Abstract

Tomato plants are shrubs and are classified as annual plants. Tomato plants have oval-shaped leaves, the edges of the leaves are serrated and have pinnate slits that curve inward. The hairy leaves are about 20-30 cm long and 15-20 cm wide with a stalk length of about 3-6 cm. The research was conducted at the Technical Implementation Unit of the Experimental Gardens, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Jl. BinaWidya Km 12.5 SimpangBaru, Tampan, Pekanbaru City. This study lasted for 6 months, starting from July to December 2020. This study was a randomized block design experiment (RAK) consisting of 6 treatments and 3 groups, 18 experimental units were obtained. Each experimental unit contained 20 plants. The data observed in the form of quantitative data. The parameters that will be observed are as follows: Flowering age, Harvest age, the ripe fruit, Plant height, Stem diameter, andThe number of fruit cavities. Observation of the number of cavities was carried out as many as 10 pieces per bed. The 7 genotypes tomatoes produced different performances from one genotype to another, especially in plant height, fruit length, fruit diameter, and number of fruit cavities. The genotype was found to be better than the Tora IPB variety, namely the genotype SG15- F10 07897D -9-2-1-6-1-8-5-3 which had better plant height, fruit diameter and number of fruit cavities.Keywords : Horticultura, Growth performance, Genotype

Abstract

Dumai city is one of the cities in Riau Province, which has potential in the field of oil palm plantations. The development of oil palm in Dumai city due to the increasing demand for palm oil, so that the use of mineral land is more and more limited. This led to many farmers who began to seek the development of oil palm plantations using peat and tidal peat. This study aims to analyze the comparison of productivity, cost of production and net income of oil palm smallholders independent patterns in tidal peatlands and mineral land in Dumai city. The research method used quantitative statistical analysis is to calculate productivity, production costs, revenues, and analyze the comparison of productivity, production costs and revenues in mineral land and tidal peatlands with statistical T test of independent samples. The results showed that the productivity of fresh fruit bunches, production costs and net income of planters between the two lands in Dumai were statistically significantly different. The largest productivity of fresh fruit bunches of oil palm is in mineral land at 16.18 tons/ha/year and the smallest tidal peat at 12.04 tons/ha/year. The largest palm oil production costs are in tidal peatlands of Rp.709.54 Kg/year and mineral land of Rp.521.88 Kg/year. The net income of oil palm planters in Dumai city on mineral land amounted to Rp.13,372,158/ha/year and on Tidal peatlands amounting to Rp.7,724,441 ha/year. Keywords: Oil palm, farming, mineral land, tidal peat land.

Abstract

v>This study utilizes sago bark waste which has high lignin and cellulose content to beused as raw material for making activated charcoal with zinc chloride (ZnCl2). The purposeof this study was to obtain the best concentration of zinc chloride (ZnCl2) based on thecharacteristics of the sago bark activated charcoal produced. The charcoal was activated bysoaking the charcoal in zinc chloride (ZnCl2) solution for 24 hours with a mass ratio ofactivator to charcoal mass (4:1) with variations in zinc chloride (ZnCl2) concentrations,namely KA1 (ZnCl2 15%), KA2 (ZnCl2 20%), KA3 (ZnCl2 25%), KA4 (ZnCl2 30%), and KA5(ZnCl2 35%). The results of this study indicate that the concentration of zinc chloride has asignificant effect on the characteristics activated carbon. Activated carbon with the bestcharacteristics was obtained in the KA4 treatment with an activated carbon yield of 84.06%,a water content of 7.52%, ash content of 5.51%, volatile matter content of 14.90%, boundcarbon content of 72.05%, and iodine adsorption capacity of 752.94 mg/g. Abstract

v>The purpose of this research is to analyse the right strategy for californiapapaya fruit collector in improving competitiveness using the (SWOT) methodsand (AHP) methods. This research uses SWOT analyse and AHP analyse whichincludes internal factor analyse, external factor analysis, SWOT matrix,alternative strategy hierarchy, and hierarchical data processing through to findstrategy priorities for california papaya collecting traders in KecamatanTambang. Analyse using the SWOT method shows 8 alternative strategies.Furthermore, to determine the priority of the strategy, the AHP method is used,which shows 3 priority strategies including establishing cooperation withsuppliers (0.305), establishing cooperation with agricultural cooperatives(0.264), and utilizing social media (0.122). Keywords: SWOT analyse, AHP analyse, collector
