Abstract

Title : The Study of Land Capability on Tobacco-Based Upland Farming at Progo Hulu Sub-Watershed. The recent and also the future problems for Indonesian concerning with agricultural environment resources are land degradation and water resources restrictiveness. Agricultural technique without awareness to concerning to soil and water conservation principles on steep and high rainfall area had caused severe erosion and land degradation at upland area of Progo Hulu sub-watershed. Land Degradation that promoted by erosion at Progo Hulu sub-watershed contributed negative effects at on-site and out-site area. The land capability analysis shows that tobacco-based farming system at Progo Hulu sub watershed dominated by class IV (3,624.93 ha; 49.00%), followed with class VI (2,488.82 ha; 33.64%), class III (697.99 ha; 9.43%), class V (450.73 ha; 6.09%), and class VII (136.06 ha; 1.84%). The main resistance factors are slope and erosion for class III; erosion, slope and surface rocks for class VI; and slope for class VII. Keywords: land capability, Progo Hulu Sub-watershed

Abstract

Efficiency of P Fertilizer at Sandy Paddy Soil of South Yogyakarta That were Added Zeolite with Rice (Oryza sativa L.) as Plant Indicator. The aim of this research were to study the efficiency of P fertilizer at sandy paddy soil of South Yogyakarta that were added zeolite with rice as plant indicator and to know treatment combination which give the highest yield of rice plant (Oryza sativa L.). This research were conducted in February 2007 to June 2007at paddy soil in Siliran V, Karangsewu, Galur, Kulonprogo Daerah Istimewa Yogyakarta. This research are field experiment. The experiment design are used Split Plot Design, as a main plot was zeolit, i.e. no zeolit and 750 kg.ha‐1 zeolite. Sub plot consist of five levels of P fertilizer, i.e. 0, 50, 100, 150, 200 kg.ha‐1 SP36. Each treatment was three replicated so there is 30 treatment plot. Data analyzed with F test, Kruskal‐Wallis test, DMRT 5% and Correlation test. The result from this research shows that added 750 kg.ha‐1 zeolit are not significant for efficiency of P absorption and Agronomic Efficiency Index. The added of SP36 fertilizer has increased significant highly efficiency of P absorption on SP36 dosage 200 kg.ha‐1 is 168.49 or can increase 127.87% in comparison with control. Interaction between 750 kg.ha‐1 zeolit and SP36 dosage 100 kg.ha‐1 (Z1P2) has highly Agronomic Efficiency Index (234.3). Interaction between zeolit and P fertilizer has not significant increased rice yield, but treatment interaction between 750 kg.ha‐1 zeolit and SP36 dosage 100 kg.ha‐1 give the highest highly unhulled paddy crop (23.61 g.plant‐1) and the highest weight 1000 unhulled paddy crop (24.33 g). Abstract

Title : The Study of Habitual Agroecosystem to Develope Agriculture Potential at Sukoharjo Regency in Central Java. The research about habitual agroecosystem to develope agriculture potential at Sukoharjo Regency in Central Java. This research conducted from June until September, 2002. The results showed that Sukoharjo Regency regional base on the Schmidt-Ferguson climate have C-climate type (slightly wet) and D (moderate), can be separate into four (4) agroecosystem, e.i wet land, dry land, mixedfarm, and forest. Wet land agroecosystem grouped into types agroecosystem with parent rock Merapi Volcano, Aluvium, Lawu ejecta, and Wonosari-Punung formation. Dry land agroecosystem grouped into types agroecosystem with parent rock Lawu ejecta, Aluvium, and Mandalika-Wonosari-Punung formation. Mixedfarm agroecosystem grouped into types agroecosystem with parent rock Lawu ejecta, and Mandalika-Wonosari-Punung formation. Whereas forest agroecosystem exist on the Wonosari-Punung formation, and it management strategy toward as community based conservation regional. Abstract

Title : Isolation of Indigenous Phosphate Solubilizing Microbia from Andisols Dieng and Its Potency as Inoculum of Phosphate Solubilizing Biofertilizer. Phosphor (P) is an essential macro nutrient that occur frequently in low availability for plant. This research aimed to find indigenous phosphate solubilizing microbia from Andisols Dieng as biofertilizer inoculum. It was conducted in UNS Soil Biology Laboratory, Faculty of Agriculture, UNS. The research was begun with an exploratory research to obtain P solubilizer isolates (PSB). Research continued by two experiment, set by a completely randomized design (CRD) with two factors: kind of isolate from Andisols Dieng and incubation time. The first experiment was conducted in temporary period in the pikovskaya liquid medium. The second experiment was conducted in vermicompost its carrier. Each treatment combination was repeated 3 times. As much as 106cell or spore was inoculated per gram of medium or vermicompost. Dissolved P , biomass or cell density, and pH at 0,1, 3 and 6 days after incubation for the pikovskaya liquid medium and at 0, 2, 4 weeks for vermicompost. The results showed that there were 4 isolates potential to be inoculums of P solubilizer biofertilizer, they were are isolates of bacteria (P1), Aspergillusniger, Fusarium sp, and Aspergillus tamarii. Aspergillus niger is the most potential inoculums as it highest viability and dissolving phosphate both in liquid media (2.83me/l), and vermicompost (36.78% ).

Abstract

Title : The Development Prediction and Differentiated Alfisols at Jatipuro Sub District of Karanganyar with Genetic Stability Model. This research had been conducted at Jatipuro, Sub district of Karanganyar from July until September, 2007. The aim of this research are to know and comparing the development of Alfisols with genetic stability model. This research was descriptive‐explorative research, and the variables approached by field’s survey and supported by laboratory analysis. The site sampling on the fields determined with soil mapping unit. Samples for physical, chemicals and sand mineralogy properties was take from representative pedon or profile from each soil mapping unit. This research uses statistical analysis stepwise regression to know which the most variable can explain the soil development, and the Eberhart‐Russell’s genetic stability model to determine the degree of soil stability for any soil mapping unit. The result of this research can be concluded that the 3rd soil mapping unit (NGEPUNGSARI series, Ultic Hapludalfs, very fine, kaolinitic, active, non acid, isohyperthermic family) was the most’s stable in soil development, and followed by 1st soil mapping unit (JATISOBO series, Vertic Hapludalfs, very fine, kaolinitic, active, non acid, isohyperthermic family). Even though, the 2nd soil mapping unit (JATISUKO series, Typic Hapludalfs, very fine, kaolinitic, active, non acid, isohyperthermic family) was the most’s unstable in soil development. Each soil mapping unit also showed the difference of soil development, that looking from the endogen and exogen’s factors can be explained. Abstract

Title : “Soil Suppresiveness” to Basal Plate Rot (Fusarium oxysporum  f. sp. cepae) of Garlic in Tawangmangu, Karanganyar. Since planting season in 2000, basal plate rot (Fusarium oxysporum f. sp. cepae) has been an important disease on garlic in Tawangmangu, Karanganyar, Central Java. More than 92 % of the garlic lands have been contaminated by the pathogen. However, there are some lands showing very mild disease incidence. The contaminated soil, in which the disease does not develop, is called suppressive soil. The phenomenon is interesting to investigate for understanding the occurrence of endemic of basal plate rot on the garlic in Tawangmangu and for developing control of the disease. The analysis results indicated that the suppressiveness of the soil was related to physical, chemical, and biological properties of the soil.
