Abstract

The economic empowerment of communities often tend to focus on the aspect of method and program, which is mostly imported and western-minded. Social capital may be opimized to make sure that the economic empowerment achieving its goals. In some conditon, the social capital philosophy of tri tangtu silih asih silih asah and silih asuh plays a significant role in ensuring the success of a community economic empowerment. This paper is a study of social system of community economic empowerment aiming on understanding the background condition of the economic empowerment of a village community with particular case of the village farmer group. Abstract

This study aims to uncover the polemic relationship between the Qur’an and the Hadith regarding the concept of as-sā‘ah (the end of life in the world). This phenomenon was investigated using a philosophical analysis-based qualitative research design. This study uses critical hermeneutic reading to textualize and historically contextualize the articulations of the as-sā‘ah in the al-Qur’an and Hadith. The findings suggest that the polemic was sparked by a disagreement between the al-Qur’an and Hadith narrations over the meaning of as-sā‘ah. The Qur’an only mentions it in the context of eschatology, whereas some Hadith narrations include descriptions of the end times or events that occur before the Day of Judgment (apocalyptic). The impact of meaning evolution is felt not only on a conceptual level but also on a practical level. Eschatology is limited to conveying spiritual morality messages, whereas apocalyptic is more commonly used for political propaganda that is prone to instilling violent ideas in religion. This finding has ramifications for the study of the Qur’an and Hadith, particularly in the area of examining the text and historical contexts to comprehend the relationship between the Qur’an and Hadith narrations.Keywords: As-Sā‘ah; Critical Hermeneutics; The Qur’an and Hadith.الملخصأهداف هذه الدراسة الكشف عن العلاقة بين نصوص القرآن والحديث في قضية ”الساعة“ التي تؤدّي إلى الجدل. تمت دراسة هذه القضية باستخدام المنهج النوعي بناء على التحليل الفلسفي. وهذا التحليل يبنى على التأويلية النقدية لكلمة ”الساعة“ الواردة في نصوص القرآن والحديث حرفيا وسياقيا تاريخيا. تشير نتائج هذه المقالة إلى أن الجدل في معاني "الساعة" يبدو بسبب اختلاف معانيها في القرآن والأحاديث النبوية. اقتصر القرآن على توضيح معاني ”الساعة“ في سياق الإيمان بالآخرة فحسب، بينما يوضح بعض روايات الحديث ”الساعة“ في سياق الرؤيا أو الحوادث التي جاءت قبل وقوع الساعة أيضا. إن تأثير التحول في المعانى لا يقف في الجانب المفاهيمي ، ولكن يؤثر أيضا في الجانب التطبيقي. مفهوم ”الساعة“ في القرآن لإيصال التعاليم في المجالات الأخلاقية والروحية، بينما يتم استخدام مفهوم ”الساعة“ في الأحاديث بشكل أكثر للدعاية في قضايا السياسية التي تميل إلى ظهور مفاهيم العنف في التدين. ونتيجة هذه الدراسة لها إسهام في تطور دراسة القرآن والحديث خاصة في معرفة جدلية البحث النصي والتاريخي بين نصوص القرآن ورواية الحديث.الكلمات الدلة: الساعة; التأويلية النقدية; القرآن والسنة.ABSTRAKStudi ini bertujuan untuk mengungkap relasional antara al-Qur’an dan Hadis terkait konsep akhir kehidupan di dunia (as-sā‘ah) yang tampaknya bersifat polemik. Fenomena tersebut diinvestigasi dengan menggunakan desain penelitian kualitatif berbasis analisis filosofis. Analisis ini menerapkan pembacaan hermeneutika kritis terhadap artikulasi as-sā‘ah yang terdapat dalam redaksi al-Qur’an dan Hadith, baik secara tekstual maupun kontekstual historis. Hasil temuan menunjukkan bahwa polemik tersebut diakibatkan karena terjadinya kesenjangan makna as-sā’ah antara redaksi al-Qur’an dan Hadis. Al-Qur’an hanya sebatas mengartikulasikannya dalam konteks eskatologi, sedangkan sebagian riwayat Hadis juga mencakup deskripsi akhir zaman atau peristiwa yang mendahului hari Kiamat (apokaliptik). Dampak dari evolusi makna tersebut tidak hanya terjadi pada aspek konseptual, tetapi juga pada aspek praksisnya. Eskatologi sebatas digunakan untuk menyampaikan pesan-pesan moralitas spiritual, sedangkan apokaliptik lebih dominan digunakan untuk propaganda politik yang rentan menimbulkan paham kekerasan dalam beragama. Temuan ini berimplikasi kepada pengembangan studi al-Qur’an dan Hadis, khususnya pada wilayah investigasi teks dan konteks historis dalam memahami relasional antara redaksi al-Qur’an dan riwayat Hadis.

Abstract

The profound journey of Islam's expansion in South Sulawesi during the 15th century resulted in a gradual uptake of Islam within the Toraja region. This delayed acceptance, compared to other areas in South Sulawesi, is frequently attributed to the use of force during Islam's expansion. This perception highlights the challenge of promoting tolerance between the Muslim minority and Christian majority in the region. To understand the complexities of this phenomenon, this study seeks to explore factors beyond violence that contributed to the slow pace of Islamization. Employing a qualitative approach based in anthropology, the research delves into historical and cultural contexts. It finds that forceful Islamization efforts by figures like the Bone Kingdom, Kahar Muzakkar, and Andi Sose, actually hampered the spread of Islam due to the negative cultural impacts they created. Instead, it was the migration of Muslims to Toraja for trade that played a key role in introducing Islam to the region. Intermarriages further altered the dynamics, shifting Islamization from a conversion-focused approach to one based on family connections.  This had consequences for how Islamic communities developed, depending on the choices of second-generation Muslims. The slow pace of Islamization also influenced various aspects of social and religious life, leading the Toraja people to develop nuanced responses.  They managed change by emphasizing positive aspects of Islam while minimizing negative ones, aiming to maintain peace within their religiously diverse society.  Thus, the Toraja actively engaged in managing the evolving religious landscape, adapting their practices to maintain communal harmony.

