Abstract

The purpose of this research was to prove the use of song videos with moving lyrics in improving students’ English pronunciation. Language program students were chosen as the subjects of this study by using a purposive sampling technique.This study used action research design with two cycles in the investigation. In each cycle, the students got a pre-test, a treatment, and a post-test. However, the students were given Initial Pre-Test first before the first cycle and Final Pos-Test after the second cycle. In recording the students’ attitudes, the writer used an observation checklist in each treatment. Besides, in the end of the research, the students were asked to fill a questionnaire to record their opinions relating to the medium.By looking at the data analysis, we can see that there is an improvement. The improvement is proven by comparing Initial Pre-Test (62.20) and Final Post-Test (95.72). On average, the students improve their scores by 33.40 points. Moreover, the results of two observation checklists show that C-2 OC is better than C-1 OC. It means that the students’ motivation increase after they get treatment. Those results are in line with the students’ opinions in the questionnaire in which 90% of them like the medium and agree that it can help them to improve English pronunciation.Based on the results above, it can be concluded that song video with moving lyric is able to improve the students’ English pronunciation. Furthermore, this medium effectively improves their interest, enjoyment, and involvement during learning activities. As a result, the medium is recommended for the students to learn English pronunciation independently because it can be used out of the classroom.

Abstract

This research focused on the Proces-Approach Model in Narrative DiscourseWriting Learning. The four research questions: (1) how are the third semesterstudents’ perception in Language and Litterature Foreign Departement,French Education Study Programme on Proces Approach Model in NarrativeDiscourse of Writing Learning before a treatment, (2) how and how manypercents their capability of Narrative Discourse Writing are before a treatment,(3) how and how many percents their capability of Narrative Discourse Writingare after a treatment, and (4) how are the third semestre students’ perceptionin Language and Litterature Foreign Departement, French Education StudyProgramme on Proces Approach Model in Narrative Discourse of WritingLearning after the treatment? The perception data was taken by questionnairewhich was done 2 x, before and after the treatment, whereas thestudents’capability to write a narrative discourse was used by pretest andposttest. The findings show that firstly, the pretest result is various. Thestudents’s kwnoledge of definition narrative discourse reach 80 %, of narrativediscourse organition 92 %, of the experience writing of narrative discourse76%, and of the writing step 72 %. Besides, the students’ unknown of lexicaland grammatical marquers reach 80 % and 88 %. Secondly, totally, if I comparethe first and the second test, the result shows that the students who got A, B,and D decrease, from 1 to 0 student (5,26%), from 8 to 7 students (5,26%), andfrom 3 to 1 student (10,53%). But the students who got C and D increase, from5 to 8 students (15,79%) and from 2 to 3 students (5,26%). Finally, thestudents’ perception after the treatment indicate a various result. 80 %students are not satisfied of theirs narrative discourse writings, 60 % studentsstill has some difficulties, 80 % students are conscious of theirs weakness, and84 % students agreed about the researcher’s evaluation.Keywords: capability, writing, narrative discourse, proces approach writing model

Abstract

Latar belakang yang mendorong penelitian ini adalah rendahnya kemampuan interpesrsonal anak dan keterampilan bercerita yang disebabkan kurangnya pembelajaran yang efektif dalam mengoptimalkan kemampuan dan keterampilan.Tujuan yang hendak dicapai dalam penelitian ini adalah untuk mengetahui keefektifan model Role Playing dengan bermain wayang pada materi drama kelas V SD Negeri 02 Klapasawit Purbalingga dilihat pada kemampuan interpersonal anak dan keterampilan bercerita serta ketuntasan belajar siswa. Sampel yang diambil adalah 39 siswa kelas VA dan VB dengan menggunakan teknik random sampling. Data dalam penelitian ini diperoleh melalui observasi, wawancara, dokumentasi, dan tes. Berdasarkan hasil uji t kemampuan interpersonal diketahui t lebih dari t yaitu 8,3183747 1,678. Sedangkan untuk uji t keterampilan bercerita diketahui t tabel hitung lebih dari t yaitu 7,13149 1,678. Hasil ketuntasan belajar individu untuk siswa kelas kontrol di atas 65% dengan ketuntasan belajar individu tertinggi sebesar 91% dan terendah sebesar 73% dan untuk kelas eksperimen ketuntasan belajar individu di atas 65% dengan ketuntasan belajar individu tertinggi 95% dan terendah 81%. Ketuntasan belajar klasikal untuk kelas eksperimen dan kelas kontrol sebesar 85% yaitu 96%. Disimpulkan bahwa melalui penerapan model Role Playing dengan bermain wayang dapat mencapai ketuntasan belajar. Selanjutnya hasil uji t dapat disimpulkan bahwa model Role Playing dengan bermain wayang pada pembelajaran Bahasa Indonesia efektif terhadap kemampuan interpersonal anak dan keterampilan bercerita.This research background is the low ability interpesrsonal children and storytelling skills due to lack of effective learning in optimizing the capabilities and skills. Goals to be achieved in this research is to determine the effectiveness of the model Role Playing with puppets playing the drama material class V SD Negeri 02 Klapasawit Purbalingga as seen the interpersonal skills of children and storytelling skills and mastery learning students. Samples taken were 39 students of class VA and VB using random sampling techniques. The data in this study are obtained through observation, interviews, documentation, and testing. Based on t-test results are known interpersonal skills t hitung more than t is 8,31837471,678. Beside for the t test known tcount storytelling skills t hitung more than t tabel is 7,131491,678. The results of individual mastery learning for grade control over 65% with the highest individual learning completeness of 91% and the lowest is 73% and for the experimental class learning completeness of individuals above 65% with the highest individual learning completeness 95% and the lowest 81%. Mastery learning classical to experimental class and control class is 85% ie 96%. It is concluded that through the application of models Role Playing with a puppet play can achieve mastery learning. Furthermore, the t test results can be concluded that the model Role Playing with a puppet play in learning Indonesian effectively against child interpersonal skills and storytelling skills.

