Abstract

Abstract—Recently, a Modified SHA-1 (MSHA-1) has been proposed and claimed to have better security performance over SHA-1. However, the study showed that MSHA-1 hashing time performance was slower. In this research, an improved version of MSHA-1 was analyzed using avalanche effect and hashing time as performance measure applying 160-bit output and the mixing method to improve the diffusion rate.  The diffusion results showed the improvement in the avalanche effect of the improved MSHA-1 algorithm by 51.88%, which is higher than the 50% standard to be considered secured. MSHA-1 attained 50.53% avalanche effect while SHA1 achieved only 47.03% thereby showing that the improved MSHA-1 performed better security performance by having an improvement of 9.00% over the original SHA-1 and 3.00% over MSHA-1. The improvement was also tested using 500 random string for ten trials. The improved MSHA-1 has better hashing time performance as indicated by 31.03% improvement. Hash test program has been used to test the effectiveness of the algorithm by producing 1000 hashes from random input strings and showed zero (0) duplicate hashes.

Abstract

Condition-based monitoring (CBM) has been a vital engineering method to assess high voltage (HV) equipment and power cables conditions or health levels. One of the effective CBM methods is partial discharge (PD) measurement or detection. PD event is the phenomenon that always associated with insulation healthiness. PD has been measured and evaluated in this paper to discriminate PD signals from a good signal. A mixed-signal being fed at an AI technique with statistical modified input data to do fast classification (less than five seconds) with nearly zero error. In this paper, an unsupervised neural network is applied for PD classification. The methods combine the self-organizing maps (SOMs) and feature statistical transformation. By the combination of these methods, the ‘range’ normalization method produced the best classification outcomes. This development decided that PD information was effectively correlated and grouped by means of MATLAB’s SOM Toolbox and transformation device to discriminate the normal signal from the PD signal.

Abstract

The use of Bangla abusive texts has been accelerated with the progressive use of social media. Through this platform, one can spread the hatred or negativity in a viral form. Plenty of research has been done on detecting abusive text in the English language. Bangla abusive text detection has not been done to a great extent. In this experimental study, we have applied three distinct approaches to a comprehensive dataset to obtain a better outcome. In the first study, a large dataset collected from Facebook and YouTube has been utilized to detect abusive texts. After extensive pre-processing and feature extraction, a set of consciously selected supervised machine learning classifiers i.e. multinomial Naïve Bayes (MNB), multi layer perceptron (MLP), support vector machine (SVM), decision tree, random forrest, stochastic gradient descent (SGD), ridge, perceptron and k-nearest neighbors (k-NN) has been applied to determine the best result. The second experiment is conducted by constructing a balanced dataset by random under sampling the majority class and finally, a Bengali stemmer is employed on the dataset and then the final experiment is conducted. In all three experiments, SVM with the full dataset obtained the highest accuracy of 88%.

Abstract

This paper is presented a microstrip antenna with a zig-zag feeder for wireless communication, it has a wideband frequency spectrum (2-14) GHz. The proposed antenna is designed with a zig zag feed line which gave a wideband frequency and acceptable gain (7.448-5.928) dB, this antenna has zig zag slots printed in the ground plane on a lower side of the dielectric substrate, a certain form tuning stub is used to increase the matching between the feeder in the top layer of the substrate and ground plane in the bottom, this stub has an elliptical slot to performance matching input impedance with the feed line. The feeding technique used to feed this antenna is a strip feed line of 50 Ω. Different types of techniques are used to enhance the bandwidth of this antenna to get a wideband suitable for the requirements of the UWB antenna such as adjust the feed point position of the feed line with a tuning stub. All the radiation properties of the presented antenna are tested such as bandwidth, radiation pattern, and, gain.

Abstract

This paper depicts a wideband circularly polarized (CP) antenna for 5G devices. The antenna array has a 3D structure including four simple printed dipole elements with directional radiations, high gain, and high efficiency. It achieves a CP by using the sequential rotation (SR) feeding based on 90°-3dB hybrid couplers in the proposed feeding network. The antenna array bandwidth is wide, 26.7%, with an operating frequency band from 3.35 GHz to 4.35 GHz. The antenna achieves a high peak gain of 10.73 dBi and high efficiency of 93.75%. Besides, the antenna gain is stable over the operating bandwidth (BW). At the centre operating frequency of 3.75 GHz, the angle of circular polarization is 51°. The antenna is designed and fabricated on the Rogers 4003 C substrate. The measured S11 is well matching with the simulation results. With the above characteristics, the proposed antenna can be a suitable candidate for 5G devices.

