Abstract

The purpose of the study was to get the best combination of pineapple fruit and roselle flower in making fruit leather. The research used a Complete Randomized Design (CRD) with 5 treatments and 3 replications.The treatment was the ratio of pineapple and roselle petal puree namely NR1 (100:0), NR2 (90:10), NR3 (80:20), NR4 (70:30) and NR5 (60:40).The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Anova and DNMRT at 5% level. The research showed that rasio of pineapple fruit pureeand roselle flower puree showed significant effect on moisture, content, ash content, degree of acidity (pH), reduction sugar content, antioxidant activity content and organoleptic test. The best treatment of fruit leather from this research wasNR5 which was water content 11,24%, ash content 0,32%, degree of acidity (pH) 2,90, reduction sugar content 34,84%, antioxidant activity content 95,447 µg/ml. Has a red color, roselle scented, sour taste, the texture rather springy and preferred by the panelist for overall assessment.Keywords :fruit leather, pineapple puree and roselle petals puree

Abstract

This research aims to determine the growth and production of soybean plants by composting coffee rind and NPK as well as getting the best dose. This research has been conducted at the Faculty of Agriculture Experimental Station Riau University Campus Bina Widya km 12.5 Simpang Baru Kecamatan Tampan Kotamadya Pekanbaru, for three months, from April to July 2017. This study used a factorial randomized block design (RBD). The first factor was coffee rind compost consisting of 3 levels, K0= 0 ton/ha, K1= 10 ton/ha, K2= 20 ton/ha and the second factor, namely NPK consists of 4 levels, P1= 62,5 kg/ha, P2= 125 kg/ha, P3= 187,5 kg/ha, P4= 250 kg/ha. The parameters observed consisting of plant height, number of productive branches, days to flowering, number of flowers, harvesting age, the percentage of pithy pods, number of seeds per plant, crop seed weight, yield per m2 and weight of 100 seeds. Results of analysis of variance followed by DNMRT  5%. Coffee rind compost 10 ton/ha and 125 kg NPK/ha increased plant height, number of seeds per plant, seed weight per plant and yield per m2.Keywords: Soybean, coffee rind compost, NPK.

Abstract

Land use between immature oil palm plants for upland rice plantations is an alternative in spurring rice production in Riau. To increase rice productivity, NPK fertilizer is needed. The research was conducted at the Agrotechnology Education Garden, Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Pekanbaru. This study lasted for 4 months from January to April 2019. The study was conducted experimentally using factorial randomized block design (RBD) consisting of two factors. the first factor is NPK Mutiara fertilizer dosage (16:16:16) with a dose of 0 g.m-2, 10 g.m-2, 20 g.m-2 and 30 g.m-2. The second factor is three varieties (Kalpatali, Kuku Balam and Telur Ikan). The parameters observed were plant height, maximum number of tillers, number of productive tillers and panicle exit age. The data obtained were analyzed statistically with variance and continued with DNMRT further test at the level of 5%. The effect of of NPK fertilization significantly increased plant height, maximum number of tillers, number of productive tillers and accelerated age of panicle out of local upland rice varieties. The giving of 30 gm-2 NPK fertilizer is the best treatment to increased the growthof Kuku Balam varieties is the best of upland rice. Keywords: local varieties upland rice, NPK fertilization,  oil palm plant  immature.

Abstract

Essential oil is one of the non-timber forest products which is very beneficial for Indonesia. Syzygium oleana are one of the plants with sufficient potential to know the characteristics of their essential oil quality and are widely distributed in Indonesia. This study aims to determine the quality characteristics of Syzygium oleana leaf essential oil based on the storage time of raw materials by the steam distillation method. This research was conducted in January until February 2018 in Laboratory of Natural Materials Technology and Mineral Chemical Engineering, University of Riau. This experience using completely Random Design Consisting of 3 treatments and 3 repetitions. The yield of essential oil obtained was then observed for color, smell and solubility in ethanol. Long storage of raw materials before refining can increase the amount of essential oil yield, the treatment of storage of raw materials for 48 hours obtained the highest average yield (0.32%) of other treatments. The quality of essential oil  from Syzygium oleana follows: The smell of essential oils that have the most distinctive aroma of Syzygium oleana that have been tested by smell test is Syzygium oleana leaves with raw material storage for 48 hours as much as 80% of the panelists said they had a distinctive smell. Visually observed from 3 treatments produced the same color, which is yellow. Essential oil Syzygium oleana has ethanol solubility according to SNI of clove leaf oil with a ratio of 1: 2.Keywords : Characteristics, Essential oils, Syzygium oleana, Storage

