Abstract

Morphometric and morphological bat identification are a conventional method of identification and requires precision, significant experience, and encyclopedic knowledge. Morphological features of a species may sometimes similar to that of another species and this causes several problems for the beginners working with bat taxonomy. The purpose of the study was to implement and conduct the random forest and C5.0 algorithm analysis in order to decide characteristics and carry out identification of bat species. It also aims at developing supporting decision-making system based on the model to find out the characteristics and identification of the bat species. The study showed that C5.0 algorithm prevailed and was selected with the mean score of accuracy of 98.98%, while the mean score of accuracy for the random forest was 97.26%. As many 50 rules were implemented in the DSS to identify common and rare bat species with morphometric and morphological attributes.

Abstract

Indonesian government agencies under the Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources have problems in classifying data dictionary of coal. This research conduct grouping coal dictionary using K-Means and MeanShift algorithm. K-means algorithm is used to get cluster value on character and word criteria. The last iteration of Euclidian distance calculation data on k-means combine with Meanshift algorithm. The meanshift calculates centroid by selecting different bandwidths. The result of grouping using k-means and meanshift algorithm shows different centroid to find optimum bandwidth value. The data dictionary of this research has sorted in alphabetically.

Abstract

In this paper, the influence of the distance between phosphor layers in the dual-layer and triple- layer remote package on luminous flux and color rendering property is presented and analyzed. During the simulation, it is recognized that an appropriate distance can produce higher quality of the multi-chip white LED (MCW-LEDs) through adjusting the distance between two and three phosphor layers. According to the research results, 0.1mm is the outstanding distance between two phosphor layers so that the performance of MCW-LEDs can be accomplished the best optimal effect. In addition, the simulation results show that the dual-layer structure yielded higher optical properties than the triple-layer structure in relation to the distance. The highest lumen output of triple layer-structure can be achieved at the distance of 0.6 mm and dual-layer structure is 0.1 mm. Meanwhile, the color rendering index (CRI) changes insignificantly when the distance increases. Triple layer package is not practical for high power white LEDs due to high cost and low conversion efficiency. Dual-layer remote phosphor package with the distance between two phosphor layers of 0.1mm is an optimal structure of LEDs in improving the luminous efficiency and the color quality.

Abstract

Machine vision is very important for ensuring the success of intelligent transportation systems, particularly in the area of road maintenance. For this reason, many studies had been focusing on automatic image-based crack detection as a replacement for manual inspection that had depended on the specialist’s knowledge and expertise. In the image processing technique, the pre-processing and edge detection stages are important for filtering out noises and in enhancing the quality of the edges in the image. Since threshold is one of the powerful methods used in the edge detection of an image, we have therefore proposed a modified Otsu-Canny Edge Detection Algorithm in the selection of the two threshold values as well as implemented a multi-resolution level fixed partitioning method in the analysis of the global and local threshold values of the image. This is then followed by a statistical measure in selecting the edge image with the best global threshold. This study had utilized the road crack image dataset that were obtained from Crackforest. The results had revealed the proposed method to not only perform better than the conventional Canny edge detection method but had also shown the maximum value derived from the local threshold of 5x5 partitioned image outperforming the other partitioned scales.

Abstract

For the new wireless systems and beyond, the intelligent transportation system is considered as one of the main features that could be covered in the new research topics. Furthermore, both high-speed data transmission and data processing play a crucial role for these generations. Our work covers two main propositions in order to attain an improvement in such intelligent systems performance. A clustering algorithm is proposed and presented for grouping mobile nodes based on their speeds with some modified head assignments processes. This will be combined with a parallel-processing technique that enhances the QoS. Mainly, this work concerns enhancing the V2V data transmission and the processing speed. Thus, a wavelet processing stage has been imposed to optimize the transmitted power phenomenon. In order to check the validity of such proposition, five main efficiency factors have been investigated; namely complementary cumulative distributions, bit rates, energy efficiency, the lifetime of cluster head and the ordinary nodes reattaching-head average times.

