Abstract

In the handling of agricultural products, peeling and cutting are a job that has always been done since harvesting until the product is ready to be consumed or processed further.The simple peeling and cutting jobs can be completed manually using a knife or other cutting tool. However, if the amount of peeling coconuts at harvest is large in numbers, manually requires considerable time and labor. Currently design a coconut peeling machine using screw feeding system, which equipped a peeling knife and spike roller. This research proposed to improve the machine performance designed with investigated the variation of peeler blade rotation. The method used in this research was an experimental testing by varying the rotation of the peeler blade (peeling knife and spike roller) and two rollers for forced rotation. Then, the coconut peeling results (coconut husking) were compared and analyses. After testing the rotation of variation of peeling blade and companion blade of coconut peeling machine, that was resulted good husk for 3 of 8 of coconut stripping, which rotation of peeling blade and companion blade of 20 rpm and 15 rpm respectively. These peeling results became better for 3 coconuts due to distance two roller of peeling knifes that whas set up on 175 mm.Keywords: Coconut peeling machine, Blade, Round Variation, Peeling result.

Abstract

Digital image compression is an important method for data transmission and data storage more efficient. There are two compression techniques used are; lossless compression and lossy compression. In lossless compression technique using Huffman and LZW whereas lossy compression technique using the DCT and Wavelet Haar. At any given algorithm image insert 2 input object image is varied according to four dimensions (320x480, 480x640, 640x720, 720x1080) and 4 format (BMP, GIF, PNG and TIFF). the result of applying the algorithm generates the MSE  will be used as a comparison. The result of the application of simulation shows the lossy compression format GIF has the largest MSE of the other formats with MSE value is in the range of 16,4 to 20 dB.    Keywords : Lossy Compression, Lossless Compression, DCT, Haar Wavelet, Huffman, LZW

Abstract

The diversity of Malay culture in Riau Province becomes one of the things that must be preserved and developed in order to stay well preserved. Riau can be the center of Malay culture in Indonesia with its diverse cultural assets. Therefore, it is necessary to have a to appreciate and preserve Malay culture in order to maintain by providing facilitation of Malay Art Gallery in Pekanbaru. Art Gallery of Riau Malay Culture is designed to represent elements of Riau Malay culture on its design. The purpose of this research is to design the Malay Cultural Art Gallery of Riau by applying the elements of Neo-Vernacular Architecture and developed in a more modern form. In the design of Riau Malay Art Art Gallery, there are three main functions, namely manager-supporting, gallery, and amphitheater which of these three functions apply the elements of Neo-vernacular Architecture. this theme can be the basic reference in the design as well as the unique value that colored the overall design result. This approach will produce a modern form but still have local cultural values. the concept is "Ark of Lancang Kuning" which is an icon of Riau Malay culture. There are two main buildings namely the manager and the gallery. Building managers more emphasis on the concept and building the gallery more to the theme of the theme. Overall the building characterizes predefined themes and concepts.The combination of themes and concepts that will produce a modern form but still apply the value of local culture.Keywords: Riau Cultural Malay Art, Neo-Vernacular Architecture, Pekanbaru

Abstract

The increasing amounts of plastic wastes generate enormous environmental problems because its nonbiodegradable properties. Various attempts have been done to reduce plastic waste. One of the way to reuse the plastic waste is converted to the liquid fuel by pyrolisis process. Pyrolysis, while can decomposed plastic safely, its product can be alternative source of fuel. The purpose of this study is to observe the effect of process variable (process temperature and active clay catalyst) for yield form polypropylene plastic and generated pyrolysis liquid fuel characterization. The pyrolysis process was carried out at 300 oC, 350 oC, 400 oC and variation of active clay catalyst to 0.5%, 1%, 1.5% and non-catalyst for polypropylene plastic and with reaction time of 120 min. The results of this study resulted in the highest yield of 65.86% at 400oC and 1.5% active clay catalyst. Characterization of pyrolysis liquid fuel of density 0,784 gram / ml, kinematic viscosity 2,956 cSt, flash point 49 oC and caloric value 46,815 MJ/ kg.Keyword : pyrolysis, active clay, polypropylena, pyrolysis liquid fuel

Abstract

The use of botanical pesticides is one alternative that is safe and environmentally friendly to take advantage of the potential of plant extracts as pesticides to control pests. The purpose of this research is to making of botanical pesticides from leather jiringa and garlic, test secondary metabolites component of maximum yield. The research was done by extraction method, and separation of secondary metabolites with rotary evaporator with a variation of submersion that is 3, 5, 7, 9, and 11 days, the ratio of material and solvent is 1: 4. The highest result is secondary metabolites components successfully tested are alkaloids, flavonoids, tannins, saponins, and sulfur.Keywords: Botanical pesticides, extraction, leather jiringa, garlics, LC50

