Abstract

Jagung mengandung pati yang tinggi, sehingga mudah mengalami perubahan sifat fisik selama penyimpanan. Penelitian bertujuan untuk melihat perubahan sifat fisik jagung kuning selama penyimpanan. Penelitian dilakukan secara eksperimental dengan menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dan diuji dengan analisis varian. Bila terjadi perbedaan dilanjutkan dengan uji Duncan. Jagung disimpan selama 0 (P0), 1 (P1), 2 (P2), 3 (P3) dan 4 (P4) minggu dengan masing-masing diulang sebanyak 4 kali. Peubah yang diukur meliputi berat jenis, kerapatan tumpukan dan kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan. Hasil menunjukan bahwa lama waktu mempengaruhi berat jenis, kerapatan tumpukan dan kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan, dengan nilai tertinggi didapat pada perlakuan P4, yaitu penyimpanan selama 4 minggu dengan nilai beturut-turut 1,28 kg/dm3, 649 kg/m3 dan 775,75 kg/m3. Hubungan antara berat jenis dengan kerapatan tumpukkan dan kerapatan pemadatan tumpukkan masing-masing r(kerapatan tumpukan) = 0,9748 dan r(kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan) = 0,9764, pada persamaan regresi Y(kerapatan tumpukan) = 325,79X + 227,07, R2(kerapatan tumpukan) = 0,9503 dan Y(kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan) = 247,78 + 457,85, R2(kerapatan pemadatan tumpukan) = 0,9534. Kesimpulan, lama penyimpanan mempengaruhi sifat fisik jagung kuning dan anatra berat jenis dengan kerapatan tumpukan dan kerapatan pemadatan tumpukkan memliki hubungan yang sangat erat.

Abstract

Hasil penelitian pemamfaatan limbah kulit kakao (KBK) dan kunyit untuk pakan kambing sudah banyak dipublikasikan terutama untuk peningkatan performa. Kandungan nutrisi KBK yang cukup bagi ternak yaitu protein kasar 8,69%, Serat Kasar 42.55%, Lemak 2,74%, Bahan Ekstrak Tanpa Nitrogen (BETN) 31.41% serta pada kunyit terkandung kurkumin yang dapat membangkitkan nafsu makan. KBK juga mengadung zat anti-nutrisi sehingga akan mengganggu apabila diberikan langsung sebagai pakan. Memaksimalkan potensi KBK perlu dilakukan pengolahan baik secara fisik,kimia maupun biologi untuk meningkatkan kandungan nutrisi dan menghilangkan zat anti-nurisinya. Pengolahan dan penambahan kunyit akan dapat memaksimalkan respon ternak ke arah yang lebih baik. Disimpulkan Penggunaan KBK dan kunyit dalam pakan mampu memenuhi kebutuhan akan pakan sepanjang tahun dengan kualitas optimal, sehingga dapat meningkatkan performa ternak kambing pada sentra perkebunan kakao.

Abstract

Sapi Bali memiliki arti strategis, peran penting dan peluang pasar yang menjanjikan. Sapi Bali merupakan ternak unggulan lokal yang harus menjadi perhatian serius karena merupakan ternak penghasil daging nasional untuk menunjang program pemerintah melalui swasembada daging sapi. Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk menganalisis klaster sapi Bali di Kecamatan Tanete Riaja Kabupaten Barru. Metode pengambilan sampel yaitu menggunakan metode multistage- quoted sampling yaitu anggota kelompok tani ternak Sipurennue, Leppangeng, Lempang, Makkawaru, dan Botto Tawang yang berjumlah 141 responden. Data dianalisis menggunakan K-Means Cluster Anaysis dan Cluster Hierarchy. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa terbentuk tiga kelompok entitas sesuai karakteristik homogenitasnya. Hubungan entitas terhadap manfaat Corporate Social Responsibility dan Gerakan Optimalisasi Sapi (GOS) diperoleh hubungan entitas; rendah terdiri dari 60 anggota, sedang terdiri dari 30 anggota dan tinggi terdiri dari 51 anggota. Klaster hirarki yang terbentuk memberikan indikasi anggota kelompok tani ternak memperoleh manfaat dari bantuan Corporate Social Responsibility dan bantuan pemerintah Provinsi Sulawesi Selatan melalui Gerakan Optimalisasi Sapi (GOS).

Abstract

Duck is one type of waterfowl that has a higher nutritional content than chicken. The high nutritional content of duck meat causes the meat to be more easily damaged because there is enough food for microbes so that duck meat cannot be stored at room temperature for too long. An alternative effort to inhibit microbial activity in duck meat is the addition of safe natural ingredients to the meat. One of the natural ingredients that can be used is bilimbi fruit because it has a high acid content. This study aims to determine the difference in the duration of soaking Magelang duck meat with belimbing wuluh juice on the pH value, water holding capacity and water content. The research method was carried out using a Completely Randomized Design (CRD) with 4 treatments and 5 replications, and using a 40% concentration of bilimbi fruit juice with a soaking time of 0, 20, 40, 60 minutes. The data obtained were analyzed by analysis of variance (ANOVA) and if different results were obtained, it was continued with the Duncan Multiple Rang Test (DMRT) further test. The results showed that the immersion time for 20-60 minutes had a very significant effect on lowering the pH value (4.30-4.67) and significantly reduced water content (63.83-64.07%) with a time 40-60 minutes, but had no significant effect on water holding capacity (54.63-48.47%). The immersion time of 40-60 minutes with bilimbi fruit juice with a concentration of 40% in Magelang duck breast meat reduced pH and water content, but had no effect on water holding capacity.

