Abstract

This study aims to explore the concepts of ecology and biodiversity, the value of environmental preservation in gunungan wayang kulit purwa, and its correlation to science learning or environmental education in a science subject at the junior high school level to increase environmental awareness. This research employed a qualitative descriptive approach. This research included ethnographic research associated with symbolic interpretation in anthropology. The informants of this study were a puppeteer (dalang), a javanology expert, a gunungan wayang kulit purwa creator, and a biodiversity expert chosen by purposive sampling. Data were collected through semi-structured interviews, literature reviews, and content analysis. Data triangulation was applied to ensure the data validity. The data were analyzed using a spiral analysis model, including managing, reading, marking, describing, classifying, interpreting, and visualizing data continuously. The study results show that the gunungan wayang kulit purwa contains the conservation value and concept of ecology and biodiversity. This concept has a correlation with the material on ecology and biodiversity in the independent curriculum in a science subject at schools. The ecological concept includes biotic and abiotic components, symbiosis, pollinators and predators, food chains, food webs, competition, and the value of environmental preservation. The findings in the form of a link between ecological concepts and biodiversity in the gunungan wayang kulit purwa have implications for the potential use of gunungan wayang kulit purwa as a learning resource for science education in schools or environmental education to increase environmental awareness of the young generation.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the significant effect of rare plant exploration activities in Taman Eden 100 Lumban Julu on students’ Science Process Skills (SPS) levels for deepening Biology learning material. The research method used was quasi-experimental with a significance level of α = 0.05. The data analysis technique used the group average effect test. The results showed that the result of the normality test on the pretest Lo Ltable was 0.1826 0.190 and on the posttest Lo Ltable was 0.1707 0.190, and the homogeneity test results obtained Fcount Ftable = 1.83 2.12. Hypothesis testing calculations obtained tcount ttable = 25.50 1.72. This study concludes that the level of students’ SPS by doing exploration has a significant influence. This can also be seen from the results of calculating the final increase (gain) score, where the gain value for each indicator is classified as medium and high. This shows that the science process skills possessed by students have increased.

Abstract

The starting point of this research is the absence of understanding of students’ conceptions of the human movement system material, as well as students’ unformed creativity. This study aims to analyze the effect of the STEM-approach PjBL model on students’ conceptual understanding and creativity. This research was quantitative research with a quasi-experimental method with a post-test-only control design type. The sampling used a purposive sampling technique. The instruments used were concept comprehension tests, syntax implementation observation sheets, and creativity questionnaire sheets. The paired sample t-test was used to analyze the data. Based on data analysis, the average post-test results for the experimental and control classes are 83.44 and 79.14, respectively. The data analysis of the student creativity questionnaire results suggest that 19 students are quite creative. The paired t-test result for students’ concept understanding is 0.002, indicating that the research hypothesis is accepted, while the result for creativity is 0.64. With moderate criteria, the PjBL model with the STEM approach effects students’ conceptual understanding and creativity.

Abstract

The study aims to find differences in understanding of stereoisomers using h5p interactive videos based on student learning styles. The research method used was quasi-experimental, with a one-group posttest-only design. This study’s subjects were all second-year biology teacher education students at IAIN Syekh Nurjati Cirebon. The data were analyzed using descriptive and two-way ANOVA tests to determine differences in understanding. Future research is suggested to include more interactive video features in learning scenarios and measure other cognitive topics. The study found differences in stereoisomer understanding based on interactive videos and learning styles. There is no relationship between interactive video interaction and learning style and stereoisomer understanding simultaneously. This study is limited to the use of H5P interactive video. Subsequent work can increase the intensity and optimize the use of all H5P interaction features.

Abstract

This study aims to create and develop a Learning Management System (LMS) and teaching materials for General Physics courses as well as to see the effectiveness of using LMS and Ethnoscience-Based Teaching Materials for East Coast Malay Culture, which are closely related to the tradition of weaving pandan leaves as household products and decorations, in Supporting a Valid, Practical and Effective Blended Learning System. This research is included in the research and development method involving 38 students majoring in Physics. The development steps were adapted from the model developed by Thiagarajan, with the implementation stages consisting of (1) define, (2) design, (3) development, and (4) Disseminate. The findings that were obtained in the implementation of this study were that a team of students validated the instrument as a whole to obtain an average gain from cycle I 0.58 (Moderate) and then increased in cycle II 0.64 (Medium) and Cycle III at 0.73 (High). Several conclusions can be drawn that teaching materials based on ethnoscience and LMS improve student learning outcomes and, have met the criteria set for use in lectures and can be uploaded to the learning system using blended learning.