Abstract

The global coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) pandemic requires the Timor Leste government to make a school from home policy. This policy has encouraged several universities to improve the quality of their distance learning services. However, it seems that the government has not gone deep enough to conduct a preliminary study on each university website's readiness to face this. Based on previous research, the university website impact factor is one of the criteria for increasing webometrics rankings. Still, it is not explained in detail the types of referring pages and domains that can affect webometrics rankings. This research investigates the extent to which R-WIF affects webometrics and examines the factors that can improve the university website's quality. We surveyed the revised web impact factor (R-WIF) at seven universities in Timor Leste to determine their academic sites' relative standing. The results show, although some universities have increased the number of backlinks, the webometrics university ranking prefers backlinks that come from high-authorization sites such as .edu and .gov. The correlation value indicates this phenomenon between R-WIF and Webometrics of 0.464, which means moderate. Universities in Timor Leste need to implement several strategies to improve Webometrics rankings, especially visibility.

Abstract

In many countries, particularly, third world countries. The common issue is saving energy. That`s why smart systems considered now primary for life requirements. This work aims to solve the energy saving problem. We prepared a street model that contains several lampposts on both sides of the street; we placed three IR sensors between the lampposts alongside the street. The IR sensors are connected to the controller (in this work we used Arduino UNO). The controller takes the signal from the IR sensor, and then it sends the command to the lamppost to turn on or off. Depending on the number of cars passed, (we took a sample of a number of cars that passed on an actual street) and through formulas we calculated the power consumed by the lampposts in two cases, the first case is when the lights is always on. The second case is when the smart system applied. We also applied fuzzy logic to the system to take the intensity of the ambient light (the sun light) under consideration. The results showed that the proposed smart lighting system is efficient and reliable in saving energy. The energy saved for both (smart and fuzzy) systems was enormous.

Abstract

This paper studies the secondary network relying relay selection to transmit signal from the secondary source (base station) to two destinations. Especially, two destinations are required non-orthogonal multiple access (NOMA) scheme and it benefits to implementation of the Internet of Things (IoT) systems. However, eavesdropper over-hears signal related link from selected relay to destination. This paper measure secure performance via metric, namely secure outage probability (SOP). In particular, signal to noise ratio (SNR) criterion is used to evalute SOP to provide reliable transmission to the terminal node. Main results indicates that the considered scheme provides performance gap among two signals at destination. The exactness of derived expressions is confirmed via numerical simulation.

Abstract

The main goal of a battery management system (BMS) is to estimate parameters descriptive of the battery pack operating conditions in real-time. One of the most critical aspects of BMS systems is estimating the battery's state of charge (SOC). However, in the case of a lithium-ion battery, it is not easy to provide an accurate estimate of the state of charge. In the present paper we propose a mechanism based on an extended kalman filter (EKF) to improve the state-of-charge estimation accuracy on lithium-ion cells. The paper covers the cell modeling and the system parameters identification requirements, the experimental tests, and results analysis. We first established a mathematical model representing the dynamics of a cell. We adopted a model that comprehends terms that describe the dynamic parameters like SOC, open-circuit voltage, transfer resistance, ohmic loss, diffusion capacitance, and resistance. Then, we performed the appropriate battery discharge tests to identify the parameters of the model. Finally, the EKF filter applied to the cell test data has shown high precision in SOC estimation, even in a noisy system.

Abstract

Bangla blog is increasing rapidly in the era of information, and consequently, the blog has a diverse layout and categorization. In such an aptitude, automated blog post classification is a comparatively more efficient solution in order to organize Bangla blog posts in a standard way so that users can easily find their required articles of interest. In this research, nine supervised learning models which are Support Vector Machine (SVM), multinomial naïve Bayes (MNB), multi-layer perceptron (MLP), k-nearest neighbours (k-NN), stochastic gradient descent (SGD), decision tree, perceptron, ridge classifier and random forest are utilized and compared for classification of Bangla blog post. Moreover, the performance on predicting blog posts against eight categories, three feature extraction techniques are applied, namely unigram TF-IDF (term frequency-inverse document frequency), bigram TF-IDF, and trigram TF-IDF. The majority of the classifiers show above 80% accuracy. Other performance evaluation metrics also show good results while comparing the selected classifiers.
