Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this research were to find out: (1) which learning model of the TTW, TPS or conventional learning results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics; (2) which students with learning difficulties (low, medium or high) have a better learning achievement in Mathematics; (3) in each students learning difficulties, which learning model of TTW, TPS or conventional learning results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics; and (4) in each learning model, which students learning difficulties (low, medium or high) results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics.This research used the quasi experimental research method with the factorial design of 3x3. Its population was all of the students in Grade X of State Senior High Schools in Magetan regency. The samples of the research were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique. The samples of the researh consisted of 232 students; 82 students belonged to experiment class one, 78 students belonged to experiment class two and 72 students belonged to control class. The data of the research were gathered through multiple choice test of learning achievement and questionnaire of students learning difficulties. The data of the research were analyzed by using the unbalanced two-way analysis of variance at the significance level of 5%. The results of the research showed that: (1) the TTW and TPS learning models result in the same good achievement in mathematics, the TTW and conventional result in the same good achievement, but TPS result in better than the conventional learning model; (2) The students with low learning difficulties result in better than with the high learning difficulties, the students with the low learning difficulties result in the same good with the medium learning difficulties, the students with the medium learning difficulties result in the same good with the students with high learning difficulties; (3) ) in each students learning difficulties, the TTW and TPS result in the same good learning achievement in mathematics, TTW and conventional result in the same good learning achievement in mathematics, TPS learning model result in  better learning achievement than conventional; (4) in each learning model, the student with low learning difficulties result in  better learning achievement than with high learning difficulties, the students with low learning difficulties result in the same good learning achievement with the medium learning difficulties, that with medium learning difficulties result in the same good learning achievement with the high learning difficulties.Keywords: learning model, TTW, TPS, conventional, students learning diffulties.

Abstract

Abstract: This research aimed to know: (1) which one of the learning models gave a better achievement between problem based instruction, reciprocal teaching, or conventional, (2) which one of the students with types of learning style had a better achievement between students with visual, auditory, or kinesthetic, (3) at each learning style types, which one of the learning models gave a better achievement between problem based instruction, reciprocal teaching, or conventional, (4) at each the learning models, which one of the students with types of learning style had a better achievement between students with visual, auditory, or kinesthetic. The population of the research was the eighth class students of Junior High School at Wonogiri regency on academic year 2013/2014 and the sample was students from SMP Negeri 1 Slogohimo, SMP Negeri 1 Jatipurno and SMP Negeri 4 Jatisrono which was taken by using stratified cluster random sampling technique. This was a quasi-experimental research with a 3x3 factorial design. The data analysis technique used was unbalanced two ways analysis of variance. Based on the data analysis, it was concluded as follows. 1) Problem based instruction gave better achievement than reciprocal teaching, conventional gave the same achievement as problem based instruction and reciprocal teaching, 2) The students with visual had better achievement than the students with auditory and kinesthetic, the students with auditory had better achievement than students with kinesthetic, 3) At the students with visual, reciprocal teaching gave the same achievement as problem based instruction and conventional, problem based instruction gave better achievement than conventional. At the students with auditory, problem based instruction gave better achievement than reciprocal teaching, conventional gave better achievement than reciprocal teaching and gave the same achievement as problem based instruction. At the students with kinesthetic, problem based instruction gave the same achievement as reciprocal teaching and conventional, 4) In reciprocal teaching, the students with visual had better achievement than the students with auditory, the students with kinesthetic had the same achievement as the students with visual and auditory. In problem based instruction, the students with visual had the same achievement as the students with auditory and had better achievement than the students with kinesthetic, the students with auditory had better achievement than the students with kinesthetic. In conventional model, the students with visual had the same achievement as the students with auditory and kinesthetic.Keywords: Problem Based Instruction, Reciprocal Teaching, Learning Style, Achievement.