Abstract

Smart cities wireless advertising (smart mobile-AD) filed is one of the well-known area of research where smart devices using mobile ad hoc networks (MANET) platform for advertisement and marketing purposes. Wireless advertising through multiple fusion internet of things (IoT) sensors is one of the important field where the sensors combines multiple sensors information and accomplish the control of self-governing intelligent machines for smart cities advertising framework. With many advantages, this field has suffered with data security. In order to tackle security threats, intrusion detection system (IDS) is adopted. However, the existing IDS system are not able to fulfill the security requirements. This paper proposes an intellectual characteristic selection algorithm (ICSA) integrated with normalized intelligent genetic algorithm-based min-max feature selection (NIGA-MFS). The proposed solution designs for wireless advertising system for business/advertising data security and other transactions using independent reconfigurable architecture. This approach supports the wireless advertising portals to manage the data delivery by using 4G standard. The proposed reconfigurable architecture is validated by using applications specific to microcontrollers with multiple fusion IoT sensors.

Abstract

In this paper, we develop a new extended state variable observer based LFC scheme for three-area interconnected power systems. The extended state observerbased load frequency controllers are developed which utilize disturbance estimation techniques. The propose control approach assures that the fluctuating things of the load frequencies reaches to a safer range and the load frequencies can also be made at a very minimal not to have an effect on power quality and power flow in multi-area interconnected power system. The results of the simulations using MATLAB/SIMULINK done did not only address that the proposed newly control method works effectively but also change powerfully the parameter variations of the interconnected areas of the power system. Especially, it works very well to limit disturbances impact on interconnected areas in the system. Therefore, the performance of interconnected power system under different multi-conditions is simulated with the new control method to demonstrate the feasibility of the system.

Abstract

The conventional electronic nose usually consists of an array of dissimilar chemical sensors such as quartz crystal microbalance (QCM) combined with pattern recognition algorithm such as Neural network. Because of parallel processing, the system needs a huge number of sensors and circuits which may emerge complexity and inter-channel crosstalk problems. In this research, a new type of odor identification which combines between gas chromatography (GC) and electronic nose methods has been developed. The system consists of a GC column and a 10-MHz quartz crystal microbalance sensor producing a unique pattern for an odor in time domain. This method offers advantages of substantially reduced size, interferences and power consumption in comparison to existing odor identification system. Several odors of organic compounds were introduced to evaluate the selectivity of the system. Principle component analysis method was used to visualize the classification of each odor in two-dimensional space. This system could resolve common organic solvents, including molecules of different classes (aromatic from alcohols) as well as those within a particular class (methanol from ethanol) and also fuels (premium from pertamax). The neural network can be taught to recognize the odors tested in the experiment with identification rate of 85 %. It is therefore the system may take the place of human nose, especially for poisonous odor evaluations.

Abstract

This research discusses about vector control of single-phase Induction Motor (IM) with two main and auxiliary windings under stator winding open-phase fault based on Indirect Rotor Flux-Oriented Control (IRFOC). Unlike conventional controller which can only be used for single-phase IM with two windings, the proposed technique in this paper can also be used for single-phase IM under open-phase fault. The proposed fault-tolerant drive system in this paper is based on using transformation matrix. Simulations results confirm the validity of the theoretical analysis.

Abstract

Long Term Evolution (LTE) is the next step (fourth generation) mobile radio communication technology that succeeds the HSPA.3GPP standardization body. LTE is expected to be the most competitive radio technology in the future to provide high-data-rate transmission, low latency, improved service and reduced costs. This paper focuses on one of the basic steps in the LTE network planning, by employing LTE dimensioning process, such as link budget and planning, for uplink and downlink coverage, as well as categorization of simulated received signal strengths. Also, a comparison of different propagation models, used by ATDI software (free-space, Okumura / Hata / David, Stanford University Interim (SUI), COST-231 Hata and ITU -R 525/526 Deygout). The Okumura / Hata / David’s model showed the highest received power sensitivity (-61 dBm, at 3 km separation distance), while COST-231 Hata model shows the lowest sensitivity at same distance (-96 dBm). In this paper, ATDI planning LTE radio planning software platform has been used for estimating the coverage of UTM, which is a dense urban environment.
