Abstract

The Multi Period Degree Constrained Minimum Spanning Tree Problem (MPDCMST) concerns of finding the total minimum cost of networks installation, where the installation process is divided into some periods. In the beginning of installation process, thecenter of the networks already set (as server, reservoir, etc). The installation process is divided into some period due to some factors, usually fund limitation. During the installation process, the networks is supposed to be maintained its reliability by restrict the numbers of links that can be connected to the node that already in the networks. In this paper we will discuss and improve the performance of WADR1 and WADR2 algorithms by setting the number of elements in the set of vertices that must be in installed in a certain period as a fix number and adding the length of the path in DFS. The result shows that the modifications works better.

Abstract

Education value has always been a part of urban development since the age of ancient Greece, Rome, India, and China. It is recognized as the changing factor into a civilization society. Every society in the world has at least the simplest form of education which is at home. Meanwhile many others have been utilizing this value to a greater purpose of the community through the development of education facilities. One of the education facilities that contribute substantially to the development of an urban area is higher education institute or university.According the Brundtland Commission, sustainable development is development that meets the needs of the present without compromising the ability of future generations to meet their own needs. Therefore a sustainable urban generation tool is a feature that is expected to generate the development of an urban area inorder to meet the definition above. Sustainable development has many criteria such as economy (growth of annual income), social (growth of public participation and awareness),and the most important, environment (growth of facility/infrastructure and ecological management). Japan as a country which has limited natural resources, has been experiencing aging population and declining on birthrate. Therefore in order to maintain its economic growth, Japan is using its science and technology advantages as its main generator. Meanwhile, it is acknowledged that science and technology are the outcomes of education process. So at the end of the day, education in Japan plays important roles in the development of the economy and the society. This paper aims to acknowledge the importance of education facility as sustainable urban generation tool by studying thedevelopment of the economy, social, and environment of the case study area which is the Kitakyushu Science Research and Park in Kitakyushu (Japan).

Abstract

Indonesia have a large amount of biomass wastes, either species or quantitity. If those biomass were not be treatment will be give some negative environmental impacts. To eliminate the negative impact, the biomass waste must be treatment to produce a new product with higher added value. The material utilization of biomass can mainly be categorized into the utilization of the material applying its own property, the utilization of raw material applying its composition and the utilization of it as fertilizer and feed. Convertion into fertilizer, feed, ligneous plastic, biomass mixing, biodegradable plastic are the kind of material utilizations of agriculture and forest waste

Abstract

Current research works indicated that parts of Kingdom of Saudi Arabia have low to moderate seismic regions. For structural engineers, seismic load should be considered as important aspect that needs to be included in the building design. However Major part of buildings are designed for gravity loading only and poorly detailed to accommodate lateral loads. The purpose of this paper is to investigated gravity supporting building its resistance to expected seismic loading in different regions (Makkah, Jeddah, Gizan and Haql). In this paper, a test RC building that was designed for gravity loading only is investigated. This will be accomplished by performing the nonlinear static analysis (pushover analysis) according to ATC 40. Pushover analysis produces the pushover curves, capacity spectrum, plastic hinges and performance level of the building. This analysis gives better understanding seismic performance of buildings and also traces the progression of damage or failure. The building performance level is determined by intersection of demand and capacity curves and the hinge developed in the beams and the columns. The results show that the test building is found inadequate for Haql region and it still can be considered for Makkah, Jeddah and Gizan.

Abstract

In general bending loads acting on structural elements of concrete beams are retained by the compression area on its pressured area while its drag area is being ignored. Therefore, it is reasonable if the concrete beam section on drag area is minimized with concrete mass reduction in tensile region by ignoring concrete tensile stress while receiving static loads or the area is filled with styrofoam concrete (styrocon). One effort to make efficient the concrete economic value is by reducing concrete and using styrocon thus natural material component such as sand mining, coarse aggregate, and cement and heavy construction becomes lighter. Styrofoam as waste can be used as filler to reduce the volume of concrete, especially for areas where the concrete section is not working mechanically. In an effort to study the flexural strength of concrete beams external reinforcement and composite Styrofoam filled, then a series of tests performed. Test material is in the form of blocks of 15 cm x 20 cm x 270 cm in dimension. Test material is consisted of concrete quality normal beam of  26.0 MPa with transverse reinforcement as a control of test material and the test material with external transverse reinforcement, as well as truss systems and Styrofoam filled composite. The normal-styrocon composite is beam with Styrofoam variation content. The beam is placed on 2 simple pedestal by 2 point loading method testing. The results indicated that normal concrete beam flexural strength is 36.7 kN, but the external transverse reinforcement beams decreased to 30.6 kN, but the external reinforcement beam truss system reinforcement is relatively equal to 35.8 kN. However, the beams with external reinforcement is susceptible to corrosion, fire resistant, and requires treatment. Therefore styrocon is used on the outer portion with styrofoam content of 30%, 40%, and 50% relatively having flexural strengths of 33.8 kN, 31.0 kN and 29.0 kN, respectively. It can be concluded that the use of normal-styrocon composite concrete beams can make efficient the use of natural materials of the concrete block and to reduce the weight construction as well as has environmental aspects by using the waste.

Abstract

Downstream part of the watershed is an area of lowland Sekampung with +3.00 to +4.00 elevation above sea level. Area located between the border regions of South Lampung regency and East Lampung. Originally this area was flooded reservoir area, the Swamp Sragi and surrounding areas, but along with the development of this area is used as a residential area, pertaniandan pond area for the people around the area. Padatahun 2002 River Way Sekampung experience overflow caused flooding in downstream areas which suffered losses of up to 38 billion rupiahIn this study analyzed the incidence of flooding that may occur based on rainfall data available. Based on the results of the input stream and cross sectional design flood discharge is seen that when the flood began when the river reaches flood discharge Q50-year anniversary. In this study flood control analysis performed on the three methods are: the construction of levees, making retention ponds and dredge rivers. The third input method results in HEC RAS 3.1.3 shows that building levees to reduce flooding by 32%, on a flood retention pond can be reduced up to 45% and normalization of the river is only able to reduce flooding by 20%. Most effective flood management recommendation is to build two retention ponds and technical cost reduction by flooding.
