Abstract

This research aimed to analyse monetary mechanism effectivity to manage inflation in Indonesia through interest rate channel, credit channel, and expectation inflation channel. The research used Vector Error Correction Model (VECM) to analyze effectiveness of monetary policy transmission mechanism in Indonesia. The most effective channel was measured by result of Impulse Response Function and Variance Decomposition. They are: (1). The fastest time lag needed since the shock of monetary instruments (rSBI) until the realization of final target of monetary policy (inflation). (2). How strong the variables in each channel response the shock of SBI interest rate and other variable. The data used in this research is quarterly time series dara from 2005Q1 until 2016Q4. The results of this research show that the most effective channel in managing inflation during 2005Q1 until 2016Q4 is inflation expectation channel.

Abstract

This study explores the Indonesian economic growth in the new autonomous regions using social - economy perspective. More specifically, social - economic issues are proxied on population, poverty rates, education levels, local tax revenues, and distribution of local government social assistance. Meanwhile, community economic growth is proxied by GRDP per capita (PE). The Indonesian economic growth and social-economy issues are measured using Ordinary Least Square (OLS). This study uses new autonomous regions data in Indonesia formed in 2003 – 2008. Employing multiple linear regression, the test results revealed that variable of local tax revenue (PD) was consistently able to explain PE. The same results are shown in the robustness test, where researchers predict the economic growth of the community with the Human Development Index (HDI). In the discussion section, community economic growth represented by PE continues to increase along with the increase in PD and HDI. The conclusion in this study is community economic growth increased since 2009, marked by an increase in PD along with HDI. As an implication, researchers suggest that practitioners and academics use local taxes to measure the community economy in new autonomous regions in Indonesia.

Abstract

The present study investigates the role of exchange rate and interest rate in stock price discovery inIndonesia.Indonesiais experiencing a kind of bubble which is indicated by surplus of current account accompanied by high capital inflow. Capital inflow simustaneusly influences exchange rate, and interest rate, and thus sequently affects stock prices. Employing cointegration approach and Engle Granger Error Corection Model (ECM), covering monthly time series data from January 2000 to April 2010, both short run and long run relationships are investigated. It is found out that there is cointegration relationship between stock price as dependent variable and  exchange rate  and interest rate, as independent variables. In the long run and in the short run, interest rate statisticaly significant negatively influences the stock prices. The impact of exchange rate on stock price is statistically significant, and changes in sign from negative in the short run effect to positive in the long run effect. In the long run, stock price is elastic to the changes in interest rate, and exchange rate. In the short run, the elasticity of stock price is decreasing in responding to the change in interest rate and exchange rate.

Abstract

In the developing countries, the government has a vital role in supporting the development of SME’s as one of economic pillars. There are studies which state that the government has played an active role in supporting the development of SME’s, either from policy or implementation, but several studies argue that government failure in supporting and creating business climate has caused business stagnation for SME’s. This study aims to analyze the coherence between government policy through Regional Superior Products development (under OVOP) program with SME’s main product choice in Central Java province. The analysis using analytic hierarchy process (AHP), on the data collected through focus group discussion (FGD), questionnaire, and secondary data. The result of this study shows weak evidence that there is coherence between government program and SME’s/ SME’s main product choice, there are only 6 districts/cities that have coherence SME’s: Grobogan district, Blora, Rembang, Magelang (city), Brebes, and Banjarnegara, while the rest districts/cities have no coherence between SME’s and government policy. Supply side policy, volume orientation, partial support, and several other factors are the cause of in-coherence. The implication of this finding is that there is a need of evaluation, downstream policy, business link (including education field) that support SME’s will develop.

The sample obtained from Slovin formula is 145 women with the sampling technique using random sampling. Data were collected using a questionnaire and analyzed using SEM with the warpPLS analysis tool. This research shows that the motivation of the population of women does indeed have a significant effect on poverty alleviation because motivation makes what women do to be unbiased. Empowerment of women does not have any effect on motivation for poverty alleviation.