Abstract

Penelitian ini bertujuan untuk mengetahui interaksi antara tinggi genangan air dan pupuk organik serta mendapatkan tinggi genangan air dan dosis pupuk organik yang optimal untuk pertumbuhan dan produksi tanaman padi sawah (Oryza sativa L.). Penelitian ini dilakukan di Laboratorium kebun percobaan Fakultas Pertanian Universitas Riau mulai bulan Agustus hingga Desember 2018 menggunakan rancangan acak lengkap dengan dua faktor yaitu tinggi genangan air yang terdiri dari 4 taraf : T0 (tinggi genangan 0 cm/macak-macak), T1 (tinggi genangan 5 cm), T2 (tinggi genangan 7,5 cm), T3 (tinggi genangan 10 cm) dan dosis pupuk organik petroganik yang terdiri dari 3 taraf : P0 (tanpa diberi pupuk petroganik/kontrol), P1 (pupuk petroganik 2,0 g.rumpun-1), P2 (pupuk petroganik 2,5g.rumpun-1). Data hasil analisis ragam dilanjutkan dengan uji jarak berganda Duncan’s pada taraf 5%. Hasil penelitian menunjukkan bahwa pertumbuhandanproduksipadisawah yang optimal terlihatpadatinggigenangan air 0 cm (macak – macak) dandosispupukorganik2,0 g.rumpun-1yaitumeningkatkantinggitanaman, jumlahanakanmaksimum, jumlahanakanproduktif, beratgabah total, , berat 1000 butirgabahbernassertaberatgabahkeringgiling per rumpun.Kata kunci : tinggi genangan air, pupuk organik, pertumbuhan, produksi padi sawah

Abstract

   1This study aims to determine the best combination of NPK and liquid organic fertilizer from tilapia waste on the growth of cocoa seeds (Theobroma cacao  L.). This research was conducted at Experimental Garden Faculty of Agriculture, University of Riau, Pekanbaru. The study was conducted from April 2019 to August 2019. The study used a completely randomized design (CRD) consisting of seven treatments and three replications. The treatments used were NPK fertilizer 12.48 g/polybag, NPK fertilizer 6.24g/polybag + LOFtilapia fish waste25%, NPK fertilizer 6.24 g/polybag + LOFtilapia fish waste50%, NPK fertilizer 6.24 g/polybag + POC tilapia fish waste75%, NPK fertilizer 12.48 g/polybag + LOF tilapia fish waste25%, NPK fertilizer 12.48 g/polybag + LOFtilapia fish waste50% and NPK fertilizer 12.48 g/polybag + LOF tilapia fish waste75%. The parameters observed were seedling height(cm),numberofleaves(strands),girth(cm),leaflength(cm),width(cm),root volume (ml), root crown ratio (g), weight dry seedlings (g), and leaf area (cm2). The results of the analysis were further tested using multiple range test Duncan'sat the 5% level. The results showed that the combination of NPK fertilizer treatment with LOF tilapia fish waste had an effect on the parameters of seed height, number of leaves wrapped in stems, leaf length, leaf width, root volume, root crown ratio, seed dry weight and leaf area. The application of 6,24 g of NPK fertilizer with 50% LOF tilapia fish waste gave the best growth results for cocoa seedlings in all parameters for cocoa seed growth. Keywords: Cocoa seeds, NPK fertilizer, tilapiawasteliquid organic fertilizer

Abstract

Productivity of soybean in Indonesia is still low due mainly to environmental and genetic factors as well as improper cultural practices. The productivity can be increased; however, by the improvement of soybean varieties and developing new varieties. This study was intended to compare yield potential of two F7 populations derived from crossing Grobogan x KM 19 and Grobogan x KM 25. A field experiment was conducted in the Factulty of Agriculture Experiment Station, Riau University located in Pekanbaru from April to July 2021. Nineteengenotypes consisting of eight F7 lines each from crosses of Grobogan x KM 19, and Grobogan x KM 25, included their three parents were each planted in a 3 m by 2 m plot with 3 replications. Data obtained from this study were analyzed by usinganalysis of variance and then were tested by the Dunnet test at the 5% level. To compare the two populations, t-testprocedure was applied.The results showed significant difference of 19 genotypes on all characters tested except for plant height, while the t-test imposed to the two populations did not show significant differences for the 11 tested characters.Keywords: soybean genotypes, productivity, t Test

