Abstract

This study analyzes Javanese’s song ornament luk to strengthen vocal register. The movement of luk is either upward or downward has similarity to western vocal technique  portamento. Portamento ornament is usually used in strengthening the switching technique of vocal register. Register is a vocal technique that has an advantage in maintaining timbre, so that the timbre sounds homogenous when the changing of register occurs. The results of the study show that the Javanese’s song ornament Luke has successfully strengthened the vocal register on the practice of register intensification in western vocal disciplines.

Abstract

Tari Serampang XII merupakan tari kreasi yang selalu hidup dalam masyarakat pendukungnyaterutama pada masyarakat Melayu Pesisir Sumatera Timur. Tari Serampang XIIdiciptakan oleh Sauti pada tahun 1938. Tari Serampang XII yang berkembang pesat padamasyarakat Melayu Pesisir Sumatera Timur berakar dari gerak-gerak tari ronggeng Melayu.Konsep tari Serampang XII yang mengisahkan percintaan sampai ke jenjang pernikahandisusun kedalam XII ragam. Nilai estetika yang terdapat dalam tarian ini disesuaikandengan nilai estetika masyarakat Melayu itu sendiri. Tari ini tidak hanya berfungsi sebagaihiburan dan sebagai persentasi estetis, tetapi juga berfungsi sebagai kesinambungan kebudayaan,sebagai sarana pensisikan dalam menyampaikan pesan-pesan moral, dan jugapernah berfungsi sebagai propaganda politik Serampang XII Dance is a creative dance that keeps lingering on the tradition of Coast MalayPeople in East Sumatra. Serampang XII dance was created by Sauti in 1938. The dance which grewrapidly in Coast Malay People, East Sumatra was rooted in Malay ronggeng dance. The concept ofSerampang XII dance, which tells about a love story from courtship to marriage, was composed intoXII varieties. The aesthetic value in this dance is adjusted to the aesthetic one of the Malay people.This dance does not only serve as a cultural sustainability but also as scaling means in conveyingmoral messages and political propaganda.

Abstract

Education with a dimension of EQ (Emotional Quotions) can be found in theconcept of dance education. This study examined how the implementationprocess, and changes in emotional intelligence behaviour of young childrenthrough learning the art of dance. The approach is qualitative. Data collectiontechniques used interviews, participant observation, and studydocumentation. Techniques of data analysis used reducing, clarifying,describing, concluded, and interpret all the information selectively. The resultsshowed that the process of implementation of dance education in earlychildhood can not be separated from teaching and learning process, whichincludes: objectives, teaching materials, teaching methods and learningactivities, facilities and infrastructure, evaluation, social and culturalconditions. Emotional intelligence behaviour change early childhood throughlearning the art of dance can be seen through: (1) a sense of pride, (2) has abrave nature, (3) able to control emotions, (4) able to hone refinement, (5) beable to nurture a sense of responsible, (6) able to nurture a sense of self, (7) easyto interact with others, (8) has a good performance, (9) are able to developimagination, and (10) becomes a creative child.Kata Kunci : pendidikan seni tari, kecerdasan emosional, anak usia dini.

Abstract

Jaran Kepang Semarangan is a community based art product. It is a product that has existed in between generations. This research reviews community-based art education as a means to transfer the culture of Jaran Kepang performance. This research is qualitative research with an interdisciplinary approach of sociology to discuss community-based art education and anthropology to dig deeper into the system of knowledge, values, and beliefs within the performance of Jaran Kepang. The research includes a field study in Semarang Regency. The researchers collected the data through observation, interviews, and documentation. The researchers validated the data through triangulation of technique, sources, theory, and times. The data were analysed based on the theories of Janet Adshead along with Miles and Huberman. The research finds that 1) there is a change of community-based art education, including the system of knowledge, values, and beliefs; 2) the transfer of Jaran Kepang is similar to the theory of Cavalli-Sforza and Feldman under the scheme of AGIL (Adaptation, Goal-attainment, Integration, Latent-pattern-maintenance). There is a shift of inheritance system which is from vertical transmission (intergeneration of family) to horizontal transmission or planned regeneration via social media, training, and performance; 3) the development of Jaran Kepang Semarangan is categorized into five types, which are ritualistic ceremony; entertainment of people who hold events, such as marriage, circumcision, gratitude events; rayonan; and entertainment in tourist attraction, cultural festival, or dance competition.

Abstract

Musik ibadat Gereja sangat besar peranannya untuk mendukung terciptanya suasanaperibadatan. Nyanyian musik ibadat Gereja menjadi bersuasana lebih khidmat, terutamamembantu umat dalam berdoa, karena dengan nyanyian, doa dapat diungkapkan secara lebihmendalam. Penelitian ini mengetengahkan analisis hasil Lokakarya Musik Liturgi sebagaiproses Inkulturasi Musik Gereja di Batak Toba dan Simalungun dalam suatu kajian pustakapada tahun 1986 sampai tahun 1995, dengan tujuan realisasi dinamis dari kepentingan musikLiturgi dan suatu perembesan hidup Katolik ke dalam unsur-unsur budaya musik Batak Tobadan Simalungun pada khususnya serta untuk memperkaya musik Gereja Katolik. Penyesuaianmusik Gereja terhadap unsur musik daerah Batak Toba dan Simalungun terlihat jelas padahasil Lokakarya Musik Liturgi tersebut. Musik Batak Toba pada umumnya bersifat kuat danmegah. Musik Batak Simalungun bersifat tenang, mengalir. Maka dua corak musik Batak inidapat memperkaya khasanah musik Gereja.Kata kunci: Inkulturasi, Musik Gereja

Abstract

The aim of this study is to describe traditional art capitalization as the cultural identity of a society and a strategy of the society which supports traditional art in developing cultural comodification in line with the demands of the tourism industry. The paper is based on field research presenting a case study of the existence of Kubrosiswo traditional art from Magelang Regency, Central Java, Indonesia which develops the cultural comodification as a strategy to respond to the economic capitalization demands, especially the emergence of the tourism industry which appeared in this globalization era. One alternative strategy which is developed in this research is by making a documentary film. The documentary film is one of the strategies to present the reality based on the description in the field, and it is also expected to create awareness in recognizing and comprehending the knowledge of Kubrosiswo traditional art.

