Abstract

The mechanical properties of Fe97,91Mn1,60C0,41 steel alloy have improved, especially hardness after been subjected to various quenching media. Samples were heated at austenite temperature 800oC and 2 hours holding time, then quenched in water, oil, and salt water. The microstructures obtained were used to explain the results using optical microscope. Crystal structure and hardness were studied using X-Ray Diffractometer and Brinell Hardness Test. The hardness values of the quenched samples were 375 HB in salt water media, 257 HB in water media, and 231 HB in oil media. Crystal transformation from FCC -austenit to BCT α-martensit were observed in optical microscope and 2 peak values of XRD test result.

Abstract

Healthy internet is a human activity that access to the public network that the Internet is done in an orderly manner, good, and ethical in accordance with norms and rules that apply in the community. Healthy internet usage is also by not doing unlawful internet activity, one of them is accessing illegal content (adult website). Currently, the use of Internet technology in the home environment has been very developed, with the ease that given the use of the Internet will be increasing. The problem is how to create a healthy internet environment by not accessing adult website links so that it can be protected from the access of children under age in the neighborhood. To maintain the activities of Internet use at home, then made an application that serves to monitoring the access to the Internet, especially to block the activities of accessing illegal content. This application is made by implementing Squid by way of doing filtering to access web. The results of this study is an application that can be used to monitor the Internet access at home. So it can create a healthy internet environment at home.

Abstract

Mortality rate by heart disease in Indonesia is up to 26%. To prevent the higher of mortality rate by heart disease, an early examination for heart can be done by taking the record of electrocardiograph. The record was analyzed to know the heart rhythm that can be indication of heart disorder. By applying the warning of heart disorder, the heart condition and the treatment can be known rapidly. Electrocardiography record can be done in a short time, i.e. for 5 minutes (short term). Analyzing method in the time domain is the simplest way to analyze the variation of the heart rate. Analyzing in the time domain for R interval and the heart rate can be done by histogram and statistical analysis. Measurement method in the time domain is divided into two parts statistically, i.e. directly measurement for normal condition in R interval or the heart rate include the average value, and the standard deviation. The wavelet method was used in the QRS detection method in this research. Wavelet was designed to signal data processing, data filtering, thresholding, and histogram, to acquire the average of QRS wave, and its deviation standard. The benefit of the wavelet method can obtained the negative deflection value for Q wave with the amplitude 25% of R wave, R wave obtained positive deflection with the amplitude 1,6 – 3 mV, and negative deflection for S wave has the amplitude between 0,1 mV up to 0,5 mV.

Abstract

The destination of this research was to determine the effect of rotational speed on the characteristics of fatigue in centrifugal casting alloy A356 aluminum alloy two-wheeled vehicle with a low round and 350 RPM and 550 RPM middle rounds. The casting in this research using a centrifugal casting method. The material used is a cast aluminum alloy A356. Variations rounds used in centrifugal casting is 350 and 550 RPM. Casting process carried out by pre-heating the mold 2500oC, 7500oC casting temperature and with the addition of titanium boron grain refiner 12:08%. Results foundry then made specimen for rotary bending fatigue test in accordance with JIS Z 2274 standard 1. The examination has been done is the rotary bending fatigue test. The examination results showed that the wheels with a round 0 RPM produces a voltage amplitude relationship with the number of cycles σa = 350 RPM rotation have a relationship with the voltage amplitude and at 550 RPM rotation have a relationship with the voltage amplitude.

Abstract

The objectives of this research are: 1. understanding the characteristics of propylene glycol as desiccant  by manipulating the air volumetric flow rate and propylene glycol volumetric flow rate as desiccant. 2. calculating the optimum operating point of absorption of propylene glycol desiccant at air dryer machine. Theoretically absorption ability of a desiccant  is limited by the ability of the maximum absorbance that  reached when the equilibrium with the surrounding air or saturated conditions is reached. The results indicate that the effect of absorption varies proportionally with volumetric flow rate of desiccant and has a certain optimum point with the volumetric flow rate of air that dried. In this study used two dimensionless scale, i.e. : 1. Coefficient of Absorption (abbreviated AC ).