Abstract

White frangipani plant is an ornamental plant that is currently being much developed. The main problem in the development of white frangipani is sexual reproduction has a weakness, some of them take a long time, and genetic differences with the parent. So, the vegetative propagation as the alternative. One way of vegetative propagation by cuttings can be done, and the length of the cuttings was will be the success of the cuttings, but the success is relatively low due to the inhibition of root formation. So, added of growth regulators is one alternative make to form roots properly. This study aims to increase the success of white frangipani plant propagation through cuttings. The research was carried out in the experimental garden of the Faculty of Agriculture, Riau University, Bina Widya Campus Km 12.5 Pekanbaru from September to December 2021. The study was conducted in the form of a 3 x 4 factorial trial with a completely randomized design with 3 replications. The first factor, the length of the cuttings were: 10 cm, 15 cm, and 20 cm, and the second factor was the PGR concentration which consisted of: without PGR, 100 ppm, 150 ppm, and 200 ppm. The results showed that the success of white frangipani plant propagation was only seen in the increase in shoot length and leaf length as the effect of the interaction between cutting length and ZPT concentration. The use of cuttings with a size of 20 cm resulted in longer shoots of 0.57 cm and 0.60 cm compared to 100 ppm and 150 ppm ZPT immersion when the cuttings were immersed in 200 ppm PGR concentration. The use of cuttings with a size of 20 cm resulted in 2.10 cm and 2.00 cm longer leaves compared to 100 ppm and 150 ppm ZPT immersion when the cuttings were immersed in 200 ppm PGRconcentration. Abstract

The research was conducted at BBI Pekanbaru. Address, Jl. KaharudinNasution, MarpoyanDamai, Pekanbaru City, Riau. This research was conducted from May to August 2021. This study consisted of five doses of sludge fertilizer using three replications and using a randomized block design. The treatments given were various doses of mud consisting of 3 doses, namely: S0= 0 t.ha-1 (0 kg per plot), S1= 10 t.ha-1 (3 kg per plot), S2= 20 t .ha-1 (6 kg per plot). Parameters observed number of productive tillers, the number of grainy grain, dry grain weight per plot, weight of 1.000 grains of pithy grain. The data obtained were analyzed statistically using Analysis of Variance (ANOVA) then further tested with Duncan's multiple distance test at a level of 5% using the Satker application system (SAS). The results showed that the application of PKS sludge compost fertilizer had an effect on the maximum number of tillers, number of productive tillers, number of pithy grain per panicle, and the weight of dry milled grain per plot with the best PKS sludge compost fertilizer at a dose of 20 ton.ha-1. Based on the research results obtained, To obtain the best lowland rice cultivation, it is recommended to use compost from palm oil waste (sludge) with the SRI method at a dose of 20 ton.ha-1.Keyworsd: sludge, doses, rice plant

Abstract

A popular product made from Moringa leaves is tea. Infusion of Moringa leaves will have more nutrition if it is fermented into kombucha, because kombucha drinks have high antioxidant activity when compared to drinks that have not been made kombucha. This study aims to determine the optimal length of fermentation time for the physicochemical properties of kombucha tea produced from Moringa leaf. The study used a completely randomized design with five treatments and 4 replications. In this study, kombucha tea was made with variations in the length of fermentation, time namely L1 (6 days fermentation), L2 (7 days fermentation), L3 (8 days fermentation), L4 (9 days fermentation) and L5 (fermentation time 10 days). The parameters observed included the degree of acidity (pH), vitamin C, antioxidant activity and overall hedonic test. The treatment chosen was L1 (6 days fermentation time) with a value of 3.29 degrees of acidity, 22.88 mg/100ml of vitamin C, antioxidant activity with an IC50 value of 1.25 g/ml and an overall hedonic test of 2.75 (somewhat like ). Keywords: fermentation time, kombucha tea, moringa leaf