Abstract

The superhero genre comics can be inspirational and demonstrate moral codes that benefit society. To ignore some of the problematic aspects of identity of the genre would prevent necessary correctives from taking place. While the portrait of female, minority, and homosexual characters has improved through time in terms of representation and nonstereotypical characterizations, the default superhero remains a white character. Minority characters that appeared in the earlier eras of American comic books were much more likely to be villains than heroes. The research describes and anaylizes the racial representations and cultural destruction of colored superheroes named Lothar and Lobo from the earliest American comics. The research argues that representations provide a template for how colored superheroes are actively disvalued and controlled regardless of their collective memory authentic to their historically complex experience. Finally, it suggests that Lothar and Lobo are rhetorically racialized to better fit with with the basic premise of supremacy concepts.

Abstract

Maju dan berkembangnya teknologi harus dimanfaatkan dengan baik dalam dunia pendidikan tanpa menghilangkan kekayaan budaya lokal. Salah satu wujud pemanfaatan tersebut adalah dengan mengembangkan media yang termasuk dalam kategori modern yang dipadukan dengan budaya lokal. Penelitian ini dilakukan guna mengembangkan media pembeljaran untuk membantu peserta didik dan pendidik dalam proses pembelajaran. Teknik analisis data yang digunakan mengarah pada proses menyeleksi, memfokuskan, menyederhanakan, mentransformasikan data, dan merespon data mentah yang ada di lapangan. Penilian rata-rata ahli terhadap desain media yang dibuat sebesar 79,9 dengan kategori baik. Penelitian ini telah menghasilkan sebuah sinematisasi cerita pendek bermuatan budaya lokal berjudul “antara simbok dan mama”. Beberapa perbaikan dilakukan sesuai saran ahli, antara lain; perbaikan cover dan wadah VCD, perbaikan pemain, perbaikan ilustrasi musik.Technological advanced and development must be put to good use in education without losing the richness of local cultures. One form of such utilization is to develop media that are included in the category of modern, combined with the local culture. This research was conducted to develop learning media to assist learners and educators in the learning process. Data analysis techniques used lead to the process of selecting, focusing, simplifying, transforming data, and responding to the raw data in the field. Expertsscored the media design made 79.9 with good categories. This research has produced a cinematization of short story with local cultural contententitled "between simbok and mama". Several improvements were made on the advice of experts, they are; VCD cover and container repair, repair the player, repair musical illustration.

Abstract

Cerita silat ADM menceritakan masalah seputar berdirinya dinasti Mataram mulai dari peperangan antara  Pajang dengan Jipang, runtuhnya Pajang, sampai pada berdirinya kerajaan Mataram. Kebanyakan para tokoh ADM dapat ditemukan dalam cerita babad Tanah Jawi. Berdasarkan pada penelitian intertekstual dapat ditemukan bahwa (1) cerita silat ADM ditulis berdasar cerita babad BTJ, (2) cerita silat ADM merupakan cerita babad Mataram modern, (3) cerita silkat ADM berfungsi melegitimasi kekuasaan panembahan Senapati. The silat story ADM tells about story of establishing  Mataram dynasty beginning from Pajang-Jipang confrontation, the falling of Pajang, and establishing of Mataram dynasty. Most of Characters are similarly to Babad story- a Javanese historiography.  Based on intertextuallity research, some elements of the text can be found. There are: (1) the silat story of ADM is composed based on Javanese historiography (BTJ), (2) the silat story of ADM is the modern historiographyof Mataram. (3) the silat story of ADM legitimates of Panembahan Senapati outhority.