Abstract

This study aims to determine the effect of storage periods that doesn’t have a negative effect on the physical characteristics of wafer complete ration based on cabbage waste with molasses adhesive. The material used consists of a source of fiber and concentrate with a balanced ratio (50:50). This study used a completely randomized design (CRD) with 4 treatments, namely: WRK-0 (without storage/control), WRK-2 (2 weeks storage), WRK-4 (4 weeks storage), WRK-6 (6 weeks storage) each treated 5 times. The observed variables were density, specific gravity, and water absorption. Analysis of the data using analysis of variety (ANOVA) and if there is a significant difference with the observed changes using the Orthogonal Polynomial (PO) test. The results showed that storage time had a very significant (P<0.01) linear effect on water absorption (260-279%) with the equation Y= 259.1 + 3.3X and R2 = 0.981 but had no significant effect (P> 0.05) to the value of wafer density (0.62-0.65 g/cm3) and specific gravity (1.12-1.22 g/mL). Based on the results of the study, it was found that storage for up to 6 weeks didn’t have a negative effect on the physical characteristiscs quality of water complete ration based on cabbage waste with molasses adhesive.

Abstract

ABSTRACT Moringa leaves contain various nutrients that can protect spermatozoa during semen preservation. The purpose of this study was to examine the ability of moringa leaf extract with different concentrations of coconut water extender on the quality of Boer crossbreed goat spermatozoa preserved at 3-5°C. The treatment of this study was the concentration level of moringa leaf extract in coconut water extender. Fresh semen was divided into five tubes and diluted with 80% coconut water + 20% egg yolk (P0, control), 79% coconut water + 20% egg yolk + 1% moringa leaf extract (P1), 77% coconut water + 20% egg yolk + 3% moringa leaves ectract (P2), 75% coconut water + 20% egg yolk + 5% moringa leaf extract (P3), and 73% coconut water + 20% egg yolk + 7% moringa leaf extract (P4), respectively. The variables observed were motility and spermatozoa viability. Results of this study showed that supplementation of different concentrations of moringa leaf extracts in coconut water extender was significantly (P<0.05) on motility and viability of Boer crossbreed goat spermatozoa during preservation. Supplementation of 3% moringa leaf extract in coconut water extender was better than 1, 5, and 7% in maintain the quality of Boer crossbreed goat spermatozoa during preservation. Abstract

This study aims to determine the level of air pollution from fecal waste in terms of the perception of the people who live around the Bolu animal market, North Toraja Regency. This research was conducted from June 2022 to August 2022. The type of research used was descriptive research. . The number of samples used in this study were 22 respondents using purposive sampling method or chosen intentionally. Data collection methods used are observation and interviews. Analysis of the data used is descriptive analysis. The results showed that the level of air pollution from buffalo feces was disturbed according to the people who live around the Bolu Animal market, North Toraja Regency.

Abstract

Forage is vital for ruminants. Tree legumes can provide a lifetime food source, supporting the availability of forage for ruminants and green concentrates. The fiber fraction in chemical feed quality testing is more suitable for ruminant feed. This study aimed to analyze the fiber fraction of selected tree legumes. The experimental design used was a Randomized Block Design (RBD) with four treatments of selected tree legume species and three groups as replicates. T1 (Sesbania grandiflora leaves), T2 (Leucaena leucocephala leaves), T3 (Calliandra calothyrsus leaves), and T4 (Moringa oleifera leaves). Data were processed using SPSS version 26 software. A multiple-distance test was conducted to determine if the treatment had a significant effect. The variance results showed that the treatment of selected tree legume species had a significant effect (P<0.05) on the content of NDF, ADF, lignin, hemicellulose, and cellulose. In contrast, insoluble ash had no significant effect (P>0.05). The fiber fraction obtained in this study indicated that the four selected tree legumes had high feed value, good quality and green concentrate source. The lowest lignin content is 2.49% in Moringa leaves.

Abstract

This study aims to determine whether the type of oil and storage time can affect the physical and protein quality of layer eggs and whether there is an interaction between these two factors. This study used 36 Lohmann brown chicken eggs. The research method used a completely randomized design (CRD) with a 2x3x3 factorial pattern where 2 treatments were factor A (type of oil) and 3 treatments were factor B (storage time) using 3 repetitions. Factor A consists of M1 (Coconut Oil) and M2 (Olive Oil) while factor B consists of P1 (storage 7 days), P2 (storage 14 days) and P3 (storage 21 days). Parameters observed in this study were egg weight loss, air cavity, egg white index, egg yolk index, shell thickness and egg protein quality. The results showed that there was no interaction between the two factors on all research parameters.
