Abstract

Sugar palm or palm tree (Arenga pinnata Merr) is a plant that produces industrial materials. Propagation of sugar palm plants can be done generatively using seeds. The problem in seed propagation is that it is not known what the best seed size has the potential to accelerate the process of seed germination and obtain quality seeds. This study aims to determine the effect of sugar palm seed weight and determine the best seed weight for sugar palm plant growth and germination.This research was carried out from April 2021 to August 2021 which was arranged according to a completely randomized design with different sizes of palm seeds consisting of four sizes, namely: < 4.0 g, > 4.0 g – 5.5 g, > 5, 5 g – 7.0 g and > 7.0 g. Parameters observed were germination, seed vigor, germination rate, apokol length, apokol diameter, plumule length and plumule diameter. Data were analyzed using variance and further tested using multiple distance test at 5% level. The results showed that the size of the palm seeds had an effect on seed vigor, apokol length and apokol diameter while seed weight had no effect on germination, germination rate, plumule length and plumule diameter at seed size > 5.5 – 7.0 g indicating germination results and the best germination growth in sugar palm plants. Based on the results of the research that has been carried out, it is expected that when selecting seeds to be used in the germination process and sprout growth using seeds with sizes > 5.5 – 7.0 g.Keywords : palm seeds, seeds weight.

Abstract

This research aims to describe the profile of oil palm sticks agroindustry, describe the profile of women crafts in the oil palm sticks industry, find out the time allocation, and the contribution of women palm oil stick craftsmen, and analyze the contribution of women's income from the sticks agroindustry business households in Tualang Timur village, Tualang district Siak regency. The research method used is the census method. The data used are primary data and secondary data. Informants in this study were all members of the women's group of oil palm stick craft in Tualang Timur village Tualang district Siak regency. The results of this research indicate that the largest time allocation for women is on productive activities of 42 hours per week and the smallest time allocation for social activities is 0.85 hours per week. The average acceptance of women as owners as well as craft is Rp. 1,331,400 per month. When viewed from family income, it turns out that the income of the owner's family is greater, where the average income of the owner's family is Rp. 4,856,400 per month. So it can be seen that the contribution of women is 27.41 percent in family income.. Keywords : Contribution of women's time, women's income, oil palm stick crafts

Abstract

One way to make tomato make tomato skin peel easily.This study aims toobtain the right soaking time for peeling tomato skin for manufacture of tomato juice.Thisresearch was conducted experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting offour treatments and four replications.The treatments in this study were TS1 = without heating :TS2 = heating temperature of 80ºC, for 20 seconds, TS3 = heating temperature of 80ºC, for 25seconds, TS4 = heating temperature of 80ºC, for 30 seconds.The results of the study wereanalyzed using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA).If the calculated F is greater than the F table, theDuncan Multiple Range Test (DMRT) will be continued at the 5% level.The results showed thathealting timehad a significant effect on yield, vitamin C content, total dissolved solids, viscosity,color, and hedonic sensory test.Mean while, there was no significant difference (P>0.05) in thetaste of tomato juice.Based on the analysis of physico-chemical properties, yield, and sensory testof tomato juice, the treatment chosen in this study was heating at 80ºC for 25 seconds (TS3) with ayield of 95,74%, vitamin C content of 10.63%, total dissolved solids 13,80 Brixº, viscosity 380,967cP, and sensory ratings have a red color (2.45), slightly tomato-scented aroma (2.80), sour taste(2.35),andoverallratinglike (2.35). Keywords:tomatoes,heatingtime,tomatojuice

Abstract

Aquilaria malaccensis is a group of plants that produce highly commercial aromatics which lately has been difficult to obtain, efforts have been made to increase the productivity of gaharu plants by improving the quality of planting media and increasing seedling growth. It is done by giving liquid organic fertilizer from rabbit urine. The purpose of this research was to determine the effect and the best concentration of rabbit urine liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) use on peat medium, on the growth of Aquilaria malaccensis seedlings. This study used a complet random design (CRD) consisting of 4 treatments and 5 replications, in order to obtain 20 experimental units. The treatments were: K0 (control) K1 (rabbit urine with 20% concentration) K2 (rabbit urine with 50% concentration) K3 (rabbit urine with 80% concentration). The data were further analyzed using variance, with SPSS software version 23.0, the test was conducted to determine whether at least one treatment that had a significant effect. If there is, it must be continued with the DNMRT test at 5% level. The application of rabbit urine liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) affected the growth of Aquilaria malaccensis seedlings, and the best concentration of rabbit urine liquid organic fertilizer (LOF) to stimulate the growth of Aquilaria malaccensis seedlings on peat medium was at 20% concentration (Treatment K1) with the seedling survival rate of 88%, increase in seedling height 3.05 cm, and top root ratio 4.67.Keywords : Liquid organicfertilizer, rabbiturine,Aqularia malaccensis,peatmedium

