Abstract

Bone implants are a tissue replacement technique using synthetic materials that are compatible with body tissues. Materials that can be used as a bone implant one of them is hydroxyapatite scaffold (HA). However, most of the HA scaffolds still have one of the strongest compression values. To increase the compressive strength of the scaffold it must be coated with other polymers. One of the polymers that is biodegradable with the body is chitosan. HA scaffold coating method using dip - coating method by dissolving chitosan powder into acetic acid concentration 0,50%; 0.75% and 1.00% (w / v). Next, scaffold HA in coating with chitosan solution for 30, 45, 60 minutes. After coating, HA scaffold is dried at room temperature for 24 hours. The increase of chitosan concentration 0,50% to 0,75% can decrease the porosity that is 78% to 76% and pore size from 28,25 μm become 22,88 μm. Furthermore, the longer coating time required 30 minutes and 60 minutes then the greater the compressive strength of HA scaffold produced is 1.43 MPa to 4.05 MPa. The optimum condition of the operation is 0.75% chitosan concentration and 60 minutes coating time with a compressive strength value of 4.05 MPa.Keywords: chitosan, coating, compressive strength, hydroxyapatite, scaffold

Abstract

The increasing consumption of fossil fuels as energy source of the world cause a decrease in a number of fossil fuels. Wind energy as one of renewable energy resource has a great potential to solve the problem of dependency on fossil fuels, especially in Pekanbaru, Indonesia. Pekanbaru wind speed condition which is considered relatively low can be harnessed efficiently by designing blades which suits wind characteristics in Pekanbaru.  Blades are designed using aerodynamic equations and  software assistance such as Microsoft Excel, Qblade, and Autodesk Inventor. As a result, the blades had a solid structure, easily in manufacturing and affordable which can generate mechanical power at low wind speeds with a radius 1,1 m and hub 0,2 m and the chord length  at the base of  the blade 0,13 m and at the tip 0,26 with twist angle at the base of the blade 20,4  and at the tip 5,6  . The result of this research is to show that the inverse taper blade design is applicable in low wind speed conditions in order to produce an affordable, compact, and efficient wind turbine appropriate for wind characteristic in Pekanbaru. Keyword : Chord, Twist Angle, Blades, Inverse Taper, Wind Turbine

Abstract

Trans Metro Pekanbaru (TMP) is a Mass Public Transportation Facility (SAUM) which has been operating since 2009 in Pekanbaru City. Busway is expected to be one solution to overcome the problems of transportation in the Metropolitan City. Pekanbaru City Government should think about the financial aspects of the use of the bus rapid transit. Management of good financial feasibility can minimize any loss incurred from the operation of this public transport. Therefore, it is necessary to evaluate Transmetro's financial viability for corridor VI. Aspects analyzed include Operational Cost of Vehicle (OCV) and financial aspect by analyzing Net Present Value (NPV), Benefit Cost Ratio (BCR), Internal Rate of Return (IRR), Payback Period (PBP) as well as Analysis Sensitivity. The result of BOK analysis for large TMP buses is Rp.6.578,68. The calculation result from the combination of 30% own capital and 70% of the total investment of TMP bus is Rp,6,379,123,318 with NPV Rp,4,965,068,212. BCR of 1.38 and PBP for 4 years 5 months. Then the sensitivity analysis of the investment increased to 148%, the sensitivity analysis to profit decreased 82%, the sensitivity analysis to the cost increased to 139% and the sensitivity to interest analysis increased by 28.05%. Abstract

SMK Negeri 1 Ujungbatu is one of the school that located in Rokan Hulu Regency. The school’s number of registrations increased each year. To help student candidate to apply and the selection committees to manage registration data, an information system named Sistem Informasi Penerimaan Siswa Baru Berbasis Web di SMK Negeri 1 Ujungbatu, Kabupaten Rokan Hulu-Provinsi Riau. Programming language that used for this information system are PHP Hypertext Preprocessor (PHP), Hypertext Markup Language (HTML), JavaScript, Cascading Style Sheet (CSS), My Structured Query Language (MySQL). The method that used in this information system is Waterfall. Waterfall is a systematic and sequential developing model that link one phase to another in sequence. This research produced an app that could provide ease in obtaining information and registering so that the new students admission process became more effective and efficient.Keywords: Information System, New Student Admission, Waterfall Method.

Abstract

Chromium (Cr) is a heavy metal that has a toxicity and the presence in waters caused by the disposal of wastewaste from various industrial activities, one of them is electroplating industry. One of method that can be applied to reduse the concentration of Cr in wastewater is biosorption using biomass of baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) which immobilization with calcium alginate. This research aims to determine the ability of biomass of baker's yeast (Saccharomyces cerevisiae) on variations concentration of sodium alginate (1%, 2% and 3%), weight biosorbent (0,5, 1, 1,5 and 2 grams) and contact time (1, 2, 3 and 4 hours). Concentration Cr wastewater was analyzed using AAS instrument. The results showed the Cr concentrations was highest at a concentration of 3% alginate, biosorbent weight of 0,5 gram and contact time of 3 hours with the adsorption capacity of 2,608 mg Cr /g biosorbent.Keywords: biosorption, Cr, electroplating wastewater, (Saccharomyces cerevisiae), Immobilization, calcium alginate.

