Abstract

ABSTRACTResearch onthe dynamics of phytoplankton abundance was conducted in July-August 2019 at Lake Bunter Pangkalan Baru village. A study aims to know the dynamics of phytoplankton abundance either spatiallyand temporally. There were 3 stations namely station 1 (inlet area), station 2 (in the middle of the lake) and station 3 (in the end of the lake). In each stations, there were 2 sampling point, in the surface and 2 Secchi depth. Sampling was done 4 times, once/week. Water quality parameters measured were temperature, pH, transparency, dissolved oxygen, free carbon dioxide, nitrate, phosphate. Result shown that temperature 29-32oC, transparency 81-90 cm, pH 5, DO 3.42-8.22 mg/L, CO2 3.99-15.98 mg/L, nitrate 0.022-0.089 mg/L, phosphate 0.014-0.049 mg/L. Phytoplankton abundance at the surface range 317,746-411,070cell/L, and 2 Secchi depth range 284,416-311,080cell/L. Temporal dynamics of phytoplankton abundance was influenced by timewhile spatial dynamics of phytoplankton abundance based on stations or depth. Abstract

Abstrack        Ompok hypophthalmus is one of the caught fish commonly found in the Indragiri River, Lubuk Terentang Village. The purpose of this study was to determine the rate of growth and mortality of Ompok hypophthalmus. Fish sampling was carried out for 10 days in February and 10 days in March by using drift nets and nets. Data were analyzed by ELEFAN I method, FiSAT II software (FAO-ICLARM Fish Stock Assessment Tool). There were 109 fish caught. The results showed that the growth pattern of fish was negative allometric. Long frequency distribution ranges from 150 to 261 mm. The results of the Von Bertalanffy growth equation show that Lt = 260.40 (1-e-1,2(t+0.073)). This means the asymptote length (L∞) of the hypophthalmic is 260.40, the growth coefficient (K) 1.2 per year and the theoretical age (t0) of fish is equal to 0.073. The total mortality (Z) of fish is 1.88 per year. The estimated natural mortality (M) of fish is 1.09 per year and deaths due to capture (F) of 0.79 per year. The exploitation rate (E) of fish is 0.42 and shows this value is still below the optimum exploitation rate of 0.50.Keywords: Selais Fish, Ompok hypophthalmus, Growth Rate, Mortality, Indragiri River, Lubuk Terentang Village

Abstract

ABSTRACT        The research was conducted from August to December 2018. The research aims to evaluate improvement of the quality of Water Hyacinth Leaf Meal (WHLM) (Eichhornia crassipes) fermented with cow rumen liqour (CRL) as feed ingredients for jelawat (Leptobarbus hoeveni) seeds. The research was conducted in three stages. First stage: CRL activated with and without carbon as a WHML fermenter. The WHML proximate test results showed that the best treatment was CRL with the addition of carbon which produced 16.66% protein, 2.26% fat, 19.5% crude fiber and 13.44% ash. Second stage: CRL with the addition of carbon is used in different doses, by adding CRL 0, 100, 200, 300, 400 and 500 ml/kg WHML. Organoleptic and proximate tests showed that the best treatment was CRL 300 ml/kg WHML (P3) which produced a score of 3.73 aroma, 2.02 texture. Decreased crude fiber content from 20.04% to 16.80% and increased protein content from 11.315% to 13.32%, decreased fat content from 1.08% to 0.33%. Third stage: CRL treatment of 300 ml/kg WHML (P3) was tested for enzyme activity and digestibility of the ingredients. The highest enzyme activity was the amylase enzyme activity, namely 5.792 U/ml and 23.74-32.44% digestibility. Keywords : Water Hyacinth Leaves, Cow Rumen Liqour, Fermentation, Digestibility
