Trough play, children will be wellprepared for their environment and be ready on their next educational levels.Children’s intelligence is not only determined by a single score based on anintelligence test which measures the verbal, linguistic, and logical mathematicalcompetence. Children also have an intelligence which is called multiple intelligences.People have more or less 8 intelligences, which are verbal linguistic, logicmathematic, visual spatial, kinesthetic, music, interpersonal, intrapersonal, andnaturalistic. The multiple intelligences should be well understood by teachers, parents, and other educators. They should not develop only verbal, linguistic, and logicalmathematical intelligences. Developing multiple intelligences during early childhoodcan be conducted through a joyful play. Multiple intelligences apply in several steps, such as instruction plan, development of instruction strategies, and development ofinstruction evaluation.Kata kunci: pembelajaran melalui bermain, kecerdasan jamak, anak usia dini

Abstract

In the Indonesian school system, English is a compulsory subject taught atvarious education levels with the emphasis on reading and writing skills. In spite ofthe importance of mastering reading and writing skills, most high school students arestill unable to read and comprehend English texts properly. Besides, it is hard for themto write a simple English text appropriately. One possible way to solve the problem isby applying new strategies to improve their reading and writing skills. One of thestrategies that can sufficiently be used is cooperative learning. It is a teachingarrangement that refers to small, heterogeneous groups of students working together toachieve a common goal (Kagan, 1994). There are some types of cooperative learning, one of them is CIRC. This type may be suitable for teaching reading and writing. Itwas shown in the action research involving year VIII students of Isriati Junior HighSchool of Semarang, Indonesia. Abstract

The current important governments policy (Depdiknas) is that the departmentincreases the number of vocational high school students (SMK) so that it is higherthan the number of general senior high school students (SMA). The ratio of SMK andSMA students in 2010 would be around 50:50, and in 2015 around 70: 30. Theimplication of the policy is that the t ratio of SMK and SMA teachers should ideallyalso be equal to the students of SMK and SMA. The need of SMK teachers is notmerely a quantitative matter but also qualitative one. SMK teachers should bequalified and have a competence relevant with the programs offered at the school. Tofulfill the need of SMK teachers, there should be an agreement with other institutionsespecially the institutions which produce SMK teachers.Kata kunci: perluasan, kebutuhan, guru SMK

Abstract

Homeschooling is a relatively new term in the Indonesian education. TheDepartment of National Education (Depdiknas) officially introduces homeschooling as"Sekolah-Rumah". Homeschooling emerges from persistent problems the nationaleducation system faces, such as the frequent changes of curriculum, pros and cons ofthe national examination and examination passing criteria, student enrollment system, and the very expensive education cost. Based on those grounds, homeschoolingbecomes an education alternative for parents to develop their children’s potency. Inhomeschooling, there is no limitation in developing the model of mathematicsteaching. The teaching method applied is one that suits the children’s learning stylebest. To improve the effectiveness of mathematics teaching in homeschooling, thingsand activities of the children’s daily life are used. The challenge of the parents inteaching mathematics to homeschool students is how to understand mathematicconcepts which are relevant to the chosen homeschoool curriculum and how totransform them into ideas adjusted to children’s competence.Kata kunci: Homeschooling, sekolah-rumah, pembelajaran matematika