Abstract

Public library is a real place for community to meet the need for information. Reading activities as the main activity in the library have the most important factors to be considered, that is in terms of lighting. Indonesia is a tropical country that gets sunshine all year round, so the availability of natural light is very abundant. The natural sunlight can be used to meet the lighting needs of public libraries, keeping in mind the activities that take place therein are daylight. The concept of “lantern” is used as an effort to integrate function and theme. The formula is to provide a slim form of the building, advance the facade, the formation of triangles, and atrium so that the surface area to respond for natural lighting can be optimal. So that through the surface can be given openings to insert light from the side and above. In the application, the resulting design has wide openings on the sides of the building, the anticipation of light and overheating is done by sunscreen placement on the north and south sides. The application of this concept produces a library that is rich in natural light but remains comfortable and safe for users which refers to the standard of lighting in space for public libraries, so that incoming lighting can have a good impact on space, users, and library materials.Keywords: Library, Public Library, Lighting, Natural Light.

Abstract

In design a comfortable and safe car while driving, there are some things to watch out for, that isthe steering system, brake, and suspension. In this research, the author will analyze about the transmission system on the car Bono Kampar. Research on the transmission system begins with the search for data specification car Bono Kampar, after the vehicle specification data obtained, the next step is to find the center of car Bono Kampar, then calculate the speed of the vehicle on each gear ratio, from tooth 1, tooth 2, tooth 3 and tooth 4, calculate the net traction force on each gear ratio of 1 to 4, measure the fuel consumption, and measure the mileage at each gear ratio, and the analysis. Abstract

Domestic demand for petroleum is increasing while Indonesia's oil reserves are running low leading to high world oil prices. To overcome this it is necessary to develop alternative renewable energy derived from vegetable oil, one of which is biodiesel. Purposes of this research were to produce biodiesel from CPO, having study the effect of different weight of the catalyst and reaction time on process of palm oil biodiesel, determine the characteristics of catalyst La/ZnO. The La/ZnO catalyst is made by impregnate 3 % La into ZnO, then dried using oven and calcination, oxidation and reduction. Production of biodiesel is carried out through two stages: esterification and transesterification. The highest yield resulted on La/ZnO catalyst weight 1% which is 92.46%. Production biodiesel from CPO using La/ZnO catalyst produces biodiesel which can be used as alternative energy, catalyst weight and reaction time are directly proportional to the yield of biodiesel from CPO, La/ZnO catalysts have good selectivity against biodiesel from CPO.Keywords: biodiesel, CPO, La/ZnO, transesterification

Abstract

Magnetite/Hydroxyapatite composite is one of the media as drug carrier for a drug delivery system. The purpose of this research is synthesis of the composite, and analysing the effect of percentage of Fe and sintering temperature to the characteristic of the composite. The powder of magnetite was dispersed in 100 ml of aquadest and mixed with 33,7 mmol Ca(NO3)2.4H2O for 15 minutes, and 20 mmol (NH4)2HPO4 added to the suspense. The pH of suspension was controlled by added NH4OH 25% until pH 11 and left for reacting for 120 minutes at 90ºC. The suspension was aged for 1 day, washed and then the precipitate was separated from the suspense. The precipitate was dried for 1 day at 90ºC and ended with sintering the precipitate for 2 hours at variable temperature until powder of composite was collected. The powder of composite was characterized with XRD, VSM and FESEM. The increase of sintering temperature from 400ºC to 800ºC affecting the sample crystallinity from 14,22% to 22,55% and the magnetic saturation value from 17,2 emu/g to 4,0 emu/g. Based on the resulted from characterized of the composite, concluded that the synthesis of composite magnetite/hydroxyapatite were succeeded.Keywords :drug carrier, hydroxyapatite, composite, magnetite, coprecipitation

Abstract

Fires in peat land in Riau Province commonly happened in the dry season and the water level of peat land was low. To reduce the risk of fires in peat soil can be implemented with the solidification and stabilization. Stabilization of peat soil by used additive ingredients such as chalk (CaCo3) and fly ash was one method of soil stabilization. The Additive ingridients could improve the technical properties and filled the voids in the peat soil was reduced. This research was aimed to determine the optimal composition content of chalk and fly ash to the stabilization of burning peat soil. The optimum water content for compaction was range between 100% and 160%, Hadijah (2006) in Ilyas (2008). Based on literature, this research using 100% water content for compaction. The pure peat soil was burned at the optimum water content and temperature obtained burning point at 72 °C within 4 minutes. After peat stabilization with fly ash 15% and 5% CaCO3, burning point was much longer to 94 °C within 34 minutes. Higest point of ash happened on peat soil with fly ash 15% and CaCo3 5% with a temperature of 206 °C and within 59 minutes. Meanwhile, ingredient content such as peat soil+ 5% CaCo3 + 10% fly ash, peat soil + 5% caco3 + 5% fly ash, and on pure peat soil has a short time. It was because the fly ash and chalk can be reduced the burning process time.Keywords: Peat Soils, Fly Ash, Chalk, Burning Point, Ash Point