Abstract

This study explores the integration of Islamic educational values into the empowerment of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises at Masjid Jogokariyan and examines its relevance to mosque prosperity. Recognizing the mosque as a central institution in Islamic civilization—not only spiritually but also socially and economically—this research seeks to understand how values such as honesty, trust, responsibility, independence, and cooperation are internalized within community-based economic development. Employing a qualitative phenomenological approach, data were collected through interviews, participant observation, and document analysis to uncover the lived experiences of mosque leaders and local entrepreneurs. The findings reveal that Masjid Jogokariyan has effectively cultivated an Islamic ethical business culture by embedding spiritual teachings into practical training, promoting transparent financial management, and encouraging inclusive participation through community-driven leadership models. The mosque utilizes structured initiatives such as value-based mentoring, interest-free loan schemes, and “Business Qur’an Circles” to enhance both personal development and economic resilience among participants. These efforts have not only improved the livelihood of local residents but also strengthened congregational engagement, with a significant rise in mosque attendance and communal trust. The empowerment of Micro, Small, and Medium Enterprises has thus become a catalyst for broader mosque prosperity, affirming its role as a dynamic center of learning, service, and transformation. This research underscores the importance of reviving mosque-based Islamic education as a foundation for sustainable community empowerment in contemporary Muslim societies.

Abstract

AbstractThis article aims to explain the case of female college students who use the veil in the college campus area, and deal with the prohibition of the college leadership. The study uses qualitative methods, conducted in 2018 at several state Islamic universities (UIN) in the regions of Java, Sumatra, Kalimantan and Sulawesi. The data source comes from observations and interviews with female veil users. Data collection uses in-depth interview techniques, and snow-ball. Triangulation is carried out to strengthen the validity of the data and information obtained. Analysis of data and facts in the field was developed based on the theory of chastity structure developed from the structure of feeling structure (structure of feeling). The results showed that the female student's veil dressing behavior was driven by a changing spirit or moving to be or feel holy. They cannot compromise with campus rules, because they cannot separate private and public spaces. They have a unique logic of space, which is all space as a place of sharia enforcement. AbstrakArtikel ini bertujuan untuk menjelaskan kasus mahasiswi yang menggunakan cadar di wilayah kampus perguruan tinggi, dan berhadapan dengan larangan Pimpinan perguruan tinggi tersebut. Penelitian menggunakan metode kualitatif, dilakukan pada tahun 2018 pada beberapa Universitas Islam Negeri (UIN) di wilayah Jawa, Sumatera, Kalimantan dan Sulawesi. Sumber data berasal dari observasi dan wawancara pada mahasiswi pengguna cadar. Pengumpulan data menggunakan teknik wawancara mendalam, dan snow-ball. Triangulasi dilakukan untuk memperkuat keabsahan data dan informasi yang diperoleh. Analisa terhadap data dan fakta di lapangan dikembangkan berdasarkan teori struktur kesucian yang dikembangkan dari teori struktur perasaan (structure of feeling). Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa perilaku berpakaian cadar mahasiswi didorong oleh semangat berubah atau hijrah untuk menjadi atau merasa suci. Mereka tidak dapat berkompromi dengan aturan kampus, karena tidak dapat memilah antara ruang privat dan ruang publik. Mereka memiliki logika ruang yang unik, yakni semua ruang sebagai tempat penegakan syariah.

Abstract

This study intends to analyze the nexus between university support and an entrepreneurial mindset. This study also analyzes the mediating role of entrepreneurship education in this relationship. The research subjects are Public Islamic higher education (PTKIN) students who have participated in entrepreneurship education programs. The data in this study were collected using an online questionnaire. The number of respondents in this study was 297 students. Entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial mindset are dependent variables and university support is an independent variable. Data analysis by Partial Least Square-Structural Equation Modeling (PLS-SEM). The results define that university support has a positive effect on entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial mindset. Entrepreneurship education also has a positive effect on the entrepreneurial mindset. In addition, entrepreneurial mindsets mediate the relationship between university support and entrepreneurial mindsets. The implication of this finding is to enhance the students’ entrepreneurial mindset, PTKIN must provide support for an entrepreneurship education program for students. PTKIN needs to develop a university-based entrepreneurial ecosystem. Abstract

This research examines the empirical linkages among entrepreneurship education, entrepreneurial mindset, entrepreneurial skill, and entrepreneurial readiness of Islamic higher education students in Indonesia. This research also highlights the intervening role of an entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurial skills in the linkages between entrepreneurship education and entrepreneurial readiness. This study is based on social cognitive theory. The article is a quantitative research using a survey method. Data were collected using an online questionnaire with a sample of 310 Islamic college students in Indonesia. The data were analyzed using PLS-SEM to identify hypotheses. The results indicate that entrepreneurship education improves the entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurial skills. Surprisingly, entrepreneurship education has no direct effect on entrepreneurial readiness. Although entrepreneurship education indirectly affects entrepreneurial readiness, intervened by an entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurship skills. The results showed that the entrepreneurial mindset and entrepreneurship skills determine entrepreneurial readiness. The findings of this study are essential for Islamic higher education to provide entrepreneurship education that aims to develop an entrepreneurial mindset and improve entrepreneurship skills.