Abstract

The river morphology is a geometry (shape and size), the type, property and circumstance of the river with all aspects and changes in the dimensions of space and time. Extreme changes in river morphology would be harmful to the assets in the region around the river. This study is located in downstream of Rokan river that was analyzed by using Geographical Information Systems and remote sensing. To investigate the rate and extent change, this study extract the river change from satellite data during 1988 to 2016. Changes would be reviewed is limited to changes horizontally divided into two classes of areas including erosion and deposition area. The data that used is imagery satellite data those are Landsat-5 TM, Landsat-7 ETM+, and Landsat-8 OLI_TIRS that were obtained from the USGS (United States Geological survey). Based on the analysis results, it was obtained that total morphological changes of Rokan river eroded area of 2799.63 ha with an erosion rate average of 101.69 ha / year and covering an area of 2541.95 ha deposited with a deposition rate average of 92.33 ha / years. The magnitude of the changes in river morphology of Rokan River has broken meanders neck, resulting in severance and change the direction of the river flow. Morphological changes of Rokan River that occurred also pose a potential breakup of a meander, damaging transport infrastructure, settlements and plantations eroded residents area around the Rokan River.Keywords: River morphology, geographic information systems, satellite imagery, erosion, deposition.

Abstract

The development of Information Technology makes an information security is very important, especially on a network connected to the internet. The imbalance between every development of a technology is not accompanied by developments in the security system itself, thus quite a lot of systems are still weak. This weakness is able to create a threat, either from within or from outside. The security system used by the University of Riau today is the Firewall-DMZ security system that is a security system that controls, supervises, filters and identifies incoming traffic and protects servers that are accessible to the public. Intrusion Prevention System as a security system that can prevent a threat to the information network. Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) combines firewall techniques and Intrusion Detection System (IDS) methods very well. This technology can prevent attacks that will enter the local network by checking and recording all data packets and recognizing the sensor data packets, when an attack has been identified, Intrusion Prevention System (IPS) will deny access and record all identified data packets. The result of this research is to apply snort security system based on snort network of Riau University by simulating some attack experiments that are resolved well by IPS, so it can be a consideration for University Computer Center of Riau to implement security system which is automated in intranet and internet university Riau.Keywords : Intrusion Prevention System, IPS, IDS, Snort, Network Security, Network.

Abstract

This research aimed to examine the progressive collapse of regular and irregular structural building. This research conducted by analyzing the structural elements that were first destroyed due to addition of gravity load and lateral load of the earthquake. This analysis conducted by removing one or more critical columns with General Services Administration (GSA) guide. Examination of structural strength using finite element software based Demand Capacity Ratio (DCR) value. The regular structure will have progressive collapse if the DCR>2 and irregular structure will have progressive collapse if the DCR>1,5. Progressive collapse occurs when removal of five critical columns on the side of the regular structure, with the largest of DCR value is 4,665. In irregular structure, progressive collapse occurs when removal of four critical columns in middle of horizontal side of structure with the largest of DCR value is 3,44375. The analysis results show progressive collapse did not occurs when removal of single column from GSA guide. Progressive collapse only occurs after removal of some critical columns in pushover analysis results. This show that the structure is still capable to carrying the load when remove single column, but the structure is unable to carrying the load when some critical column were removed. Based on the deformation, the regular and irregular structures analyzed have progressive collapse of domino type. The value of robustness indicator is almost equal one, that indicated the load distribution is normal despite of the damage structure.Keywords : Progressive collapse, irregular structure, regular structure, GSA, DCR

Abstract

Quality Of Service is very significant to measures data network performance indicator in the existing system in Riau University. This paper discusses performance analysis of existing datanetworks Riau University. The detail of performance analysis consists of several parameters such as throughput, packet loss and delay. It uses approach Action Research. The measurement was conducted when idle condition. The result shows Economics Faculty in good performance and the opposite result is indicated by Fisheries Faculty. Traffic problems arising from accessing the peak season occurs due to scheduling KRS which does not refer to the numberof each user on the faculties.Keywords : Quality Of Services, Delay, Throughput, Packet Loss

Abstract

This study refers to the study of tensile strength and impact properties of polymeric foam sandwich panels composite material with variations in the direction of empty fruit bunch fiber, VARI pressure, and foam thickness. The results of composite specimen analysis in the study were evaluated and compared with each other. From the test result, it was found that the highest tensile strength was the composite specimen with the direction of the verical fiber ie the specimen with the third vertical fiber direction, the pressure vari 6 cmHg, and the thickness of foam 1.5 mm with tensile strength is 22.5041 ????/????????2, the highest impact price is the specimen with vertical fiber direction ie specimen with three vertical panels fiber direction, pressure vari 6 cm Hg, and thickness foam 1,5 mm with impact price 0,1646 ????/????????2. the direction of the verical fiber is 53% higher than the direction of consecutive, vertical, horizontal and vertical combined fibers in absorbing impact loads, also 83% higher than the combined vertical, 45⁰, and horizontal joint directions in absorbing impact load , also has a tensile strength of 10% higher than the direction of vertical, horizontal and vertical combined fibers, also has a tensile strength of 15% higher than the combined vertical, 45⁰, and horizontal combined directions.Keywords : Polymeric Foam, sandwich panels, empty fruit bunch.
