Abstract

Indonesia as a country with over than 300 million people population needsalternative sources of energy to overcome the future energy crisis. Based ontectonic conditions, Indonesia is a country rich in geothermal sources which canbe utilized as an alternative energy source, especially for power generation andas supporting tools to industry, agriculture, fisheries and other potential areasdevelopment. Semarang district has sufficient geothermal potential to bedeveloped, such as Gedongsongo geothermal field. Temperatures were obtainedusing the method of gas Geothermometer Fumarole in Gedongsongo is at 223ºC,thus Gedongsongo geothermal areas have highly potential for electric power andother economic activities. In the future, this potential can be utilized as analternative energy source that could be capable to fullfilled the community needs.

Abstract

Leptospirosis is an acute infectious disease that can infect humans and animalscaused by leptospira bacteria and classified as zoonotic pathogens. Outbreaks ofthe disease within a few years has been attacking people in Bantul. In the period2009 to March 2013 there have been 394 cases, based on these facts it isnecessary to mapping disease susceptibility regions to leptospirosis in order todetermine priority areas of treatment and prevention. Spatial pattern analysis ofspread of the disease leptospirosis is done by using a method Nearest NeighborDistance Average. Modelling the ecological mapping units using remote sensingdata to tap environmental data such as land use, soil texture, stream buffers, andthe buffers settlement with the visual interpretation method. Index models areused to create vulnerability models of leptospirosis disease. To test the accuracyof the data model is used the cases of leptospirosis which have plots in study field.Based on accuration test, it showed that there are 76 leptospirosis cases (or92.68%) layed on vulnerable area in Imogiri, Bantul and Jetis District. Spatialdistribution pattern analysis of the leptospirosis cases using average nearestneighbor distance methods showed that the distribution of the cases are groupedwith z score value is - 2.41.

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to assess the coastline changes in north coast ofSemarang-Demak. The research method was used satellite image interpretationof Landsat Image in 1998 and Allos Image in 2006, and field cross-checking. Byoverlaying the two satellite images through a geographic information system todetermine the changes that can occured on the north coast of Semarang-Demak.Based on research results showed that the accuracy obtained by 93% and couldbe valid from 28 observation points that form the shoreline and land use.Shoreline that occurred between 1999 and 2006 experienced more abrasionprocess if compared with accretion. The Advice of this study was to acceleratedetermination of the shoreline changes preferably used remote sensing images, inorder to involved community in preventing any abrasion. The methods could bedone through greening coastal areas, for example by mangroves planting on thebeach.

Abstract

This research was conducted in Kreo Sub-watershed in Semarang and aimed toexamine the difference of soil physical characteristic in various land utilizationtypical and to examine the relationship among soil physical characteristic, soilcover and trees stand conditions to infiltration capacity. In this research, thepicking out of the soil specimens and the test of infiltration was conducted in 10(ten) kinds of land utilization in the same condition of slope, soil, land use, anddistribution of precipitation. The result of this research showed that there is asignificant difference among the condition of the texture, the porosity, and thepermeability, whereas the organic matter and the early capacity of water have nosignificant difference. Whereas adequate correlation was found among thepermeability, the early capacity of water and the soil cover condition, mean whilethe trees stand condition, the texture, the organic matter, and the porosity have nostrong correlation with infiltration capacity.

Abstract

General purposes of this research was to assess perceptions and participation inutilization, prevention of mangrove forests damage, to look for an alternativedirection for mangrove forest management to the societies surrounding. Datacollection using surveys, through interviews with a sample of respondents were90 families (KK) or 25 percent of the total population of 358 families. The resultsshowed that the population majority (48.8%) had moderate category knowledgeabout the benefits, the damage effect after use, and the need for prevention ofmangrove forests damage. Most of the population (53.6%) had a low perceptionof the category. This is influenced by the knowledge level of mangrove forests (c= 12.71; significance 0.013). Local government policy to mangrove forestsmanagement, responded negatively by the local community. This was caused bythe absence of mangrove forest management efforts clearly and firmly. Localgovernment should immediately develop a plan of integrated mangrove forestsmanagement, and immediately disseminated to the public around the mangroveforests.