Abstract

AbstrakPenelitian ini merupakan penelitian kualitatif dengan paradigma kritis bertujuan untuk menganalisis puisi “Kembalikan Indonesia Padaku” karya Taufik Ismail untuk mengetahui hubungan antara teks dan faktor yang berada di luar teks. Data penelitian diperoleh dari studi pustaka dan penelusuran internet. Hasil penelitian meliputi tiga dimensi analisis wacana kritis model Van Dijk: Pada struktur makro puisi bertemakan kekecewaan dan harapan akan perubahan negara yang tengah terpuruk, serta keberanian yang ada di dalam generasi sebuah bangsa adalah salah satu jalan untuk menciptakan masa depan sebuah negara yang lebih baik. Suprastruktur, skema teks pada puisi “Kembalikan Indonesia Padaku”  dibuat dengan kisah Indonesia pada saat itu masih karut-marut.  Struktur mikro yang terdapat latar, detail, maksud, diksi, dan metafora. Kognisi sosial yang membahas Indonesia yang ‘sekarat’ terbukti dengan penggunaan kata tenggelam; mulut menganga; lampu menyala bergantian. Syair-syairnya adalah gambaran Indonesia yang sedang ‘dipinjam’ atau ‘dikuasai’ oleh orang lain, sehingga meminta untuk dikembalikan padaku. Terakhir yaitu analisis sosial mengamanatkan agar masyarakat Indonesia dengan semangat nasionalisme melakukan perubahan kearah yang lebih baik nantinya dan pemerintah lebih peduli lagi terhadap negaranya. Abstract  This research is a qualitative research with a critical paradigm aimed at analyzing the poem “Kembalikan Indonesia Padaku” by Taufik Ismail to find out the relationship between text and factors outside the text. Research data was obtained from literature studies and internet searches. The results of the research cover three dimensions of Van Dijk's model of critical discourse analysis: On the macro structure of poetry with the theme of disappointment and hope for a deteriorating state, and courage in the generation of a nation is one way to create a better future for a country. The Superstructure, the text scheme in the poem “Kembalikan Indonesia Padaku” made with the Indonesian story at the time was still chaotic. Micro structure that contains background, detail, purpose, diction, and metaphor. Social cognition that discusses 'dying' Indonesia is proven by the use of the word drown; mouth gaping; lights turn alternately. The poems are a picture of Indonesia that is being 'borrowed' or 'mastered' by others, so that it is asked to be returned to me. Finally, social analysis mandates that the Indonesian people with a spirit of nationalism make changes towards a better direction later and the government cares more about their country.

Abstract

Jargon adalah kosakata khusus yang digunakan dalam setiap bidang kehidupan, keahlian, dan lingkunganpekerjaan yang tidak dimengerti kelompok lain. Masyarakat nelayan di Rembang dalam komunikasi sehariharimenggunakan jargon, tetapi, mereka tanpa sadari kadang-kadang menggunakan jargon dengan orangdi luar kelompoknya sehingga lawan tutur mereka tidak paham. Permasalahan dalam penelitian ini adalahbentuk jargon apa sajakah yang digunakan oleh masyarakat nelayan di Rembang dan faktor-faktor apasajakah yang menyebabkan jargon digunakan oleh masyarakat nelayan di Rembang , Data penelitian iniberupa wacana dialog masyarakat nelayan di Rembang yang di dalamnya diduga mengandung jargon. Datadikumpulkan dengan teknik wawancara dan perekaman. Data dianalisis dengan menggunakan metodenormatif dan metode etnografi komunikasi digunakan untuk mengidentifikasi faktor penyebab jargondigunakan. Hasil penelitian yang diperoleh dari penelitian ini adalah sebagai berikut. Jargon yang digunakanmasyarakat nelayan di Rembang ada yang berbentuk kata tunggal dan kata kompleks, frasa, serta ada yangberbentuk singkatan dan akronim. Faktor yang mentebabkan jargon digunakan, yaitu faktor kebiasaan yangturun temurun dan faktor keinginan masyarakat untuk menunjukkan identitas kelopoknya. Sesuai denganpenelitian ini, saran yang disampaikan adalah (1) bagi masyarakat luar yang ingin berhubungan secaraefektif dengan masyarakat nelayan tersebut harus memahami jargon itu. Diharapkan masyarakat luarmempelajari jargon di sana, (2) situasi kebahasaan dalam masyarakat nelayan dengan segala keunikan dilingkungan mereka ini masih memungkinkan untuk dikaji dari berbagai sudut pandang keilmuan, tidak hanyadari linguistik saja, tetapi dari sudut pandang ilmu lain misalnya ilmu antropologi untuk memperoleh deskripsikeebudayaan pada masyarakat tuturannya secara sistematis dan mendalam.Kata Kunci: bentuk, faktor penyebab jargon, dan masyarakat nelayan

