Abstract

This article reviews the contribution of feminist theory to the understanding of individual identity and subjectivity. Feminist theory highlights that a person's identity and subjective experiences are not neutral or isolated, but are deeply influenced by social and gender position in society. This approach broadens our view of subjectivity by recognizing the diversity of individual experiences based on factors such as gender, social class, race, and sexuality. This article also examines feminist criticism of universalism in identity theory, as well as how feminism invites to see individuals as complex subjects within existing power dynamics and social structures.

SAARC, as a regional cooperation forum, faces various challenges in promoting balanced and inclusive economic integration in the region. SAARC member countries show varying levels of economic development, while infrastructure inequality and dependence on certain economic sectors are major obstacles. This article highlights efforts to increase cooperation in trade, infrastructure investment, and policy harmonization as crucial steps to address these challenges. In the complex geopolitical context of South Asia, regional policy implementation is often faced with internal political constraints and coordination among SAARC member states. The conclusion of this article emphasizes the need for close cooperation and strong commitment from all parties involved to achieve inclusive and sustainable economic growth in the SAARC region.

Abstract

This article examines the political economy dilemmas facing member states of the Southern African Development Community (SADC). SADC is a regional organization that aims to promote economic cooperation among countries in the region. However, despite the enormous potential for economic integration and development, SADC members often face complex political economic challenges. This article explores the internal and external factors influencing economic and political policies in SADC countries, as well as their impact on regionalism and development efforts.

Abstract

China is one of the countries that adheres to communist ideology just like the Soviet Union during the Cold War. The failure of the Soviet Union became a lesson for China to re-organise its national defence policies and strategies. This research aims to find out China's strategy for maintaining its country's sovereignty so that it does not experience political degradation like the Soviet Union through the Community of Common Destiny policy. This research applies qualitative research methods with literature study data analysis techniques. The Chinese foreign policy approach analyses China's strategy for maintaining its sovereignty. The results show that one of China's strategies to maintain its sovereignty is by implementing the Community of Common Destiny policy, which is manifested through the One Belt and One Road concept, which is a policy to carry out state development with other developing countries in the face of capitalist economic globalisation through defense lines on land and sea (maritime).

Abstract

Artificial Intelligence (AI) has become an important factor in crafting a country's defence strategy in the face of increasingly complex global political dynamics. This article reviews the country's efforts in applying AI in the context of defence strategy and digital politics. AI has helped countries analyse complex data, predict political changes and formulate more effective diplomacy strategies. Artificial Intelligence (AI) is now a state priority that is starting to be developed and continues to increase around the world, including as a defence effort in the military and non-military fields. This research is a type of qualitative research by applying descriptive analytical methods and literature study data analysis techniques. The findings of our research are that AI can analyse global political data from various sources. AI can be used to analyse public policy data and provide recommendations to political leaders about steps that might be taken. One of the implementations of AI in global politics is in facilitating collaboration between countries in facing global challenges by answering complex problems such as climate change, cyber security and cooperation between countries.

Abstract

Indonesia has long established cooperative and diplomatic relations with the five FPDA member countries. However, this relationship still arouses a sense of mistrust from all parties with the emergence of issues and tensions in diplomatic relations. The presence and establishment of FPDA itself is also one of the reasons to "balance Indonesia". This is a gap for better cooperation between Indonesia and FPDA member countries. The problem in this study is how the pattern of maritime defense diplomacy cooperation and Indonesia's interests towards FPDA member countries using the theory of maritime defense diplomacy as well as the concept of maritime security and national interests. This research uses qualitative methods in a descriptive-analytical manner. The results of the research that the role of multilateral cooperation in Indonesia's maritime defense diplomacy has been actively prioritized by building a sense of trust (CBM), by implementing 5 patterns of defense diplomacy to FPDA countries, Indonesia's interests in FPDA countries, namely: building FPDA trust in Indonesia, increasing cooperation in the maritime sector, reducing the issue of Papuan separatism, and maintaining ASEAN centrality.

Abstract

In recent years, fossil fuel usage and industrial activities have significantly increased, leading to higher greenhouse gas emissions and impacting global temperature, contributing to global warming and climate change. The carbon footprint measures these emissions through carbon flux rates, influenced by climate conditions, soil and water uptake, organic matter, and microbial activities. The experiment used a gas analyzer and gas chromatograph to measure samples under three conditions. The highest average flux rate was in fully enclosed vegetation (4.04 g CO2/m²/day), followed by not enclosed vegetation (4.01 g CO2/m²/day), and the lowest was 3.91 g CO2/m²/day. Results indicate that vegetation and urban parks reduce CO2 emission fluxes, with each area's vegetation state affecting soil and air temperature, pH content, and soil moisture. However, many aspects such as soil type and climate cognition can influence fluctuation of carbon fluxes in each condition.

Abstract

Retinal disease that has a major impact on human vision is diabetic retinopathy. Diabetic retinopathy is a disease caused by advanced diabetic mellitus. Early detection of the disease is very importance. An automated system that can recognize retinal blood vessel abnormalities is very useful for providing quick information to prevent further damage to the retina. In this study, we propose an automated system for segmenting the blood vessels in retinal fundus images using semantic segmentation based on pre-trained from VGG transfer learning and using median frequency balancing weights for the cross entropy loss function. The median frequency weights are to balance the importance of blood vessel and background pixels to get more accurate training results. The integration of encoder and decoder networks utilizing VGG transfer learning and semantic segmentation can segment retinal blood vessels with a sensitivity value of 85.48% using the DRIVE and STARE database.
