increase in student understanding as evidenced by the acquisition of grades. The results of the average value in doing the test is from 80.41 to 88.3 after playing the game.

Abstract

The field of image and 3-dimensional (3D) data segmentation is growing fast and has many uses, like in medicine, and robotics. In this article, we explain how computers understand and divide images and 3D data. We compare different ways of doing this in 2D and 3D, and look at the computer methods used. We also discuss recent work and what they discovered. This article gives a broad overview of what’s happening in this area of computer science. It explains the goals of the research, how they do it, and what they’ve found out. It’s a useful guide for researchers to understand what’s happening now and what challenges they might face in the future.

Abstract

Owing to the demand for frequency agility, a switchable ultra-wideband (UWB) hexagonal antenna was developed in this study. The proposed antenna features two notch filters introduced by two U-shaped slots on the patch to reduce interference from other wireless networks by rejecting the unique frequency bands. In addition, the proposed antenna comprises a hexagonal radiator attached to a feeding 50 Ω standard microstrip line. To fabricate the antenna prototype, a substrate (Rogers RT/Duroid 5880) with loss tangent and relative permittivity values of 0.0009, and 2.2, respectively, was used. Frequency and pattern reconfigurability were achieved by changing the electrical equivalent circuit of two positive-intrinsic-negative (PIN) diodes sandwiched within two U-shaped slots. The evaluation confirmed that the antenna operated within the D1&D2-ON configuration across the entire UWB range while, effectively filtering the wireless body area network (WBAN) (6.10–6.56 GHz) and radar application (9.16–10.79 GHz) bands when both diodes were OFF. The radiation efficiency and gain reached values of 92.9 % and 7.5 dB, respectively. The proposed design offers a robust performance with enhanced interference rejection. This makes it suitable for modern cognitive radio systems.

Abstract

Energy consumption by sector in Malaysia is rising significantly, especially for residential and commercial sectors, and is expected to continue to increase in the upcoming years. The existing power generated from a proton-exchange membrane fuel cell (PEMFC) system may be insufficient to sustain peak load demands during peak periods in stationary residential applications. The presence of an ultra-capacitor (UC) bank would be beneficial as a support as it can supply a large burst of power. The integration of PEMFC and UC has the potential to provide an effective way to supply power demands, has better energy efficiency, and is also economically friendly. In this research, we demonstrate a proposed combined PEMFC and UC bank that operates in parallel. A novel design methodology and dynamic model for both PEMFC and UC systems as energy sources have been developed for stand-alone residential applications. The simulation results are shown in Matlab Simulink. These results are based on mathematical and dynamic models of the system being shown.

Abstract

Spare parts demand in many industrial systems is inherently sparse and intermittent. In practice, long periods of zero usage are common, even though inventory must still be maintained to ensure operational reliability. This situation increases holding costs and the risk of obsolescence, while also limiting the effectiveness of conventional forecasting techniques. This study demonstrates that a global XGBoost model trained across multiple spare-part items significantly outperforms item-specific models under sparse demand conditions. Using six years of historical spare-parts usage and procurement data from the energy sector, this study compares global and single-item extreme gradient boosting (XGBoost) modeling strategies. Forecast accuracy is evaluated using mean absolute error (MAE), root mean squared error (RMSE), mean absolute percentage error (MAPE), and median absolute error (MdAE), which is particularly suitable for zero-inflated demand patterns. The results consistently show that the global XGBoost model achieves lower errors across all metrics. In particular, the global model attains a markedly lower MdAE (0.00018), indicating greater robustness when demand is irregular and intermittent.

Abstract

In this paper we present the design of an antenna array for 5G applications. The proposed prototype of the antenna array is design to function at both 24 GHz and 27 GHz frequencies, utilizing Rogers RT5880 with a permittivity equal to 2.2 and a loss tangent of 0.0009. The CST Studio Suite software is employed for simulating the suggested. The primary goals of this research encompass achieving a notable return loss, increased gain, minimized voltage standing wave ratio (VSWR), enhanced directivity, and an overall improvement in operational efficiency. The results of the simulation showcase encouraging performance metrics, including a return loss of -68.70 dB, a bandwidth larger 7.369 GHz (ranging from 22.191 GHz to 29.56 GHz), a gain of 10.52 dB. Furthermore, the microstrip patch antennas (MPA) array system showcases an impressive efficiency rating of 95.63%.