Abstract

The relation between India and Indonesia is not new and it had dated back to the ancient period which is quite evident from the architectural remnants in Indonesia. The Indian traders had sailed through the South East Asian Nations and also been said to be spread of Sanskrit language in Indonesia. Not only that both Hinduism and Buddhism had been said to be spread from India to Indonesia. India had always shared a cordial relation with Indonesia, from the ancient period till the present days. Both had undergone a similar phrase of colonial rule and India had always supported Indonesia in her freedom struggle also during the Cold War era, both have followed the policy of Non Alignment of not joining any of the power blocs. The relation had grown since the end of the Cold War as India had started its’ Look East Policy (LEP) in 90’s to enhance its ties with its South East Asian neighbors. India has several ties and cooperation with Indonesia including economic, culture, defense, science and technology, environment etc. The ties have also enhanced during the recent years after India have adopted its Act East Policy (AEP). This policy have aim to foster growth through more cooperation and involvement in each other growth and development.Hubungan antara India dan Indonesia bukanlah hal baru dan telah kembali ke periode kuno yang cukup nyata dari sisa-sisa arsitektur di Indonesia. Pedagang India telah berlayar melewati negara-negara Asia Tenggara dan juga dikatakan menyebarkan bahasa Sanskerta di Indonesia. Tidak hanya agama Hindu dan Budha yang telah disebarkan dari India ke Indonesia. India selalu berbagi hubungan baik dengan Indonesia, dari periode kuno sampai sekarang. Keduanya telah mengalami perubahan yang sama dengan pemerintahan kolonial dan India selalu mendukung Indonesia dalam perjuangan kebebasannya selama era Perang Dingin, juga telah mengikuti kebijakan Non Alignment untuk tidak bergabung dengan blok kekuasaan manapun. Hubungan tersebut telah berkembang sejak berakhirnya Perang Dingin karena India telah memulai Look East Policy (LEP) atau Kebangkitan Bangsa Timur di tahun 90-an untuk meningkatkan hubungannya dengan negara-negara Asia Tenggara. India memiliki beberapa ikatan dan kerja sama dengan Indonesia termasuk ekonomi, budaya, pertahanan, sains dan teknologi, lingkungan dan lain-lain. Hubungan tersebut juga meningkat dalam beberapa tahun terakhir setelah India menerapkan Act East Policy (AEP) atau Kebijakan Pergerakan Timur. Kebijakan ini bertujuan untuk mendorong pertumbuhan melalui kerja sama dan keterlibatan dalam pertumbuhan dan perkembangan masingmasing.

Abstract

Pertimbangan status bahasa Inggris sebagai bahasa global membuat bahasa tersebut dihargai di seluruh dunia, serta banyak orang yang inginmempelajarinya sampai pada tingkat kemahiran tertentu. Namun, sama halnya belajar bahasa lain bahwa belajar bahasa Inggris bukan hal yang mudah, seperti yang saya buktikan dari pengalaman mengajar ketika di Indonesia dan Jepang. Berdasarkan pengamatan sebagai bukti anekdot, ada beberapa pertimbangan topik yang sangat spesifik yaitu kata ganti orang ketiga tunggal dan menganalisis tantangan yang muncul pada saat saya mengajar topik tersebut bagi siswa-siswa asing ketika berada di Indonesia dan JepangWith English’s status as a global language, learning the language has become increasingly important with language fluency highly valued and prized around the world. However, as is the case with learning any other language, learning English is not an easy task, as can be attested to based on my teaching experiences in Indonesia and Japan. Drawing upon observations as anecdotal evidence, I consider a very specific topic - namely, singular third personal pronouns - and analyze the specific set of unique challenges that my Indonesian and Japanese students face with this part of speech.
