Abstract

The objective of this study was to examine the empirical relationship between finan¬cial and international trade liberalisation and long-run growth by using bank credit to the private sector as an indicator of financial liberalisation, and export plus import values as an indicator of international trade liberalisation. It argues that these indicators have a clear advantage over economic growth in Indonesia during 1970-2002. This study applies the en¬dogenous growth model and error correction model. It explores the joint impact of both fi¬nancial and international trade liberalisation and the impact of investment in physical and human capital on the growth of real income. The main findings are as follows: First, in short run, the study finds its measure of international liberalisation, physical and human capital investment to have a significantly positive effect on the economic growth, and it measure of financial liberalisation has no significantly positive effect on the economic growth. Second, in long run, except human capital investment, it finds the impact of physical capital invest¬ment, financial and international trade liberalisation on economic growth to be consistent with long-run growth theory. Keywords:    Endogenous Economic Growth; Financial and International Trade Liberalisa¬tion; Error Correction Model.

Abstract

Rational Expectation (Ratex) Hypothesis has been widely spread, even became the foundation of Neo Classic though. But the validity of this hypothesis is still being debated. Since the hypothesis has a serious implication, in neutrality of economic policy, more investigation is important to do. This article evaluates whether the hypothesis is contextual to Indonesian economy or not. By taking note of the last development of the model and using two different money scale, i.e. Ml and M2, it finds an indication that rationality and neutrality are not shown in Indonesian economy, it means monetary policy has an effect on real variable in the economy.

Abstract

Abstract

This study aims to analyze and identify the impact of change in tourist expenditure towards the household incomes. The data used in this study was secondary one, especially from the Sistem Neraca Sosial Ekonomi (SNSE) Table of Indonesia in 1999 and from tourist expenditure data. The problems appeared in this study were analyzed by using Structural Path Analysis (SPA).The results of the study show that the change in tourist expenditure in Indonesia, most influence the upper household class in urban area in 1999. The change in tourist expenditure most influence non-farm household. Since higher proportion of tourist expenditure is spent to buy non-agriculture products. The urban household receives the influence of change in tourist expenditure more than the rural household. Thus, it is suggested that the government should put emphasis in developing rural tourism by promoting tourism based on agriculture and rural life. Keywords: tourist expenditure, household income, SNSE, Structural Path Analysis (SPA).