Abstract

Abstract: The objectives of this research was to investigate the effect of the learning models on the learning achievement in Mathematics viewed from the spatial ability of the students. The learning models compared were the cooperative learning model of the TAI type, the cooperative learning model of the TGT type, and the direct learning model. This research used the quasi experimental research method with the factorial design of 3 x 3. Its population was all of the students in Grade VIII of Islamic State Junior Secondary Schools of Ngawi regency. The samples of the research consisted of 336 students from Islamic State Junior Secondary School of Paron, Islamic State Junior Secondary School of Ngawi, and Islamic State Junior Secondary School of Geneng. They were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique. The instruments to gather the data of the research were test of learning achievement in Mathematics and test of spatial ability. The proposed hypotheses of the research were tested by using the two-way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The results of the research were as follows. 1) The cooperative learning model of the TAI type results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the cooperative learning model of the TGT type and the direct learning model, and the cooperative learning model of the TGT type results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the direct learning model. 2) The learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the high spatial ability was better than that of the students with the moderate and low spatial abilities, and the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the moderate spatial ability was better than that of the students with the low spatial ability. 3) There was an interaction the aforementioned learning models and the categories of the spatial ability on the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students.Keywords: TAI, TGT, and spatial ability.

Abstract

Abstract: This research is aimed to describe: (1) student’s thinking  process with high emotional quotient in solving mathematics problem based on Polya’s step, (2) student’s thinking  process with middle emotional quotient in solving mathematics problem based on Polya’s steps, and (3) student’s thinking  process with high emotional quotient in solving mathematics problem based on Polya’s step. This research was a qualitative research. The subject of this research was taken by using purposive sampling. The subject of this research were nine of 8th grade students at SMP Al Azhar Syifa Budi Solo, consisting of three students with high emotional quotient, three students with middle emotional quotient, and three students with low emotional quotient. The techniques of collecting the data in this research were questionnaire, test, and interview. The techniques of validating the data were time triangulation. The techniques of analyzing the data was Miles and Huberman concept, namely, data reduction, data presentation, and conclusion drawing. This research finally provide the student’s thinking process as follows.  Students with high and medium emotional quotient are: (1) able to understand the problem by using a logical thinking process to understand the problem, (2) able to construct a problem solving plan to synthesize the problem, (3) able to carry out the problem solving plan to decide and to draw up the conclusion, and (4) able to re-evaluate the answer and to draw up the conclusion.  Students with low emotional quotient are: (1) not able to understand the problem well because the can’t apply perfectly a thinking process to understand the problem, (2) not able to construct a problem solving plan to synthesize the problem, (3) not able to carry out the problem solving plan well, and (4) not able to re-evaluate the answer and to draw up the conclusion well.Keywords: thinking process, problem solving, emotional quotient

Abstract

Abstract: This research aim to find out the effect of the learning models on achievement and mathematics communication ability viewed from cognitive style. The learning models compared were the cooperative learning of TPS type with AfL, cooperative learning of TPS type, and the direct learning mode. The research was quasi experimental. The population was all students of grade VII State Junior High School in Surakarta City. Sampling was done by stratified cluster random sampling technique. The hypothesis test used unbalanced two ways multivariat analysis of variance. The results of the research were as follows. (1) The cooperative learning model of TPS type with AfL gives better achievement and mathematics communication ability than the cooperative learning model of TPS type and the direct learning model, and the cooperative learning model of TPS type gives better achievement and mathematics communication ability than the direct learning model. (2) Students with the FI cognitive style had better achievement than students with the FD cognitive style, while students with the FI cognitive style had the same mathematics communication ability as students with the FD cognitive style. (3) On FD cognitive style and FI cognitive style, the cooperative learning model of TPS type with AfL gives a better achievement than the cooperative learning model of TPS type and the direct learning model, and the cooperative learning model of TPS type gives a better achievement than the direct learning model. On FD cognitive style, the cooperative learning model of TPS type with AfL, the cooperative learning model of TPS type, and the direct learning model gives the same mathematics communication ability. On FI cognitive style, the cooperative learning model of TPS type with AfL gives the same mathematics communication ability as the cooperative learning model of TPS type, and the cooperative learning model of TPS type with AfL and the cooperative learning model of TPS type gives a better mathematics communication ability than the direct learning model. (4) On the cooperative learning model of TPS type with AfL, the cooperative learning model of TPS type and the direct learning model, students with the FI cognitive style had better achievement than students with the FD cognitive style. On the cooperative learning model of TPS type with AfL, the cooperative learning model of TPS type and the direct learning model, students with the FI cognitive style and FD cognitive style had the same mathematics communication ability.Keywords: TPS, AfL, cognitive style, mathematics achievement, mathematics communication ability.