Abstract

Green mustard is a vegetable plant that is generally cultivated in highland areas, but mustard greens can also be grown in lowland areas. The many benefits of mustard greens, it is necessary to make efforts to increase the yield by paying attention to the way of cultivation, such as hydroponic cultivation. Hydroponic cultivation is one solution to meet the needs of vegetables in urban areas because it can be grown on limited land. The advantages of hydroponic cultivation include higher production, compared to conventional planting. The nutrients provided in hydroponic cultivation are AB Mix nutrient solutions, where this nutrient solution contains macro and micro nutrients needed to support plant growth and production. This study was a completely randomized design trial (CRD) consisting of 5 treatments and 4 replications. The treatments in this study were AB Mix 6 ml.l-1, AB Mix 9 ml.l-1, AB Mix 12 ml.l-1, AB Mix 15 ml.l-1, and AB Mix 18 ml.l- 1. Parameters observed were plant height, number of leaves, leaf length and width, plant fresh weight, edible fresh weight, and root volume. The results of the study were statistically analyzed by Duncan's multiple-distance test at 5% level. The results showed that giving AB Mix 9 ml.l-1 was the best treatment which gave results that were not significantly different from other treatments. Based on the results of the study, it can be seen that the combination treatment of high AB Mix nutrients does not necessarily increase the growth of mustard greens hydroponically well. Keywords: sawi hijau, AB mix, hidroponik rakit apung

Abstract

The purpose of this study was to increase the growth and production of land kangkung plants that were given Growmore leaf fertilizer at different intervals, and to obtain the best concentration and interval of fertilizer application. The research was carried out in the yard of the house, Pondok II Libo RW 10 RT 001, Libo Jaya Village, Kandis District, Siak. The study lasted for one month from August to September 2021. The study was carried out experimentally using a completely randomized design (CRD), consisting of 2 treatments and 3 replications with Growmore fertilizer concentration and spraying intervals. Parameters observed were plant height, stem diameter, number of leaves, canopy wet weight, root wet weight, leaf fresh weight, shoot dry weight, root dry weight, and total chlorophyll content. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using variance. The results of the variance were continued with Duncan's multiple distance test at the 5% level. The results showed that the application of Growmore fertilizer at various concentrations and intervals of spraying could increase plant height, number of leaves, wet weight of roots, fresh weight of leaves, and total chlorophyll content. The application of Growmore fertilizer with 3 g.l-1 of water at intervals of3 days increased the growth of the kale. The application of Growmore fertilizer with different concentrations did not increase the growth and production of kale, meanwhile the interval of spraying Growmore fertilizer once every 3 days can increase the wet weight of the roots and the wet weight of the crown. Keywords: Growmore foliar fertilizer, land kale, concentration, spraying interval

Abstract

Oil palm is one of the leading plantation commodities in Indonesia. The advantages of palm oil make Indonesia the largest producer and exporter of palm oil in the world. ISPO or Indonesia Sustainable Palm Oil is Indonesian sustainable palm oil that was formed and implemented by the provisions in force in Indonesia. ISPO provisions were drafted in 2011 with the issuance of Minister of Agriculture No.19/Permentan/OT.140/3/2011 concerning Guidelines for Sustainable Oil Palm Plantations in Indonesia and has been updated to Minister of Agriculture No. 11 of 2015. ISPO is mandatory and any violation will be dealt with. In 2020, new provisions on ISPO were drafted with the issuance of Presidential Decree No. 44 of 2020 concerning the Indonesian Sustainable Oil Palm Plantation Certification System. The purpose of this study was to analyze the level of achievement of the ISPO standard for independent oil palm smallholders in Kampar Regency. Sampling a representative area using multistage sampling. From all urban sub-districts in Kampar Regency, 3 sub-districts were selected as samples in this study, namely Tapung Hulu District, Tapung District, and TapungHilir District. There are two types of data used in this study, namely primary data and secondary data. The use of qualitative descriptive analysis in this study is to evaluate the achievement of the ISPO principles and criteria by smallholders. The results of this study indicate that independent oil palm smallholders in Kampar Regency are still not able to apply the best standards for oil palm plantations in accordance with ISPO principles, criteria and indicators. Key words: Smallholders, Independent Oil Palm, ISPO

