Abstract

The economic empowerment of communities often tend to focus on the aspect of method and program, which is mostly imported and western-minded. Social capital may be opimized to make sure that the economic empowerment achieving its goals. In some conditon, the social capital philosophy of tri tangtu silih asih silih asah and silih asuh plays a significant role in ensuring the success of a community economic empowerment. This paper is a study of social system of community economic empowerment aiming on understanding the background condition of the economic empowerment of a village community with particular case of the village farmer group. Abstract

Existing zakat research, reports little information about the living conditions of Indonesian zakat recipients. This study examined the perceptions of zakat recipients at Rumah Zakat, a charitable institution, in Yogyakarta. Semi-structured interviews solicited seven economic empowerment program respondents’ narratives. This data collection method incorporating a phenomenological approach to data analysis revealed that respondents with more education and spousal support could better subsist after utilizing Rumah Zakat’s interest-free loans, and compared to individual efforts or group support, spousal support helped significantly with business growth. These respondents typically earned incomes above the national standard of poverty. As their businesses grew, four respondents planned to employ the jobless. Respondents benefiting from the program reported significant impact on their home economies and social lives.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the role of the preservation of the environment and the consciousness and social solidarity in the Rawa Pening Muslim community. The data was collected through observation and interviews with informants around Rawa Pening. In analyzing the data this research applying the Culture Theme Analisis and interpretive methods. The role of the Muslim community for the preservation of the environment seen through the activities “resik-resik rowo”(pond cleaning), do not throw plastic waste, do not use electric shock and poisons in fishing, changing litter into useful things, regularly breed the fish and do “sedekah rowo” (pond charity). the solidarity formed through the “ronda” or the night watch by turns, compassion and helping others, changing conflict into a peace, promoting honesty, and prioritize prayer time.

Abstract

Zakat in Central Java is estimated to reach Rp 9,356 trillion each year, derivedfrom zakat, infak and sedekah (ZIS) Rp 8,982 trillion and Rp 374.275 billionzakat fitrah. This is derived from the assumption that most Moslem give ZIS Rp.1 million each year. The purpose of this research is informing the meaning of zakat as recited in Surah Attaubah verse 60, how the zakat was distributed and observing the effectiveness of zakat in the relation with economic empowerment. Techniques in analyzing the data were domain, taxonomy, components and theme analysis. The finding showed that zakat distribution was dominated by consumption distribution. On the other hands productive distribution was not regards. But it is interesting to be noticed that distribution of zakat funds committed by the institutions of zakat distribution pattern dominated by the cost living in various pattern of their varieties While distribution patterns that rely on productive among the educated (scholars) are ignored by board of charity

Abstract

This study aims to identify and analyze: (a) potential sources of zakat, infak, andsedekah in Jember Regency, (b) systems and methods of fundraising, anagement,and distribution conducted by institutions of zakat, infak, and sedekah, (c)accountability of zakat, infak, and sedekah institutions, (d) the usefulness ofsuch funds to the recipient of zakat, infak, and sedekah, and (e) create a modelof revitalization of management of zakat, infak, and sadaqah institutions. Type of research is survey research by applying descriptive qualitative method. The results of this study found that management needs to revitalize institutions of zakat, infak, and sedekah as described in the Three Circles Model.

Abstract

This research was intended to know any factors that influence people using usurer and how did the BMT Taqwa Muhammadiyah helped people free from usurer in Padang. This research applying descriptive qualitative technique. The finding of this research showed that people were still using usurer in overcoming their financial problems due to (1) emergency need on business assistances, (2) quick process, simple procedure and shortherm paybak periode, (3) lack of bank and non bank access (4) they do not have any information of existing BMT, (5) depleted concern on religious believe on leaving excessive interest. Moreover the finding also found that BMT Taqwa Muhammadiyah had not yet provided significant financial assistance toward vendors.

Abstract

This research will examined the purpose and principles of the Sarekat Islameducation and the education of Sarekat Islam (SI) empowering communitie.This research is the field research with qualitative data. Method of collectingthe data through observation, documentation, interviews, and libraries research. The data analysis will in the form of reflective thinking, deduction and induction. The findings of this study shows of education embodies a true muslim and a nationalis. Educational principles of instilling a sense of nationality, democracy, courage, a simple life, uphold degrees, selfreliance, and the integration of science of religion. finally the SI has been contributing about education system which was later used in the regulation of the education system in Indonesia.

Abstract

This paper is part of research that aims to investigate whether Organisasi Pengelola Zakat (OPZ) or Zakat Management Organisations in Surakarta have the awareness to distribute zakat fund to the productive sector and to address the contribution that has been made in this sector by OPZ. This study also investigated the constraints faced by OPZ in distributing zakat to the productive sector. Using explorative approach, this study uses two stages of data collection. Results showed that the first stage, OPZ generally already have the awareness to channel to the productive sectors of the economy. Four OPZ as an informant in the second stage with in-depth interviews showed that each organization has a unique program in distributing zakat fund to the productive sector. The constraints of distribution to productive economic sectors are focus on institutions, inavailability of good distribution systems, and the lack of skilled human resource.