Abstract

PID controller is a controller which commonly used in industrial world. The importance of  PID controller design is the ability to determine controller parameter or tuning. In this research, Direct Synthesis tuning method will be discussed.Generally, PLC is used as sequence regulator device. PLC also can be used as digital PID controller by using ASCII module (Omron) which has ability to adopt BASIC language programming. Direct Synthesis can be implemented by integrating PLC as PID controller with DC motor as a plant. Result shows that Direct Synthesis tuning method increase plant performance significantly. Keywords : PID controller, tuning, PLC

Abstract

Inorganic materials (such as silica and alumina) is a material that is very important and the most desirable in the field of membrane technology. This is due to the physical characteristics and permeation properties owned by the two materials is much better when compared to other polymerbased material. Alumina, for example, this material mostly can be found in clay, and the price is much cheaper as well as easy to find if compared to silica material. The use of peat clay as raw material to produce alumina as membranes support from natural materials would save production costs. This material is also easy to find in South Kalimantan especially around the wetland areas. The aim of this study is to characterize the peat clay as raw material to fabricate membranes module (membranes support). The method is by drying the clay material in uniform particle size (monosize). The raw material powder is then mixed with the organic additives. This organic content provide the hydrophilicity and prorosity agent. Furthermore, it then was calcined and characterized to determine the functional group of the material weather it is more hydrophilicity and porosity. The result shows that the addition of H2O and starch content of functional groups affect the content of the Si-O-Si and Si-O-Al groups on clay material. The content of Si-O-Si and Si-O-Al decreases if content of H2O and starch is higher. It is shown that the streching the Si-OH groups that are more hydrophilic transform into Si-O-Si and Si-O-Al groups that are more hydrophobic. Therefore, the calcined material will be more hydrophobic and more porous.

Abstract

The composition of the turmeric plant consists of a root, rhizome, pseudostem, stem leaf, leaves, flower stalks and flowers.Chemical substances contained in turmeric is essential oil, starch, fiber and ash. Turmeric chemical content will be higher if it comes from the lowland compared with turmeric, which comes from the highlands.Curcumin is coloring agentto orange yellow crystalline, insoluble in ether, soluble in oils, alkali maroon, while the bright yellow acid. pH indicator is an organic acid or base having one color if the hydrogen concentration is higher than at a certain price and a color if the concentration was lower. The analysis shows that the optimum extraction temperature is 70 0C, with the extraction time of 120 minutes, the particle size of 100 mesh.Concentration yield is curcumin produced 5.158 mg / L. The cost efficiency of the use of curcumin indicator reached 27,7%.

Abstract

At present the pineapple plant is widely cultivated in some regions of Indonesia. Nevertheless the plantation of pineapple plants are commonly utilised only for fruit. This paper aim to represent the another benefit of pineaple plants which can be utilised their abundant pineaple leafs to be used for the textile material, known as pineapple leaf fibres. This subject consist of a review of investigation carried out on the method of  making pineapple leaf fibres such as decortication and degumming pocesses, some properties of pineapple leaf fibres, and their appropriateness for manufacturing of textiles as yarns or fabrics. An relation of the possible use of pineapple leaf fibres as related products  is also given. Keywords: pineapple leaf fibres, decortication, and degumming process.

Abstract

Edible film are plastics which can be degraded by microorgaisms and is made from renewable materials. Plastics film is made from cassava starch. Plasticizer used is sorbitol and glycerol. The purposes of this research is to determine the effect of plasticizer variation and starch weight on the characteristics of cassava starch plastic films. Cassava starch weight variation are 1,75 g, 2 g, 2,25 g at sorbitol and 3 g, 3,5 g, 4 g at glycerol and glycerol variations are 1,5 ml, 1,75 ml, and 2 ml and sorbitol variations are 1,5 g, 1,75 g, and 2 g. The reseach results showed that the interactions between starch and plasticizers are significantly effect on tensile strength and elongation of the edible film while the starch cassava weight is significantly effect on the thickness of the edible film. Tensile strength of plastic film are decreased with increasing glycerol volume sorbitol weight. While elongation of plastic film rised with increasing glycerol volume and sorbitol weight. Thickness of plastic film is increase with increasing starch weight.