Abstract

The study aims to find out the values of leadership ethics in Murwakala play. which is beneficial to society in empowering the existence of the puppet. The position of puppeteers in Central Java is now farther away from the younger generation and society. The preferred method is through an objective method to find out the design of performance according to contemporary tastes, as well as referring to the theory of structuralism in order to uncover the meaning of the textual and contextual performance. Method of observation, interview and documentation are also used, in order to get comprehensive data. The results showed the findings of the ethics of leadership from the teachings of puppet plays Murwakala Asthabrata or eight teachings contained in nature into eight figures in the play, which synergized with the nature of the universe, such as the nature of clouds, rain, water, stars, moon, sun, fire, ocean and earth. The findings are collaborative performances Murwakala played in the new format, according to contemporary tastes, semi-theatrical performances. Another finding is souvenirs designs and culinary business run with team leadership ethics, to enhance the creative industry and economy, establish a relationship with buyers and affiliated institutions, with a supporting program of stakeholders.

Abstract

ACTION research has been known and regard as one of the new strategy for teachers development in Indonesia. Trough Word Bank Project, for instance, action research  has been decided as the second  pilot project and today it has being tried out in eleven provinces  in Indonesia, include Central Java.As a ˜special subject, music, has many problems in teaching. It happens for years particularly in classroom. Unfortunately, there is no serious effort of the teachers to look for what the problems are and how to overcome it. They should know that there are many problems  for the students to learn music in  the class.The problems of music learning usually happen in the classroom,  both for students or for the teachers. However, as if the teachers do not  care to the problems and become  the problems as a routine duty. The difference of the student music ex-perience problems can influence  the learning process. The different background can also influence the quality of the learning process.The music learning in the classroom is a teachers responsibility in which they know how the students learn, the students characteristics, study environment, students' motivations, students progression, etc. To reach a good  result of the students achievement need to teachers responsibility efforts to observe, plan, apply, prac­tice, and so on, to get the good way how to the student can learn music well. The way is carried out in   many times, for about five to seven  or even more then that to achieve a good environment and a good way  to teach or how should the students can learn well. To achieve the way above the teacher need to observe trough research. And the properly research to the purpose is action re­search or classroom-based action research (CAR).

Abstract

Pura Mangkunagaran adalah eks pusat pemerintagan Kadipaten atas pembagiankekuasaan dari Kasunanan Surakarta yang hingga kini tetap menjaga kelestarian budayaleluhur dengan membentuk struktur organisasi dan mengelolanya dengan modelmanajemen khusus. Permasalahan yang diangkat dalam penelitian ini berkait denganstruktur organisasi dan pengelolaan organisasi seni di Pura Mangkunagaran.. Metodepenelitian yang diterapkan adalah kualitatif. Lokasi Penelitian, Pura Mangkunagaran.Teknik pengambilan data dilakukan dengan observasi, wawancara, dan dokumentasi.Langkah analisis data bergerak dari saat pengambilan data, penyajian data, reduksi data,dan verifikasi sebagai suatu siklus sampai temuan penelitian oleh peneliti diyakinikebenarannya. Teknik keabsahan data dilakukan dengan triangulasi, yakni mencocokkandata hasil wawancara, observasi, dan dokumentasi. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan: srtukturorganisasi Pura Mangkunagaran dibuat sedemikian rupa yang menjadikan budayaMangkunagaran tetap terpelihara. Ada empat bagian yang dominan dalam strukturorganisasi di Pura Mangkunagaran, yakni bagian Sekretariat, Kabupaten MandraKumara, Reksa Budaya, dan Kawedanan satria. Keempat bagian tersebut saling fungsionaldengan bagian yang lain hingga menjadikan struktur organisasi itu dapat menjagakelestarian budaya Mangkunagaran. Pengeloaan organisasi seni secara khususdiberikan pada sub bagian Langen Praja dibawah bagian Reksa Budaya. Kepercayaanpenuh untuk mengelola organisasi seni yang menjadi milik Mangkunagaran kepada subbagian Langen Praja menjadikan seni budaya Mangkunagaran tetap eksis di masyarakatsekalipun yang menonjol utamanya hanyalah seni tail.Kata kunci : organisasi, struktur organisasi, Pengelolaan organisasi, organisasi seni.

Abstract

This study aims to describe the form and function of the solo guitar performance of Batang Hari Sembilan in Batu Urip hamlet, Batu Urip Taba village, Lubuklinggau city, South Sumatra. This study used a qualitative de-scriptive approach. Data collection techniques using observation, interviews, and documentation. The collected data were then analyzed using analytical and interactive techniques with data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. Based on the discussion that has been done, this study found that the Single Batang Hari Sembilan Guitar is a rhythm of guitar strings containing rhymes. Pantun is an identity and plays a very important role in the life of the community. The function of the pantun in the solo guitar performance of Batang Hari Sembilan was originally used as a communication function. Currently, this art performance has developed, namely as a ritual function, a function of preserving culture, a function of entertainment, a function of cultural continuity, a function of means of communication, and a function of emotional expression.