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of the learning models on the learning achievement in Mathematics viewed from the learning activity of the students. This research used the quasi experimental research with the factorial design of 3x3. Its population was all of the students in Grade VIII of  State Junior Secondary Schools of Sleman Regency in Academic Year 2013/2014. The samples of the research were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique and consisted of 254 students. Balance test used one way ANOVA test. The prerequisite test of the research included normality test with Lilliefors’ method and homogeneity test with Bartlett’s method of Chi Square test. With the significance level of α = 0.05. The data was analyzed by using the two way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The results of the research are as follows: 1) the Two Stay Two Stray learning model results in the same good learning achievement in Mathematics as the direct learning model, and the Two Stay Two Stray with Realistic Mathematics Approach learning model results in a better than  the Two Stay Two Stray learning model and direct learning model, 2) the students with the high learning activity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with moderate and low learning activities, and the students with the moderate learning activity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the low learning activity, 3) there is an intereaction the aforementioned learning models and the categories of the learning activity on the learning achievement in Mathematics of the student.Keyword: Realistic Mathematics Approach, Two Stay Two Stray (TS-TS), Learning Activity

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was to investigate the effect of the learning models on learning achievement in mathematics viewed from self regulated learning. The learning models compared were cooperative learning model of the NHT type by using realistic mathematics approach, TSTS type by using realistic mathematics approach and the conventional learning model. The type of the research was a quasi experimental research. The population was all of the students in grade VIII of State Junior Secondary Schools of district of Eastern Lombok in academic year 2013/2014. The size of the sample was 308 students consisted of 104 in experimental class 1, 104 in experimental class 2, and 100 in control class. The instruments used were mathematics achievement test on the topic of geometry and questionnaire of self regulated learning. The data was analyzed by using two way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The conclusions of the research were as follows. (1) The cooperative learning model of the NHT type with the realistic mathematics approach resulted in alearning achievement equally well as the cooperative learning model of the TSTS type with realistic mathematics approach. The cooperative learning model of the NHT type and the cooperative learning model of the TSTS type with realistic mathematics approach provided better learning achievement than the conventional learning, (2) The students with the high self regulated learning had a better learning achievement in mathematics than those with the moderate and low self regulated learning categories, and the students with the moderate self regulated learning had a better learning achievement in mathematics than those with the low self regulated learning, (3) There was an interaction among learning models and the catagories of self regulated learning on learning achievement in mathematics.Keywords: NHT, TSTS, realistic mathematics approach, self regulated learning.

Abstract

Abstract: The purposes of this study were: (1) to develop a valid interactive multimedia learning as a source of student learning in understanding the topic of Cuboid of eight grade students; and (2) to know the effectiveness of learning interactive multimedia products which had been developed. This research was a development study using Borg & Gall model where the steps as follows: (1) preliminary study that consisted of literature study and field study; (2) development that consisted of purpose analysis, capability analysis, development design; (3) field test that consisted of limited field test, wider field test and operational test; (4) effectiveness test; (5) dissemination. The research population was all eight grade students of SMPN 2 Ponorogo.The sample was taken using cluster random sampling. Data were collected in the form of even UTS value 2013/2014 in mathematics subject used documentation method the validity of product used questionnaire method, the learning results in mathematics used test method. The validity of the developed interactive multimedia product used content validity by material expert and media expert.The validity of test item was determined by: (1) content validity; (2) discrimination power; (3) difficulty level; (4) reliability. The normality test used Lilliefors method and homogeneity of variance test used Bartlett method. The balanced and the hypothesis test used t-test statistic. The results of this study were as follows: (1) a valid interactive multimedia learning as a source of student learning in understanding mathematics of eight grade students of SMP especially Cuboid; (2) the result of effectiveness test showed that the mathematics learning results of students who used interactive multimedia were better than students who did not use interactive multimedia learning.Keywords:  Development, Interactive Multimedia, Interactive Multimedia Learning

