Abstract

Abstract This research was conducted from May - June 2017 in Beach Pandan district Tapanuli central north Sumatera Province. The purpose of this research is to know the type of material constituents horizontally in Pandan coastal waters. Sediment samples were taken using a grab sampler to take samples from 2 stations consisting of 6 sampling points and then analyzed for composition and organic matter content in sediments. The result showed that the composition of sediments found in coastal waters of pandan consisted of lithogenous( rock, mica, and quartz) and biogenous( litter, foraminifera and molluscs). Especially lithogenous composition of rock dominates the presence in the waters and evenly distributed in each station. The type of rock is derived from erosion and antropogenic activity in the surrounding waters. Keywords: Composition, Horizontal Sediment, Pandan Beach.

Abstract

Silk worms are one type of live food favored because it has nutrients that are good for the growth of fish larvae. This study aims to determine the effect of stocking density and feeding tofu to a different frequency on the growth of silk worms. This study was conducted in 26 March to 22 May 2016 located at Jln. Kamboja No. 38, Simpang Baru, Panam, Pekanbaru. The media used in the research is a mixture of mud, dung quail, pulp, bran, sand and EM4. The material used is silk worms obtained from collectors. This research was conducted by an experimental method using a completely randomized design (CRD) factorial with 2 factors and 3 levels of treatment and repeated three times. The treatment in this treatment: P45F1: stoking density 45 g and Frequency 1x1 days, P45F2: stoking density 45 g and Frequency 1x2 days, P45F3: stoking density 45 g and Frequency 1x3 days, P55F1: stoking density 55 g and Frequency 1x1 days, P55F2 : Solid Tebar 55 g and Frequency 1x2 days, P55F3: Solid Tebar 55 g and Frequency 1x3 days, P65F1: stoking density 65 g and Frequency 1x1 days, P65F2: stoking density 65 g and Frequency 1x2 days, P65F3: stoking density 65 g and frequency 1x3 days. The data observed in the form of biomass growth, population, length growth and quality of water. The results of the study, indicating that the stocking density and feeding tofu with different frequenci es no significant effect (P> 0.05) on the growth of biomass, population and the growth of length silk worms. The highest growth of biomass was obtained in treatment P55F3 (stocking density 55g and Frequency 1x3 days) is 185.67 g / 0.098 m2. The highest the growth of length obtained in the treatment P45F1 (stocking density 45g and frequency of 1x1 days) is 1.47 cm and for growth of population is highest in treatment P55F2 (stocking density 55g and frequency of 1x2 days) is 41661.33 ind / 0.098 m2. Water quality during the research for the values of temperature, pH, Dissolved Oxygen (DO) are still in a reasonable range. Abstract

The research aimed to compare the quality of smoke flavored to the traditionally smokedcatfish smoked catfish (Cryptopterus bicirchis). The research was using experimental methodand composed as a randomized block design. There were two smoking methods, those weretraditionally hot smoking and liquid smoking. The liquid smoke used for soaking the fish wasvaried to crude liquid smoke and redistilled liquid smoke. The quality of the smoked fishproducts were evaluated for the value of sensory, water content, value of pH, content of totalacid, content of total phenol, and TPC. The result showed that the quality of all smoke catfishproduct could be stored for 30 days at room temperature. At the first day before storage, thevalue of the appearance was 8,8, the value of the odor was 8,7, the value of the flavor was 8,8,and the value of the texture was 8,8. The chemical characteristic showed that the content ofmoisture was 14.38 %, the pH value was 6.7, content of the total acids was 3.75%, content of thetotal phenols was 0.97 ppm, and the TPC was 3.65 cfu/g. However, up to the end of the storage, the ptoduct of traditionally smoked catfish was indicating the highest quality, showed by thehighest sensory value of the product at the end of storage. The value of the appearance was 6,8(the surface appearance was intact, tidy, the color was getting dim), the value of the odor was 7,1(the specific smell of smoke started dwindling and bad odor compounds started to smell), thevalue of the flavor was 6,6 (the savory flavor and the specific flavor started dwindling, bad flavorcompounds started to taste), and the value of the texture was 6,8 (the texture started fragile andsomewhat moist).Key Word : crude liquid smoke, Cryptopterus bicirchis, hot smoking, liquid smoking, redistilledliquid smoke