Abstract

The development of eggplant (Solanum melongena L.) cultivation is the fastest in Southeast Asia, one of which is in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the interaction effect of NPK fertilizer and guano fertilizer on eggplant growth and production and to determine the effect of NPK fertilizer and guano fertilizer as a single factor on eggplant plant growth and to obtain the best dose. This research has been carried out at the Experimental Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Bina Widya Campus KM 12.5, Pekanbaru. The research lasted for 4 months, starting from July 2021 to November 2021. The materials used in this study were round eggplant seeds of Pondoh variety, guano fertilizer, NPK fertilizer, Dithane M-45, Furadan 3G, Decis 25 EC, rope rapia, wood and nails. The tools used in this study were hoes, machetes, knives, scissors, rakes, polybags, scales, meter, paranet, gembor, hammer, plastic, camera, and stationery. This study used a factorial completely randomized design (CRD). consists of 2 factors. The first factor is the treatment of NPK fertilizer (16:16:16) (N) which consists of 4 levels, namely: N0 = Control (without NPK fertilizer), N1 = NPK fertilizer 100 kg.ha-1, N2 = 200 kg NPK fertilizer .ha-1 and N3 = NPK fertilizer 300 kg.ha-1 The second factor is the treatment of guano fertilizer (G) which consists of 4 levels as follows: G0 = control (without Guano fertilizer), G1 = 10 tons of guano fertilizer. ha-1 , G2= guano fertilizer 15 tons.ha-1 and G3= guano fertilizer 20 tons.ha-1. From these two factors, 16 treatment combinations were obtained. Each treatment consisted of 3 replications so that the number of experimental units obtained was 48 units. Each unit consists of 4 plants, 2 of which are used as samples, the total number of plants is 192 plants. Based on research that has been carried out to get good growth and production of eggplant plants can use NPK fertilizer at a dose of 300 kg.ha-1, but to get better results can use guano fertilizer 15 tons.ha-1 and NPK fertilizer 300 kg. ha-1. Keywords: eggplant, NPK, Guano Fertilizer

Abstract

Soybean is one of the commodities that are very much processed by the people of Indonesia. Soybean production in Indonesia in recent years has tended to decline, so efforts can be made to increase the productivity of soybean plants. Efforts are made by planting soybeans on replanted land in oil palm plantations. The aim of the study was to determine the response of various soybean varieties to shade caused by the canopy of young oil palm trees and to determine the components of diversity and heritability of various quantitative variables of soybean plants on land conditions that were shaded by young oil palms. This research was conducted using a split plot design (RPT) which consisted of 2 factors. The first plot is shaded conditions according to the age of oil palm plants N1 (control), N2 (3 years old oil palm) and N3 (5 years old oil palm) and the subplots are six soybean genotypes namely Anjasmoro, Agromulyo, Burangrang, Dena 1 , Grobogan and Dega 1. Parameters observed were plant height, internode length, number of primary branches, age of flowering plant, age of harvest, number of pithy pods, number of seeds per plant, weight of seeds per plant, weight of 100 seeds, yield per m2. The data obtained were analyzed using a variance test and continued with the Duncan's New Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) test at 5% level. The results showed that soybean variety Dega 1 could be recommended as a genotype that was quite well adapted to land shaded by oil palm at the age of 3 years on quantitative characters (age of flowering plant, seed weight per plant and yield per m2). Keyword : Glycine max L., Palm oil canopy, Replanting.

Abstract

Kedelai (Glycine max.) adalah salah satu tanaman pangan yang mempunyai peranan penting bagi masyarakat Indonesia setelah padi dan jagung. Kebutuhan kedelai nasional sampai saat ini belum dapat dipenuhi oleh produksi kedelai dalam negeri. Oleh sebab itu perlu dilakukan peningkatan produksi kedelai dengan memanfaatkan lahan tanaman kelapa sawit muda. Penelitian ini menggunakan rancangan petak terbagi dimana sebagai petak utama adalah  kondisi naungan sesuai umur tanaman kelapa sawit N1 (kontrol), N2 (tanaman kelapa sawit umur 3 tahun) dan N3 (tanaman kelapa sawit umur 5 tahun) dan anak petaknya adalah enam genotipe kedelai yaitu Argomulyo, Dena 1, Grobogan, Devon 2, Devon 1, dan Anjasmoro. Parameter yang diamati adalah tinggi tanaman, umur tanaman berbunga, umur panen, jumlah polong bernas, jumlah biji per tanaman, berat biji per tanaman, bobot 100 biji, dan hasil per m2. Data dianalisis menggunakan sidik ragam dan dilanjutkan uji Duncan’sNew Multiple Range Test (DNMRT) taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa semuavarietas kedelai yang ditanam dibawah tegakan kelapa sawit umur 5 tahun tinggi dan panjang ruas tanaman semakin panjang, jumlah polong bernasnya berkurang, jumlah biji pertanaman berkurang, berat biji per tanaman berkurang, bobot 100 biji juga berkurang, hasil per m2 juga berkurang disbanding kontrol dan yang ditanam dibawah tegakan kelapa sawit umur 3 tahun. Komponen hasil dan hasil hamper semua varietas sama nilainya antara tanaman control dengan tanaman yang dibawah sawit umur 3 tahun. Hal ini menunjukkan  bahwa semua varietas kecuali Anjasmoro masih dapat beradaptasi dengan baik jika ditanam dibawah kelapa sawit umur 3 tahun. Kata Kunci: Kedelai, Naungan Kelapa Sawit, Varietas Kedelai.