Abstract

Abstract: The aims of this research were to know: (1) which one of the learning model gave a better achievement between of the TAI assisted by adobe flash 8.0, TAI, and conventional; (2) which one of the students with students learning motivation categories had a better achievement between students with high, moderate or low learning motivation; (3) in each the students learning motivation categories, which one of the learning models gave a better achievement in mathematics between TAI assisted by adobe flash 8.0, TAI, or conventional; (4) in each the learning models, which one of the students learning motivation had a better achievement in mathematics between the students with high, moderate, or low students learning motivation.The type of the research was a quasi experimental research method. The population of the research was the seventh class students of State Junior Secondary School at Sukoharjo regency in Academic Year 2013/2014. They were taken by using the stratified cluster random sampling technique. The instruments used to gather the data of the research were test of learning achievement in Mathematics and questionnaire of  the students learning motivation. The data analysis technique used was unbalanced two ways analysis of variance. Based on the data analysis, it was concluded as follows. 1) TAI assisted by adobe flash 8.0 results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than TAI and conventional, the TAI model results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than conventional. 2) The students with the high  learning motivation had the same achievement as the students with moderate learning motivation, the students with the moderate learning motivation had the same achievement as the students with low learning motivation and the students with the high learning motivation had a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the students with low learning motivation. 3) In each students learning motivation, the TAI assisted by adobe flash 8.0 results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than TAI and conventional, the TAI model results in a better learning achievement in Mathematics than conventional. 4) In each learning model, the students with the high  learning motivation had the same achievement as the students with moderate learning motivation, the students with the moderate learning motivation had the same achievement as the students with low learning motivation and the students with the high learning motivation had a better learning achievement in Mathematics than the students with low  learning motivation.Keywords: Team Assisted Individualization model, Adobe Flash 8.0, and students learning motivation.

Abstract

Abstract: The objective of this research was investigate the effect of learning models on mathematics achievement viewed from the mathematics learning Creativities. This research used the quasi experimental research with the factorial design of 3 x 3. Its population was all of the students in Grade VIII of State Junior Secondary Schools of Mesuji regency. The samples were State Junior Secondary School 1 of East Mesuji, State Junior Secondary School 1 of Way Serdang and State Junior Secondary School 1 of Simpang Pematang The instruments used to gather the data of the research were test of learning achievement in Mathematics and questionnaire of Mathematics learning creativity of the students The proposed hypotheses of the research were tested by using the two-way analysis of variance with unbalanced cells. The results of the research are as follows: 1) The students instructed with the Learning Cycle 7E model with the problem posing have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those instructed with the Learning Cycle 7E model and the direct learning model. In addition, the students instructed with the Learning Cycle 7E model have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those instructed with the direct learning model. 2) The students with the high Mathematics learning creativity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the moderate and low Mathematics learning creativities, and the students with the moderate Mathematics learning creativity have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those with the low Mathematics learning creativity. 3) In the Learning Cycle 7E model with problem-posing, the Learning Cycle 7E model, and the direct learning model, the learning achievement in Mathematics of the students with the high Mathematics learning creativity is better than those of the students with the moderate and low Mathematics learning creativities. And the learning achievement of the students with the moderate Mathematics learning creativity is better than that of the students with the low Mathematics learning creativity. 4) In the high, moderate, and low Mathematics learning creativities, the students instructed with the Learning Cycle 7E model with problem-posing have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those instructed with the Learning Cycle 7E model and the direct learning model, and the students instructed with the Learning Cycle 7E model have a better learning achievement in Mathematics than those instructed with the direct learning model.Keywords: Learning Cycle 7E, problem posing, and Mathematics learning creativity
