Abstract

Palm Empty Fruit Bunches (EFB) can be used as alternative energy source by using torrefaction process. Torrefaction is a pre-treatment process of biomass into solid fuel within temperature range of 200-300 oC in an inert condition. The aim of this research was producing solid fuel from oil palm EFB and studyng the effect of process variabel towards characteristic of solid fuel that was resulted. Torrefaction of EFB was using fixed bed horizontal reactor with temperature (225-275 oC) and particle size (5-15 mm). The quality of product that analyzed was calorific value, mass yield, energy yield and proximate (moisture content, ash content, volatile content and fixed carbon). The result of research was obtained for calorific value was 18362.17-20113.19 kJ/kg, mass yield was 52.15-77.85% and energy yield was 65.82-90.00%. The result proximate analysis such as moisture content was 1.22-1.35%, ash content was 6.97-13.59%, volatile content was 35.71-56.64%, and fixed carbon was 33.45-52.13%. From the result that was obtained, the effect of rising temperature given increasing to the calorific value, energy yield, ash content, and fixed carbon.Keywords: palm empty fruit bunches, biomassa, solid fuel, torrefaction.

Abstract

Evaluation of irrigation system must be conducted annualy in order to know the value of performance of irrigation system of each area. The goverment want to record and maintain the existing facilities and infrastructure. However, since the transfer of authority of the Ranah Singkuang’s irrigation area in 2015 from district goverment to the to provincial goverment, there are no any operation and maintenance of Ranah Singkuang’s irrigation area. In this research, the evaluation of irrigation system performance according to Permen PU No.12/PRT/M/2015 which has been interpreted into Index of Performance of Irrigation System (IKSI). There are six parameters of this research that showed of physical infrastructure in 27,87%, plantation productivity in 12,87%, supporting facility in 8,40%, personnel organization in 10,80%, documentation in 5% and P3A in 3,60%. According this performance, total index of performance of irrigation system of Ranah Singkuang’s irrigation area is 65,14% or condition of performance is bad and need a concern.Keywords: evaluation of irrigation system, Permen PU No.12/PRT/M/2015, IKSI

Abstract

Oral and dental health are not very much paid attention to as most people failed to realize the importance of them. Increasing need for dental health institutions can be regarded as an indicationof raise public awareness of dental and oral health conditions. Therefore, it needs qualified human resources in order to provide optimal the health services. Faculty of Dentistry of University of Riau which is offered is coresponding with aplication of Contextual Architecture approach, that is a building should have connection with surroundings and keep preserving the environmentcharacteristic. Through the Architecture theme, the concept of Harmony Collaboration is defined as a collaboration between dental functions and the principle of Harmonic Contextual. The concept is applied to site pattern, mass formation, and facade. The site designed pattern is based on teeth formation, the mass of building is based on the principle of the harmonious to the surrounding buildings. Abstract

Peat water often used as concrete mixing water in areas that are difficult to get clean water. The characteristic of peat water are acidic and has low pH value, so it is not recommended to use as concrete mixing water because it can reduce the quality of concrete. Material of mineral like Palm Oil Fuel Ash (POFA) used in concrete mixture can imvrove the density and strenght. Beside the addition of mineral materials, improvement of water quality concrete mixer can also improve the quality of concrete. The purpose of this reserach to quantify the compressive strength and porosity of the concrete where the concrete mixing water used is water that has been processed peat. The peat water treathment is acidid neutralized by the alkaline additives. The pH value used as parameter to improve the quality of water by adding additives such as quicklime. The type of cement used in concrete mix OPC and OPC POFA 10%. Peat water in this research from Rimbo Panjang, Kampar and POFA comes from PT. Tarera Bangun Riau, PKS Perhentian Raja, Kampar regency. The result showed that the peat water’s quality has been improved with addition of quicklime will produce the quality of concrete is better than the using peat water without repair.Keywords : Phsycal properties, OPC, POFA (palm oil fuel ash), peat water, additive, quicklime, peat field condition.

Abstract

The flooding area in Bangkinang city were around DI Panjaitan road and suburban of Petai I river, where drainage capacity can’t received most flow discharge that is flowed from catchment area, then the channel that have not enough capacity cause the discharge flows into was DI Panjaitan road channel and petai I river not optimal, flooding and inundated happened. This condition causes people who live in that area uncomfortable. This study aims to analyze the drainage system and the channel capacity to drain runoff so that flood was not happened in flood area. Rainfall station data of Pasar Kampar for 15 years used to determine planed rainfall by using 10 years return period and get planned rainfall (R24) of 135,990 mm. From the data of topographic, flow patterns and planed rainfall used to calculate discharge for the required dimension channel. Results of research show that the existing capacity of channel dimension can’t enough to receive the discharge, so that it is done the normalization on channel e.g : SD Panjaitan Kn4, SD Petai1 10, SD Petai1 12 and SD Petai1 13.Key words: Bangkinang, floods, rainfall, discharge, drainage channel.

