Abstract

This study aims at describing social value found in a novel, Gadis Pantai by Ananata Toer that including vital, material, and spiritual value. This study used qualitative method and content analysis. The result of study shows that this novel contains material, vital, and spiritual value. Material value is dominated by a gold, the jewelry given by Bendoro to Gadis Pantai in order to viewed as high level people. Vital value is dominated by house equipment which related to the life of Gadis Pantai and spiritual value found in her life. Based on the social value, the author asks the reader fighting for equal right at that time.Keywords: social value, novel, Gadis Pantai.

Abstract

This research is pragmatic study which investigate conversational implicature of students of STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu, Lampung. This study is aimed to investigate type and function of students’ conversational implicature. The researcher used pramatic-in-dividing. The indicator is inter locutor. In collecting the data, the researcher used recording, observation, and writing technique. In analysing the data, the researcher recorded the source data, observed, wrote, and examined the conversation which is related to type and function of impilacture. The result indicated that many students of STKIP Muhammadiyah Pringsewu, Lampung used non-conventional implicature. While the conversational implicature function that students used was communicative and informative.Keywords: conversational implicature, students, Pringsewu, and pragmatic.

Abstract

The success of advertisement is viewed from the number of changes that appear in the environment or  the quantity of product that society need. The categories above are achieved due to the language role as a communication media. The advertisement language in news paper must be able to persuade, and generate people to act and buy the products informed in the news paper. The language should be interesting, effective, logic, well order, and appropriate with the space. The word, phrase, or sentence choosen have to be delivered completely, precisely, and clearly. The success of an advertisement depends on  how the selection and the use of word, phrase, and sentence could persuade and generate the reader. Interesting, effectivity of sturcture and meaning, logic, space ordering, and illustration are elements that have to be considered. Keywords: language, creative strategy,and advertisement.

Abstract

Identifying deductive and inductive thinking in reading has been popular because human thinking is based on both of them. The problem is students from primary and secondary shool up to higher level often get difficulty to identify deductive and inductive thinking. A text is not released from reference and contex which can explain that thinkings. This study aims to explain and find the concrete knowledge that determine whether a text is written using deductive or inductive thinking. The result shows that reference and context deliver deductive and inductive thinking in reading.Keywords: deductive, inductive, reading text, contex, pragmatic reference.

Abstract

This article aims to explain modern life style identified in Kecil-kecil Punya Karya (KKPK) children’s fiction series. The modern life style is analyzed using Lucien Goldman’s genetic structuralism. The result shows that children’s life style shown in three KKPK children’s fiction represents children’s modern life style in real life that is intended for consumerism and hedonism. This is a dilemma for children’s literature development. However, children’s literature serves as mean of eduction for children, but on the other side, modern life style shown does not deserve to be role model for children.Keywords: modern life style, children’s literature, genetic structuralism, Goldman

Abstract

Through mass media, literture can be enjoyed both in spoken literture and written literature. One of litertures which can be expressed orally is poetry. In this study, the researcher tried to understand the moral messages of Lampung poetry, in nature aspect and language methode. The Lampung poetry choosen is “Pisaan”which originally from Way Kanan and “Wayak” from Liwa. Both of them are included in Lampung Pesisir. The data analysis were focused on the from of Pisaan and Wayak poetry which were analysed based on the moral messages that included physical structure meaning and internal structure meaning.Keywords: Moral Message, Poetry, Pisaan, Wayak, Lampung.

Abstract

Literature discusses human in various aspects of life so through literature work people know individual personality, culture, and period. In novel Wanita di Lautan Sunyi created by Nurul Asmayani, it is figured out the different personality of three actors. The personality can be analyzed from the level of id, ego, and super ego. This study used descriptive qualitative method. The objective of this study is to know internal conflict that undergone by the main actor in this novel. In finishing each conflict happened by three main actors, the author describes it in simple, flow, and attractive. Moreover the use of well ordered and simple words make the story alive, seems as the real story so it is interesting to be read.Keywords: literature work, psychoanalysis, internal conflict.