Abstract

Power transformer is an electrical device that is utilized to convert the electrical power from different voltage level. The fault occurs in the power transformer will inhibit the process of distributing electrical power to the consumer. Therefore, the protection system on power transformers is essential in power systems reliability. Power system can be reliable, if the protective devices work well when there is fault. Under fault conditions, protective devices have an important role in detecting any fault and separating the faulted parts of the system. This research will be conducted on 25 MVA of power transformer at gas power plant (case study: PT Riau Power). Matlab / Simulink was use for modelling differential relay. The simulation of short circuit have been created at three different locations, namely : internal, external 1, and external 2, respectively. The result of short circuit simulation using differential relay to input data used for the application of ANFIS method. Furthermore, these data were classified into three different input for ANFIS such as : internal with eksternal 1, internal with external 2, and internal, external 1 with external 2, respectively. The error result of ANFIS training for type of internal and external fault 1 is 0,00000086148, for types of internal and external fault 2 by 0,00000092462 and internal, external 1 and external 2 of 0,0000019162. The training results have obtained the smallest error value is the type fault of internal and external 1.Keywords : ANFIS, differential relay, power transformer, resetting

Abstract

Culture is a comprehensive lifestyle that is complex, abstract and broad. Along with the globalization, many cultures from other countries are entering and growing in Indonesia. One of the cultures that attract and take interest of Indonesians is Japanese Culture. Japanese culture has spread all over the world including Indonesia. Lots of Indonesians are interested in applying Japanese culture with the aim to become a better person. Japanese culture has been known at every point of the city in Indonesia including Pekanbaru. Activities related to Japanese culture are often held in Pekanbaru. In order to accommodate the enthusiasm of people who want to know and learn about Japanese culture, a particular place is needed to accommodate the cultural activities. The Japanese Cultural Center building is an activity center that specifically into Japanese culture to give insight, educative, recreational and as symbol to strengthen Indonesia-Japan bilateral Relations, and as a recreational function. The design of this building will apply a theme derived from the design principles of a Japanese architect Kenzo Tange, to create Japanese atmosphere in the building. Kenzo Tange has the characteristics of modernism and keeps showing Japanese architecture in its design. Based on the function and theme of building design, came up a concept of "Tranquility through Simplicity and Beauty". With simple placement and taking the natural element as a form of beauty, it can offer a calm feeling. The concept accompanies the design process so that it can create a building that is met with the expectation of Japanese culture lovers in Pekanbaru.Keywords: Cultural Center, Japan, Kenzo Tange

Abstract

Health development is one of the main factors to promote an area. If an area in the field of health is good, then the rate of progress and human resources will also improve. One factor that is still ahealth problem in Indonesia is still high mortality rate of mothers and children. This is due to the lack of public knowledge in the world of health, especially in terms of delivery was also afterpostpartum. To support the achievement of the Vision Riau Province in health in the form of "People Riau The Independent For Healthy Living In 2020.". So we need the construction ofMidwifery Academy of Rokan Hilir in order to help reduce maternal mortality and child in Indonesia, especially in the area of Rokan Hilir , Rokan Hilir Regency is a regency in Riau Province, Indonesia. The capital is located in Bagansiapiapi, historic city, and was once known asthe largest fish producer in Indonesia. The district has an area of 8,941 km² and a population of 349 771 inhabitants. Rokan Hilir is divided into 15 districts and 83 villages. Rokan Hilir Midwifery Academy is to apply the concept of building "Hierarchy second Mind" and use the theme Tropical Architecture. Using the theme of tropical architecture of the building is expected to be able to reduce the adverse effects of the hot climate of the area tropis.There is four application tropical architecture used include the distance between buildings, shading, vegetation and cross ventilation. Abstract

Orthogonal Frequency Division Multiplexing (OFDM) is a very efficient high speed data transmission technique in wireless communication technology. This paper discusses the performance of OFDM system using Hamming Code. OFDM system using BPSK modulation schemes, operating under various channel conditions. To imitate the practical applications in the real world Rayleigh channel, Rician channels are also considered in addition to the AWGN channel. The simulation is done to investigate the performance of the coded OFDM system over the uncoded OFDM system. It is seen that coding improves BER performance of OFDM system and hence in this work, Hamming Code is used as single error correction.Keywords : OFDM, BER, Hamming Code, AWGN, rayleigh and Rician channels.

Abstract

Monocrystalline and polycrystalline are most widely used solar panels in Indonesia. This article discusses the energy production of both types with different tilted angles. The study was conducted by using 20 Wp solar panel. The tilted angles that examined in this research were 0, 15, 30 and 45 degree, respectively. The location of research was chosen at Faculty of Engineering building at Universitas Riau, Indonesia since it reflects the tropical weather condition. It has been found that monocrystalline produced higher energy compare with polycrystalline. The 0 and 15 degrees tilted angles gave the highest energy production of solar photovoltaic compare with the rest of tilted angles.Keyword: Monocrystalline, Polycrystalline, Solar Photovoltaic , Tilted Angle, Weather
